That concludes the proceedings for the second T20I. The last match of this series is on Thursday, 1st April 2021, in Auckland at 1900 local (0600 GMT). You can join us well in advance for the build-up. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!

Tim Southee, the captain of New Zealand, starts by calling it an unusual game with the rain around but he is glad that his boys adjusted well. Tells that it's been a great summer and they were privileged to have teams travel here in these times. Southee admits that Bangladesh did put them under pressure. Praises Glenn Phillips for doing a great job with the wet ball and shares that he just went with his gut feeling regarding the bowling changes. Informs that the slower deliveries were holding up. He is pleased to get over the line and is now looking to end their summer on a high.

Mahmudullah, the captain of Bangladesh, starts by saying there was a bit of confusion related to the DLS target. Feels they were on track in the first 10 overs but then lost the plot in the next 6. States that Naim and Sarkar gave them the momentum but Sodhi and Phillips' overs were extremely good and they failed to capitalize. Shares that Taskin's outstanding catch gave them a lot of confidence. Feels that it's important to finish well in the T20 format which is not happening for them at the moment. Mentions that the top order has been in great form and hopes to take the positives into the next match.

Glenn Phillips is chosen for the Man of the Match award! Says that they were trying to hit the ball hard and run a lot of twos. Talking about Daryl Mitchell, Phillips mentions that to have a partner at the other end who is on fire really helps. Tells that there is always a dilemma regarding DLS when you're thinking about going hard or saving wickets as it might affect the equation. States that he has been working on his bowling and it's always about handling nerves.

Earlier in the match, we witnessed a good bowling and fielding show from Bangladesh, for a change. However, the rain break spoiled their good work as New Zealand managed to bounce back through the powerful stand between Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell. Their scintillating hitting provided the late surge to the Kiwis and due to that the revised target for Bangladesh, turned out to be more than enough in the end.

The chase of Bangladesh was all about the partnership between Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar. They batted with authority and managed to steal the momentum away from New Zealand. The pair started the onslaught by targeting Ish Sodhi's first over which went for 19 runs and followed that up with 20 runs from Adam Milne's second over. However, Tim Southee's decision to hand the ball to Glenn Phillips, the part-timer, did the magic for the Blackcaps. He bowled a very tidy first over and then Sodhi redeemed himself by delivering a 5-run over after that. Due to a couple of dry overs, the required rate mounted and it resulted in the wickets of first Sarkar and then Naim. The chase derailed after that with the Kiwi bowlers finding the target and bowling enough good balls to defend the total.

End of a rain-truncated game and New Zealand have taken an unassailable lead in the 3-match T20I series. Once again Bangladesh chose to offer a fight in the second match of the series but again it was not enough to beat New Zealand. The Blackcaps have now extended their dominance this summer after bagging their 7th series at home.

Hamish Bennett to Mahedi Hasan, NEW ZEALAND WIN BY 28 RUNS (DLS METHOD)! Too full in length on middle, almost served in the blockhole, Mahedi drives it down the ground for a run.
Hamish Bennett to Mahedi Hasan, Comedy again! Fuller length ball around leg, a knuckle delivery, Hasan heaves it over mid-wicket. Two fielders converge, Phillips and Allen. Both leave it for each other before Glenn realizes and picks the ball. Two taken.

Hamish Bennett to Mahedi Hasan, What happened there? Miscommunication between Southee and Guptill. A knuckle delivery, around off, Mahedi mistimes it in the air over extra cover and Southee from inside the ring and Guptill from long off go for it. The former leaves it alone thinking that the latter will go for it, Guptill does the same. Funny! The ball drops right in the middle of them. One run taken.
Hamish Bennett to Mahedi Hasan, SIX! Short in length and close to off, Mahedi gets across and is through with his shot early. Still packs it with good power and the ball clears the fence at square leg.

Hamish Bennett to bowl the final over of the match.

Hamish Bennett to Mohammad Saifuddin, Shortish and on middle, pulled towards mid-wicket for a run.
Tim Southee to Mohammad Saifuddin, A dipping yorker on off, Saifuddin digs it out to the off side for a single.

DRS time! Shout for an lbw! Not given. Southee has decided to review it.

Tim Southee to Mahedi Hasan, NOT OUT! Missing leg. A length ball around middle and leg, angling down, Mahedi tries to heave it across the line but misses. He is pinged on the front pad, they appeal but the umpire disagrees. Tim takes the DRS as the batsmen cross. The Ball Tracker finds it to be missing the leg pole.
Tim Southee to Mohammad Saifuddin, Miscued! Pitches it up and wide outside off, Saifuddin reaches out to play the lofted shot over covers. But it takes the toe end and flies towards mid off. Drops safely, a single is taken.

A knuckle-ball around middle and leg, Mithun tries to play the paddle scoop but doesn't have any pace to work with. Ends up inside edging it towards the keeper who dives across to his left to complete a fantastic catch.

Mahedi Hasan is the new batsman in.

Adam Milne to Mohammad Mithun, Width on offer outside off, Mithun edges it down to third man for a run.

Mohammad Mithun is the next batsman in.

Adam Milne to Mahmudullah, OUT! CLATTERED! The slower one does the trick for the speed merchant. Milne bowls it on a length and in the line of the stumps at 116 kph, Mahmudullah shuffles across the stumps for the paddle scoop but it arrives late to beat his bat and finds the stumps. New Zealand inching closer to sealing the deal.

Adam Milne is back on.

Adam Milne to Afif Hossain, Too full in length and on middle, Hossain whips it through mid-wicket for a run.
Glenn Phillips to Mahmudullah, FOUR! This one probably slips out of Phillips' hand. A full toss outside off, Mahmudullah attacks it and lofts it over backward point for a boundary. 8 runs and a wicket from the over.
Glenn Phillips to Afif Hossain, Follows the batsman down the leg side with a shortish ball, Afif tries his best to cut but misses. Conway also fails to connect and they take a bye.
Glenn Phillips to Mahmudullah, Short and on off, Mahmudullah goes back and cuts it through cover-point for a run.
Glenn Phillips to Afif Hossain, Aerial but safe! Flatter and around off, Afif tries to heave but gets it away off the top edge. It beats the despairing dive of the extra cover fielder and they take a run.
Glenn Phillips to Mahmudullah, Flighted and outside off, driven through covers for a single.

Afif Hossain is the new batsman in.

Glenn Phillips to Mohammad Naim, OUT! Phillips strikes to get his first international wicket! Naim is also out of here and the asking rate gets the better of him. The pressure was mounting on him. Full and floated on off, Naim aims to clear long off but gets more height than distance. Guptill comes running in from the deep and takes the simplest of catches. 60 needed off 23 balls and this match is drifting away from Bangladesh now.

Tim Southee to Mohammad Naim, Slower one, on a length and around leg, Naim stays leg side and tries to work around but ends up pushing it back to Tim.
