Phew! What a game we had at Sharjah! Rajasthan get their second win of the tournament while Punjab would be disappointed as this was a game which they should have won. That's all from this game then. On Monday, 28th September, 2020, we see Mumbai lock horns with Bangalore in Dubai. Join us for the action at 1800 local (1400 GMT). Until then, cheers and take care.

Sanju Samson, the MAN OF THE MATCH, says that he has been hitting the ball nicely from the last one year and he can see a change in his game. Adds that he wants to win games for his side and he is happy that they won. States that he has decided that he has more 10 years in cricket and he will dedicate everything to the sport he loves. Says that he has really worked hard on his fitness.

Steven Smith, the Rajasthan skipper, says that was some innings from Tewatia and it was an amazing game. Adds that he thought they had a chance in this game as it is a small ground and they gave themselves an opportunity and they got over the line. Adds that Samson has been hitting the ball really well. Says that they will need to adjust and the way Samson is hitting, he will hit it out of the park on any ground. Goes onto say that Tewatia has been hitting the ball really well in the nets and he started scratchy but he hung in there. Credits Tewatia for his innings. Goes onto say that they have a good balance of players and they have to adapt when they play at other grounds. Credits the bowlers as well for doing well at the death.

Rahul Tewatia is up for a chat. He says that he is better now that they have won the game. States that he was hitting the ball well in the nets and he had the belief in himself. Adds that he was not hitting the ball initially and he thought that he had to believe in himself and it was a matter of one six. Says that hitting 5 sixes in an over felt amazing. Finishes by saying that he will remember this knock for a long time.

KL Rahul, the Punjab skipper, says that this is T20 cricket and they need to keep their chins up and come back stronger. Adds that they had a lot of positives. States that a game like this keeps you humble all the time. States the bowlers can make mistakes and hopes to come back stronger. Says that he backs their bowlers to do the job for them. Goes onto say that it is a small ground and they have seen that the bowlers are going for some runs at the back-end.

Earlier in the day, after being inserted, Punjab amassed a massive 223 courtesy a Mayank Agarwal ton and another classy knock from Rahul. However, those efforts were overshadowed by brilliance from Smith, Samson and Tewatia to record the highest chase ever in the Indian T20 league.

Not a lot you can write about the bowlers in a game where almost 450 runs were scored. However, two international bowlers, Shami and Cottrell, you would expect them to defend something above 60 in the last 4. Cottrell probably had a day he would never want to look back on. That 30 runs in an over is probably the one which lost Punjab the game.

Chasing something above 220, it is not only the last few overs which wins you the game, a whole combined effort is needed and that is what Rajasthan's batting was about. Yes, Buttler did fall early but Smith and Samson played brilliantly. They added 81 in no time with Smith scoring a half ton. Once he fell, Samson took the onus of run-scoring onto him. He though was put under tremendous pressure by Tewatia as he was struggling out there. It seemed game over when Samson fell 15 short of a ton but Tewatia came to life and has taken his side over the line.

What a phenomenal run chase! It was gone for all money, absolutely gone when Samson was dismissed. Rajasthan though have found a new match-winner. Someone who at once seemed like lost the game for them. It was after Sanju's wicket, Tewatia came to the party. 8 sixes in total were hit in the 18th and the 19th over with Tewatia hitting 6 of those. He ended up scoring a half ton which is probably a knock one just can't forget.

M Ashwin to Tom Curran, FOUR! As easy as that says Curran! They were absolutely gone for all money! Flighted ball outside off, Curran makes room and powers it over extra cover for a boundary. RAJASTHAN WIN BY 4 WICKETS.

Tom Curran is into bat now.

M Ashwin to R Parag, OUT! Is there a twist in the tale? Punjab are not giving up! Excellent bowling from Murugan Ashwin! 2 needed from 4 balls! A googly on off, spins in. Parag shuffles across and looks to sweep but misses and the ball goes onto hit the stumps. The skipper, Rahul is happy.
M Ashwin to R Parag, A dot to start! Very full on off, Parag plays it back to the bowler.

Riyan Parag makes his way out to the middle. Murugan Ashwin will bowl the final over.

M Shami to R Tewatia, OUT! TAKEN! End of a brilliant knock from Tewatia. Surely we would not be saying that after we saw him facing his first 20 balls. What a statement he has made! He never looked like getting one biggie but now has played a match-winning knock. Shami digs it in short. It is on middle, Tewatia pulls but gets a top edge. It goes towards deep mid-wicket where the fielder takes it. 2 runs needed in the last over.
M Shami to R Tewatia, SIX! That is the blow which surely wins Rajasthan the game! Also, fifty up for Tewatia. Tremendous from him. he has played a knock which has taken his side to the brink of victory. A short one outside off, Tewatia slaps it and clears the cover fence for a biggie.
M Shami to J Archer, A single! Singles will do it! Fuller and outside off, this is carved over covers for one.
M Shami to J Archer, SIX! Thumped! Just the 9 needed in 9! Tremendous from Archer. It is a length ball around middle, Archer smashes it well over the long on fence for a huge one. Has to be Rajasthan's game from here.
M Shami to J Archer, SIX! Thumped! That is out of here! Shorter in length and on off, Archer stands tall and hammers it over the mid-wicket fence for a huge one. Pressure back on the bowler now.

Jofra Archer comes out to bat with 21 needed from 11 balls.

M Shami to R Uthappa, OUT! TAKEN! That is a high-pressure catch! Shami once again taking a timely wicket. That though was struck sweetly by Uthappa. It is fuller and on off, in the slot. Uthappa lifts it easily. He does not get the desired power behind it and holes out to Pooran at long off. 21 needed in 11 balls. Shami needs to bowl a gem of an over here.
S Cottrell to R Tewatia, SIX! What hitting! He has single-handedly taken Rajasthan to the top of the game! Cottrell has taken a real beating! Good length ball on off, Tewatia makes room and lifts it over the deep mid-wicket region for a maximum. 30 from the over.
S Cottrell to R Tewatia, SWING AND A MISS! Not his time! Good length ball outside off, Tewatia looks to swing it away but misses it altogether.
S Cottrell to R Tewatia, SIX! This game is not over! 4 sixes in a row! Absolute mayhem out there! Can anybody believe it? Low full toss on off, Tewatia moves across and powers it over deep mid-wicket for a biggie.
S Cottrell to R Tewatia, SIX! Make it three sixes in a row! Tewatia is proving everybody wrong! Excellent cricket! Fullish ball outside off, Tewatia smashes it over long off for a maximum.
S Cottrell to R Tewatia, SIX! Two in a row for Tewatia! He is turning it on now! Brilliant! Rajasthan are still not out of it yet! Shortish on middle, Tewatia lifts it over the deep square leg region for a maximum. That went out of the ground.
S Cottrell to R Tewatia, SIX! Great start to the over from Tewatia! Can he turn things around! Short ball around the pads, Tewatia pulls it over the deep square leg region for a biggie.

Sheldon Cottrell is back into the attack.

M Shami to R Uthappa, FOUR! Up and over! This is why Uthappa should have been sent above Tewatia. Fuller and on off, Robin lofts it over mid off and ends the over with a boundary. Back-to-back ones. 51 needed in 18.
M Shami to R Uthappa, FOUR! Poor delivery! A full toss on the pads, Uthappa loves it there. He works it behind square on the leg side and it races away to the fence.
M Shami to R Tewatia, Just the single again! A bumper on middle, Tewatia is hurried into the shot. It lobs towards the leg side. One taken.
M Shami to R Tewatia, Just the two! A full toss outside off, it is hit down towards wide long on for two. They need boundaries.
M Shami to R Uthappa, Fuller and on middle, this is worked down to long on for one.

Robin Uthappa is the next man in.

M Shami to S Samson, OUT! TAKEN! That is probably game over for Rajasthan! Shami, what a bowler he has been till now this season. Once again delivers when his captain needed but take a bow Samson. He has been outstanding. A one-man show especially in the last few overs. Had it not been for him, Rajasthan would have been out of the game already. Shami comes in and bowls a slower short ball. Samson's idea was right as he looks to upper cut it but it does not come off. It lobs towards Rahul who takes it.

Mohammed Shami is back on! 2-0-22-0 are his figures so far.

G Maxwell to S Samson, He takes a single! Fuller and on off, it is hit down to long off. 21 from the over. 63 needed in 24. Till the time Samson's in, Rajasthan have a chance.
G Maxwell to S Samson, SIX! 20 in the over now! Stand and deliver stuff! This is on middle, Samson stands tall and launches it over the wide long on fence. Last ball to go, what will Samson do?
G Maxwell to S Samson, On the pads, this is worked behind square on the leg side for two.
G Maxwell to S Samson, Does the right thing! Does not take the run. On off, it is hit down to long off. No run taken.
G Maxwell to S Samson, SIX! 150 up for Rajasthan! Another huge one! Over the leg side this time. Is this the over? 12 from 2. On middle, this is heaved over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie.
G Maxwell to S Samson, SIX! Hammered! Biggie to begin the over and Samson needs to make this a huge one! Maxwell fires it outside off. Samson smashes it on the up over the cover fence for a biggie.
R Bishnoi to R Tewatia, PLAY AND A MISS! Flatter outside off, Tewatia looks to reverse sweep but misses. 84 needed from 5 overs.
R Bishnoi to R Tewatia, SIX! Finally, Tewatia times one! Floated on middle, Tewatia dances down the track and lifts it over the bowler's head for a biggie.
R Bishnoi to R Tewatia, Another dot! He needs to hit or get out now! Short ball on off, Tewatia looks to pull but gets hit on the pads. He wants the single but is sent back by Samson.

R Bishnoi to S Samson, Flatter on middle, Samson flicks it to deep square leg and collects a single.
R Bishnoi to R Tewatia, Loopy ball on off, Tewatia looks to reverse sweep but it hits the top half and it goes towards deep cover. A single taken.
J Neesham to R Tewatia, Another single! Tewatia keeps strike. Punjab won't mind at all. Fuller and on off, it is hit down to long off for one.
J Neesham to S Samson, Leading edge but safe! Samson though missed out on a ball which he could have hit out of the park! It is a full toss on middle, Samson looks to flick but is early in the shot. A leading edge which lobs towards deep cover who can't get to it. One.

We had an intense week of exhilarating action in the Indian T20 League and the 9th match between Punjab and Rajasthan promises to be another cracker. Both the teams are coming off a big win. Rajasthan, despite all odds against them, defeated Chennai in their opening encounter and they will be brimming with confidence. The fact that they scored over 200 would have made them pleased along with the fine form of Sanju Samson and Steven Smith. The bowling too did a good job as they kept things quiet and not let Chennai find the boundaries at will. They have received further good news as Jos Buttler has finished his quarantine and will be available to play in the game against Punjab. He should slot in directly at the top of the order with Steven Smith moving down. They are playing their next game in Sharjah only which means that they did not have to travel. They would have had adequate rest and would be raring to go. Punjab, on the other hand, came back in a strong fashion after a demoralizing loss in their first game and defeated Bangalore by a big, big margin. It was their captain, KL Rahul who stole the show with a magnificent century, thus registering the highest score by an Indian in the Indian T20 League. Their middle order is still a concern but the form of the top order will give them immense confidence. The bowling is shaping up good with Mohammed Shami and Sheldon Cottrell doing a fine job at the start and then the spinners strangling the opposition in the middle overs. The head-to-head is close with Rajasthan winning 10 while Punjab have won 9. So - 10-10 or 11-9?
