RR: 5.31 | Ireland beat Zimbabwe by 4 wickets
That's all from this game. Ireland take the lead in this 3 match ODI series. Join us on 4th of July, Thursday for the coverage of the 2nd ODI between the two. That match begins 1045 Local (0945 GMT). Till then, cheers!
Earlier in the day, after being put into bat, Zimbabwe scored 254 from their 50 overs, courtesy a brilliant ton from Craig Ervine and a quickfire 49 from Ryan Burl. However Ervine's effort went in vain as his team was unable to defend the score.
As for Zimbabwe's bowling, Chatara and Jarvis were the only two bowlers to get into the wickets column. The other bowlers did bowl well but the target was not good enough for the bowler's to build enough pressure.
A convincing win for Ireland. The chase did not get off to a good start with the hosts losing McCollum early. Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie then steadied the ship with a solid 105-run stand. Ireland did lose their way for a bit in the middle when Stirling and Porterfield got out in quick succession. Balbirnie though kept fighting and his wonderful century took the hosts closer to victory. Shane Getkate and Mark Adair's cameo in the end took the hosts to an easy win.
