...Stay tuned for the Presentation...
West Indies had a decent lead but Pakistan came back well with the bat. It was their skipper who played a good knock and he was well supported by Mohammad Rizwan and Faheem Ashraf. They collapsed at the start of Day 4 and they eventually gave a target of 168. Jayden Seales was brilliant with the ball for the hosts. He became the youngest bowler to pick up a 5-fer for West Indies and he was helped by Kemar Roach. In the end, it was a very good performance.
When West Indies came out to bat, it was Kraigg Brathwaite who led the team with the bat as he scored 97 and was the reason that they managed a lead. Jason Holder was the other batter who played a fine knock. Pakistan's bowling was good with Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Abbas being the pick of the bowlers. Faheem Ashraf too was decent.
Story of the match, After opting to bowl first, West Indies bowled superbly to bowl out Pakistan for just 217. Jayden Seales and Kemar Roach were stars with the ball as they had 5 wickets among them. For Pakistan, Fawad Alam and Faheem Ashraf were the only ones who got going and if not for them, they would have finished with a very low score.
We have just witnessed a thriller and who told Test matches are boring? The Men in Maroon have gone 1-0 in the 2-game Test series. A hard-fought win for West Indies in the end! They were looking down and out at 114 for 7 but the lower order came to the party and took them home. This will be good for their confidence going forward and they have opened their account in the second cycle of the WTC. Earlier in the day, West Indies were 3 down for 16 runs. Then it was a partnership between Roston Chase and Jermaine Blackwood that hold the game for the Windies. The former departed and the wickets started tumbling. Blackwood went on to score a half century but he too departed. Holder played a small cameo and went back. Joshua Da Silva and Kemar Roach stitched a partnership but Da Silva departed at the wrong time. It was then the Heroics of Roach that came into play. He was well supported by Warrican and Seales and they won.
AND BREATHE!!! Take a bow, Kemar Roach! He kept his nerves and did what no one believed. Credit to Jayden Seales also to hang in there with Roach. TEST MATCH AT ITS BEST.
DRINKS!! Pakistan are one wicket away from winning this match. West Indies are 14 runs away from winning. Both the team have come a long way in this match and will not give away in the end. An exciting passage of play awaiits,
Jayden Seales is the last men in.
Hasan Ali is back on as he replaces Faheem Ashraf.
Who walks out now? It is Jomel Warrican.
Shaheen Afridi is brought into the attack! His figures till now 10-4-30-3.
Some repairing has been done at the bowler's landing crease.
Who will bowl from the other end? It is Mohammad Abbas.
We are all set to start this exciting session. The players make their way out in the middle. Kemar Roach is the new man in. Hasan Ali to continue with the ball
....Day 4, Session 3....
Pakistan are well and truly on top of this game right now. They got the big wicket of Holder and that has tilted the game in their favour, Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali made things happen in this session. They bowled tight lines and lengths and didn't allow the Windies batter to settle in. For West Indies, the game is in the hand of their tail-enders. They need 54 runs to win but don't have many wickets in the hand. An exciting third session awaits.
Review time!! Pakistan have taken a review for LBW. Clearly, there was no bat. Wickets missing and Pakistan lose their review.
Who walks out now? It is Joshua Da Silva.
Hasan Ali is back into the attack. His figures till now 7-1-21-0.
Mohammad Abbas is back into the attack.
Jason Holder walks out now.
Who walks out now? It is Kyle Mayers.
DRINKS!! A comfortable second session for the Windies as they have steadied the ship after a tumbling first session. Roston Chase and Jermaine Blackwood are batting comfortably and the runs are also flowing frequently. For Pakistan, there should be only one thing on their mind, wickets, and wickets. An interesting passage awaits ahead.
Change from both ends. Faheem Ashraf is into the attack.
Time for some spin as Yasir Shah is brought into the attack.
The umpires are examining the ball. The ball is not passing the ring test and both the umpires are having a chat. Jermaine Blackwood is also having an issue with his bat. A slight halt in play. The ball has been changed and we are ready to resume.
Who will bowl from the other end? It is Hasan Ali.
We are all set. The players are out in the middle. Roston Chase to face Afridi.
....Day 4. Session 2....
For Pakistan, it was all about Shaheen Afridi! He was simply superb in the opening spell as he was the only bowler to fall in the wickets column. He was unplayable and Pakistan would hope that he can continue that form. Mohammad Abbas was brilliant as well but could not find a wicket. Hasan Ali bowled a couple of wickets. Overall, they did a very good job but they need to keep putting the pressure on West Indies. The second session will begin at 12.40 pm local (5.40 pm GMT). Do join us then.
An end to a very good session of play! One might say that Pakistan took that session but they would know that there is still a lot of work to do. West Indies will be disappointed that they lost three wickets and they have a long way to go on this pitch. West Indies were off to a poor start as they lost Kieran Powell early and then Brathwaite and Bonner could not do much and they were on the back foot. Chase and Blackwood since then have played well and have managed to keep the runs ticking. They would look to come back and move forward and get closer to the target.
Faheem Ashraf is back on.
Jermaine Blackwood comes out now.
Roston Chase is the next man in.
Review time! Pakistan are confident that they have got their man. The Ultra Edge shows a spike and West Indies lose Brathwaite.
Nkrumah Bonner is the next man in.
Review time! Powell has been given out LBW again. He has taken the review. No bat involved as shown by the UltraEdge. The Ball Tracker shows umpire's call on hitting the stumps.
Review time! Pakistan have taken a review for LBW. Wickets missing.
Shaheen Afridi will bowl from the other end.
