That is it from this game. Hyderabad have finally got off the mark for the season with a convincing win. Punjab have succumbed to their third loss in a row. We are not done for the day though as Kolkata take on Chennai in the second game of the day. Make sure to switch your tabs and join the coverage of that game. On that note, we are signing off from this game.

Jonny Bairstow is named Player of the Match for his fine performance.

KL Rahul, the Punjab skipper,  says that they knew what to expect. Tells they tried to get used to the condition but admits they were 10-15 runs short on this track. Rues the fact that none of the batters could go and make a 30-40 that could have made a difference. Hopes to come back stronger from this. Rahul says hindsight is a beautiful thing. Tells they knew Bairstow and Warner are key for them. Adds that he was waiting for one of them to get out and then attack as he knew they would try to attack n the first 6. Rahul says that every game from now on will be important for them. Tells that they have been in this situation before and now need to play with some freedom. Ends by saying that they need to learn from their mistakes and keep getting better.

Earlier in the game, Punjab opted to bat first and just kept losing wickets at regular intervals to find themselves in trouble. Rahul, Agarwal, Gayle, the three powerhouses of the batting failed. Nicholas Pooran fell for a duck again, this time, without facing a ball and the middle order failed as well. Shahrukh Khan with his 22 made sure the team got over 100 but that was never going to be enough. Credit to Hyderabad bowlers for keeping them down to such a low score. While all the bowlers were superb, Khaleel was the pick as he took 3. Sharma got two while Rashid, Bhuvneshwar and Kaul bagged 1 wicket apiece. And, chasing the score, Hyderabad easily crossed the line.

You cannot really blame the Punjab bowlers but to be honest, the shoulders were down in the very first over. They didn't look in the game at all and Warner and Bairstow had no difficulty in negotiating them. The spinners did manage to bowl a few tight overs but they needed wickets in a cluster and they never came. And Hyderabad have now lost three in a row.

Hyderabad knew that the target is not a big one. So, Warner took his time while Bairstow went after the balls. The duo added 73 for the first wicket and almost sealed the deal. Warner would've loved to finish things off but that wasn't to be. However, Bairstow and Williamson with their unbeaten stand took the team over the line without another hurdle. Bairstow reached his half-century. A bit slow but that was the demand on this wicket.

A walk in the park for Hyderabad! A thumping victory for them and they have opened their account on the points table. After the bowlers managed to keep the opposition to such a low score, it was always going to turn out this way. They would've loved to finish this a bit early though. Punjab, on the other hand, lacked intensity in the field and never looked troubling Hyderabad. And they have a lot to ponder if they are to make a comeback in the tournament.

Arshdeep Singh to Kane Williamson, WIDE! Anticlimactic end to the game! Hyderabad get their first win of the season. Short ball wide outside off. It is the slower bumper. It goes over the head and away outside off. Williamson leaves it alone. HYDERABAD WIN BY 9 WICKETS!
Arshdeep Singh to Jonny Bairstow, Short and wide outside off. Bairstow punches it to sweeper covr for a single. Scores level with that run!
Arshdeep Singh to Jonny Bairstow, DROPPED! A tough chance for Hooda and he cannot hold onto it. Full on off, Bairstow looks to hit it straght down the ground. It is to the right of mid off. Hooda there stretches and misjudges it as the ball hits his forearm and goes away.  Two taken.
Arshdeep Singh to Jonny Bairstow, SIX! Take that! Arshdepp goes full and in the slot with the pace on. Bairstow smokes it over the cow corner region for a biggie.
Arshdeep Singh to Jonny Bairstow, Slower ball outside off. Bairstow comes inside his stumps and looks to pull but misses.

Who will bowl the penultimate over of the game. Well, here's Arshdeep Singh. So, that Kumble message wasn't really about Arshdeep's injury. 10 needed in 12 balls? 2-wicket over? A maiden? Well, you never know.

Deepak Hooda to Kane Williamson, Short and turning in. Williamson gets on his back foot and looks to play but misses and gets hit on the body. 10 needed in 12 balls.
Deepak Hooda to Jonny Bairstow, Now JB chips it to long on and gets to the other end.
Deepak Hooda to Jonny Bairstow, Shorter on middle, Bairstow pulls it away from long on and gets a couple.
Deepak Hooda to Jonny Bairstow, A little yes, no but luckily no damage done. Flatter on off, Bairstow taps it to cover. The initial call is for a run. Jonny comes halfway down the track but Williamson sends him back. Luckily there is a midfield so no damage.
Deepak Hooda to Jonny Bairstow, Short outside off. Bairstow looks to cut but misses.
Deepak Hooda to Jonny Bairstow, FOUR! FIFTY FOR BAIRSTOW! This has been a very good knock from Bairstow. One of his slowest fifties but he has surely decided to do the job himself. A much-needed boundary too as this will calm a lot of nerves. Short on middle, Bairstow goes on his back foot and swats it over square leg for a boundary.

Arshdeep Singh was getting ready to bowl. But Kumble, the head coach of the side, sends some message via Hooda for the skipper. And the message is, to bowl Hooda. Maybe they do not want to risk Arshdeep's injury.

Murugan Ashwin to Kane Williamson, A very loopy ball which is very full on off. Williamson chops it to the leg side and looks for a run but Bairstow quickly says no to it.  4 off the over. Hyderabad need 17 in 18 balls now. Is there a twist in this tale?
Murugan Ashwin to Jonny Bairstow, Darted fuller on off. Bairstow hits it across the line to mid-wicket for one.
Murugan Ashwin to Jonny Bairstow, Good fielding! Short and spinning away. Bairstow stretches and punches it to the left of short cover. Pooran dives and saves runs for his side.
Murugan Ashwin to Kane Williamson, Short and this is the googly. Williamson turns it with the spin to mid-wicket for a run.
Murugan Ashwin to Jonny Bairstow, Short and spinning away. Bairstow gets ready to pull but then seeing the turn he jabs it to long on for one.
Murugan Ashwin to Kane Williamson, Loopy full toss on off. Williamson punches it to cover for one.

Bowling change! Murugan Ashwin to bowl out.

Arshdeep Singh to Kane Williamson, Slower bumper. Williamson was ready to play it towards third man. He has to wait for the ball to come. Kane waits and plays it through point but off the lower half of his bat. Single taken and that brings up 100 for Hyderabad. They still need 21 from 24 balls. This game is certainly not over folks.
Arshdeep Singh to Jonny Bairstow, Length ball around leg, Bairstow looks to play it on the leg side but gets an inside edge onto the pads. The ball goes to the leg side and they take a run.
Arshdeep Singh to Kane Williamson, Excellent effort from Moises Henriques! It will go down as a drop but it was a very tough chance. Length ball around off, Williamson comes down the track and looks to punch it through covers. He hits it uppishly to the right of short cover. Moises Henriques dives and gets his hand to it but the ball does not sit in. Single taken but certainly a boundary saved.
Arshdeep Singh to Jonny Bairstow, Length ball on off, Bairstow pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Arshdeep Singh to Jonny Bairstow, Slower ball wide outside off. Jonny looks to punch but misses.
Arshdeep Singh to Kane Williamson, Length delivery on off, Kane taps it to point and takes a quick single. The fielder has a shy at the keeper's end but misses.
Fabian Allen to Kane Williamson, Short and slower through the air, punched through backward point for an easy run. 26 more needed in 30 balls.
Fabian Allen to Jonny Bairstow, On middle, tucked down to fine leg for one.
Fabian Allen to Jonny Bairstow, Oh, dear! Bairstow would be irritated by now. This is probably a 5th Allen ball that was short and wide and Bairstow nailed the shot but found the fielder.
Fabian Allen to Kane Williamson, Shortish and around middle, Kane punches it down to long on for one.
Fabian Allen to Kane Williamson, Floated around off, Kane stays in the crease and blocks.
Fabian Allen to Jonny Bairstow, Short and wide outside off, cut to deep cover for a run.

Time Out! The Hyderabad cruise to their first win continues. They have lost Warner but Bairstow is motoring along nicely and the presence of Williamson has helped the 2016 champions keep their calm.  Just 30 away from a convincing win. Punjab will look to strike a few wickets and at least unsettle the Hyderabad dugout.

Deepak Hooda to Kane Williamson, Flat and around middle, Kane flicks it well but finds mid-wicket.

Arshdeep is off! This day just keeps getting worse and worse for Punjab. Arshdeep is walking off the field holding his left hand. It looks like he has done damage to his split webbing.

Deepak Hooda to Jonny Bairstow, Another short ball, Bairstow pulls it again. This time the deep mid-wicket fielder gets to his right and keeps it down to a single.
Deepak Hooda to Kane Williamson, Floated on middle, clipped towards square leg for one more easy run.
Deepak Hooda to Jonny Bairstow, Short again, Bairstow pulls it down to deep square leg for one.
Deepak Hooda to Kane Williamson, Short again and it is around off. It spins in. Kane tucks it through square leg for one.
Deepak Hooda to Kane Williamson, Short and just outside off, poked to the short cover fielder.

Change in bowling. Deepak Hooda is back on!

Fabian Allen to Kane Williamson, Single to finish the over. Flat and just outside off, Kane punches it little wide of the cover fielder and gets to the other end.
Fabian Allen to Jonny Bairstow, Tossed up and outside off, driven to long off for one.
