Cheers and take care.
Quinton de Kock, the MAN OF THE MATCH, says that he has not given much thought about his innings but he is happy to help his team win. Adds that there are friends of him and he does an initiative for Rhino conservation and that is what his celebrations were all about. Goes onto say that his friends went crazy after he scored a century. Tells that he asked Nortje how to go about it and he told him to look for boundaries and it came off. Goes onto say that this is an awesome place to keep wickets but the ball wobbled a bit and that made it difficult.
Dean Elgar, the South African skipper, says that he is very impressed and it is a collective effort by the side. Adds that there has been a lot of planning. Says that everything worked for them and him as a captain. Tells that he is a firm believer that runs are important despite the conditions. Goes onto say that they have been struggling of late and it is great to see Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen score some runs. States that this was a difficult wicket and the bowlers rose to the occasion and they knew that the pitch here would help the bowlers. Says that with Covid regulations, they have a larger squad and lot of their guys are part of the T20I squad. Adds that it was going to be bowler-friendly conditions. Tells that he told the guys that they needed 100s and 5-fers to win. Says that Lungi Ngidi was brilliant and Quinton de Kock showed what a world-class player he is. Adds that Rabada is hard-working and it is great to see him back among the wickets. Goes onto say that Nortje is a massive trump card for them and it is nice to see him bowl in the 140s. Adds that the guys will have some time to rest.
Kraigg Brathwaite, the West Indies' skipper, says that the pitch had variable bounce and they did not bat well in the first innings. Goes onto say Day 2 had a little moisture but South Africa batted well. Goes onto say that South Africa had quality bowlers and they need to bat better. Adds that they bowled well, Jayden Seales was magnificent. States that the spinners did a good job. Says that the first innings hampered them a lot. Tells that Seales is a special talent. Goes onto say that there is not much to work on and they need to replicate what they do in the nets.
South Africa were upto the mark in the second innings as well. Kagiso Rabada led the way with a 5-fer. He bowled superbly and did not give anything away and was simply brilliant. Anrich Nortje was once again brilliant with the ball while Lungi Ngidi bowled well but to no reward. Keshav Maharaj too joined the party with his two wickets and in the end, it was a comfortable victory for South Africa. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony.
West Indies had a tall order to face in their second innings but they just disappointed again. Kraigg Brathwaite did not last long nor did Shai Hope, Kieran Powell and Kyle Mayers. Roston Chase was the only shining light for the West Indies in the second innings as he scored a fine 62 but that was never going to be enough as they folded for 162, giving South Africa an easy win.
South Africa's first innings was all about Quinton de Kock. Yes, there were contributions from Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen but the way de Kock played was simply superb. He started off slowly and once he realized that he was losing partners, he went berserk and scored a majestic 141 to get a lead of 225 which was a very good lead. He was well supported by Anrich Nortje who stuck around. For West Indies, Jayden Seales impressed with 3 wickets and Jason Holder finished with 4 but they did not ask enough questions of the South African batters.
After opting to bat first, West Indies were blown away for just 97 in their first innings. There was simply nothing from the batters and they simply crumbled against the Proteas' bowling. For South Africa, Anrich Nortje started it all as he blew up the top order with a 4-fer and then Lungi Ngidi cleaned it up with his second 5-fer in Tests and Rabada too did a very good job. That was the game right there.
A comprehensive win for South Africa! They have beaten West Indies by an innings and 63 runs. Dean Elgar's captaincy stint begins with a bang. Brilliant performance from the Proteas and they will be really pleased with the effort. West Indies, on the other hand, will be really disappointed with the performance and they need to make a comeback in the next game. They have been completely dominated in this game.

Drinks! West Indies have done a decent job. Blackwood and Roston Chase looked good at the start before Blackwood threw his wicket away but since then Chase has played some lovely shots and is looking in good touch. He has reached his fifty but there is still a lot of work to be done. South Africa, on the other hand, have not done badly but they would look to pick up the remaining wickets quickly.
Wiaan Mulder is into the attack.
Jason Holder is the next man in. Anrich Nortje replaces Lungi Ngidi into the attack.
Jermaine Blackwood has been given out LBW this time and he has taken a review again. The Ultra Edge shows no bat while the Ball Tracker shows it is missing the stumps.

Phil Simmons, the West Indies coach, is up for a chat. He says that the preparations were good and they played poorly on the first day. Adds that batsmen got themselves out in the first innings and they cannot blame the pitch. Says that they need to settle down and form big partnerships and they need to start well on Day 3. Says that Jayden Seales has had a great debut and he has a great future.
Mark Boucher, the South African coach, has a chat! He says that de Kock's innings was special. Adds that he left the balls really well and he chose not to attack at the start and the way he played with the tail, showed his character. States that it has been a perfect Test match for them so far and it has gone according to plan for them. Goes onto say that West Indies will fight and they will be prepared.
Pitch report - Stacy-Ann King says that there are indentations on the wicket and it is going to be another day dominated by the bowlers. Mike Haysman says that the batters are never going to feel in.
Day 3 is usually called the moving day but this Test match has moved pretty quickly in favour of South Africa. They first got a lead of 225 courtesy of a fine century from Quinton de Kock. They would have hoped that they can pick up some wickets towards the end of Day 2 and they did just that as they picked up 4 wickets and are on the verge of a crushing victory. On the other hand, West Indies are in deep trouble and only a miracle can save them. They have Roston Chase and Jermaine Blackwood at the crease and they will hope that they can stitch a big partnership. They are still 143 runs behind though and it won't be easy against a rampaging South African attack. What will happen?
... Day 3, Session 1 ...
West Indies had a poor day, starting with the ball and then with the bat. First, they allowed South Africa to score 322 and get a lead of 225, and then while batting, they lost 4 wickets in quick succession to put themselves on the back foot. Brathwaite got a peach of delivery while Powell and Mayers played a poor shot. Roston Chase and Jermaine Blackwood played out the rest of the overs but they have a lot of work to do on Day 3. The first aim would be to take the lead but that too seems far-stretch. South Africa, on the other hand, would look to wrap this up as quickly as possible. It looks like this will be Day 3 finish but anything can happen. Join us on Day 3 which starts on 12th June 2021 at 1000 local (1400 GMT). Until then, cheers and take care.
Quinton de Kock is there for a chat. He says that they wanted to just bat time and his plan was to get his team on top. Adds that he was trying to get to a strong position and put the bad balls away. Tells that his celebration was for an initiative that he is doing. Says that it was nice to spend some time in the middle. Says that he has not changed his mindset and he was just doing his job. Tells that he was making sure that he does well for the team. De Kock tells that they have not played many Tests as other teams do. States that he got many 50s but not getting a century was frustrating.
What a day for South Africa! They have absolutely dominated this Test match so far and are on the verge of a crushing victory. Earlier, it was Quinton de Kock who played a wonderful century and then the bowlers did their job of taking some quick wickets. Kagiso Rabada started it all by picking up the two openers before Anrich Nortje continued his wonderful form in this game. Lungi Ngidi bowled well too but he was unlucky to not pick up a wicket so far in the second innings. Overall, a very good day for the visitors.

West Indies, on the other hand, are in trouble and only a miracle can save them. What will happen?
