RR: 8.74 | Namibia beat Netherlands by 6 wickets
Right then. That is all we have from this clash. We have one more game coming up. It will be played between Sri Lanka and Ireland. Do join us for the same at 6 pm Local (2 pm GMT). See you there!
Gerhard Erasmus, the skipper of Namibia, says it is a very special victory for them and their batters stepped up today. Adds that it was a decent wicket and they used the conditions pretty well. Tells that they have worked really hard to reach here and thanks the team for their efforts.
Pieter Seelaar, the skipper of Netherlands, says that the score was par and Namibia bowled quite well. Adds that in hindsight, he could have come onto bowl earlier. Finishes by saying that it is quite a tough loss for them.
David Wiese, Player of the Match, says that he is exhausted as it was very hot out there. Adds that they got a big over just before the Drinks break and that helped them. Tells that it is a special feeling to win this match for Namibia and thanks their management for believing in him and giving him a chance.
Earlier in the day, after electing to bat, courtesy of a good knock by Max O'Dowd, Netherlands got to a good score. They also managed to dismiss the top order of Namibia quickly but a blinder of a knock from David Wiese helped his side get over the line.
The Dutch bowling was really good in the first half but in the latter half, they just did not have any answers to the hitting of David Wiese. Except for Fred Klaassen, the rest were taken to the cleaners. Also, one wonders why Pieter Seelaar did not bowl more as he bowled a really good first over. Some poor bowling and poor decisions probably cost Netherlands.
Namibia were 51 for 3 and were in deep trouble. The run rate needed was almost 10 but then came the stand which completely changed the game. A 93-run stand between David Wiese and Gerhard Erasmus took Namibia to the brink of victory. David Wiese was the mainstay with a half ton. Gerhard Erasmus fell but David Wiese ensured he was there till the end and took his side over the line.
What an outstanding win for Namibia and their hopes are alive. Whereas, that is the end of the road for Netherlands. Have to say, David Wiese has taken the game away from the Dutch single-handedly. This is the first-ever win for them in a T20 WC match!
Who will bowl the penultimate over? Logan van Beek (3-0-23-0) is back on.
Change. Fred Klaassen (3-0-11-1) is back on.
JJ Smit walks out to bat. 20 needed from 19 balls.
Review time! Gerhard Erasmus takes the review with 2 seconds left on the clock! There is a spike as the ball goes past the bat. He will walk back.
Pieter Seelaar is on now.
Review time! Netherlands opt for a review! David Wiese has been struck on the pads and the Dutch feel that they have got their man here! A huge moment in this game!
Bas de Leede comes to bowl.
Logan van Beek (2-0-16-0) is back into the attack.
Colin Ackermann (2-0-13-1) is back on.
Drinks break! The last two wickets have put Netherlands on top now. Namibia would need David Wiese to play a big knock from here if they are to win this game. Gerhard Erasmus would also need to support Wiese well but expect the Dutch to come hard at them now. Timm van der Gugten comes back into the attack.
Gerhard Erasmus is the new man in.
Roelof van der Merwe comes to bowl now.
Craig Williams walks out to bat.
Logan van Beek comes to bowl.
Who will bowl from the other end? Colin Ackermann it is.
