That's it from everyone here. Thanks for all those mails and do keep them coming in. Until tomorrow when there is another double header where Punjab take on Kolkata and Bangalore meet Mumbai this is Shirshendu alongwith Nishant signing off.. Cheers!
Jakati: I was just waiting for my chance. I knew the wickets are quite helpful now. I have been working hard in the nets with Venky and Fleming. I just wanted to bowl wicket to wicket. Vary my pace, the straighter ones with the quicker ones and the slower ones.
Dhoni: Of course it is nice to win games, especially back to back. Suresh Raina and Badri batted superbly. I, Oram and Albie failed to capitalise on the start. We did not hit a single big hit. Tyagi got us a couple of crucial wickets and then everyone chipped in. Jakati was brilliant in the nets, Joginder was not bowling well so we picked Jakati. Even if it is a good flat track, left arm spinners can definitely have an impact on the game.
Gambhir: 160 was a very chaseable total on this track. This is the kind of a tournament where all the sides are very close to each other. We cant afford to be complacent. It will be great to have Sehwag back at the top of the order. Fantastic to see David Warner get runs, got his opportunity and he grabbed it with both hands. First IPL match, first fifty, fantastic achievement.
Shadab Jakati is the Man of the Match for his match winning spell of 4/24.
It was a disastrous start for the DareDevils as they lost Gambhir and de Viliers off consecutive balls and Dilshan was quick to follow them back into the dug-out. Just when Delhi was being written off, Warner and Karthik got together to treat us with some high quality batting, fireworks all around as they carted the bowlers to every possible corner of the park. Both of them got to their fifties and looked good to seal the game for Delhi too but just then Jakati spun his side back into the contest. He removed the two key men and since then it was a landslide and by that time we knew Delhi stood no chance. Well, one positive thing that comes out of this Delhi defeat is that the tournament has heated up further with the points table looking a lot more competitive than it was sometime before. What a wonderful contest this is panning out to be. You just blink and you miss it! By the way, don't go too far away as we will bring you the post match updates in a bit...
19.6 Balaji to Mishra, FOUR!!, banged in short again, Mishra has a big swing at that one, top edges it over the keeper for four, streaky shot for another boundary, doesn't matter, it won't affect the end result in any way!
19.5 Balaji to Mishra, no run, back to the fuller length stuff, Mishra goes down on one knee targetting the cover area, misses it completely
19.4 Balaji to Mishra, SIX!!, Banged in short this time, little error and Mishra is quick to pounce on it, goes back before hammering it towards backward square leg for a biggie, cleanly struck!
19.3 Balaji to Mishra, no run, slower delivery this time, Mishra has another big big swing at it, result is the same although the swing is getting hardder and bigger
19.2 Balaji to Mishra, no run, and the job continues...
19.1 Balaji to Mishra, no run, very full outside the off stump, Mishra continues with the ceremony of swinging and missing
Ashish Nehra, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Laxmipathy Balaji to bowl the final over
Albie Morkel to Bhatia, out Caught by Balaji at cover!! And finally the full ball has done the trick, once again finding the blockhole, Bhatia tries to squirt it out, scoops a catch in the direction of cover, Balaji comes in running to take a good diving catch, another man bites the dust, these are all nails being driven into the Delhi coffin, beautiful over from Albie Morkel! Bhatia c Balaji b Albie Morkel 2(7)
18.5 Albie Morkel to Bhatia, no run, fired in full again, Bhatia has another swing at it, misses again
18.4 Albie Morkel to Bhatia, no run, fired into the blockhole again, just outside off and Bhatia has a full swing at that one, misses it totally, he completed a full circle in the air with his bat
18.3 Albie Morkel to Mishra, 1 run, drifting into the right hander, Mishra closes the face of the bat and glances it to fine leg for a single, gets off the mark with that run
18.2 Albie Morkel to Mishra, no run, length ball outside the off stump, Mishra backs away to swing it over the covers perhaps, misses it completely
18.1 Albie Morkel to Bhatia, 1 run, right up in the blockhole, Bhatia digs it out on the off side for a single
Albie Morkel is back into the attack
Amit Mishra, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Jakati to Sangwan, out Bowled!! Jakati fires this very full, Sangwan tries to cart it over mid wicket, doesn't connect at all on that occasion, the stumps are rattled, Sangwan is gone, Jakati picks up another one, he has proved to be the difference today, what a spell, mesmerising stuff! Sangwan b Jakati 0(3)
17.5 Jakati to Sangwan, no run, turner from Jakati, comes back into the right hander sharply, Sangwan whips it hard but fails to avoid the man at short mid wicket
17.4 Jakati to Sangwan, no run, defended this time
17.3 Jakati to Bhatia, 1 run, pushed towards point for a quick single
Pradeep Sangwan, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Jakati to Karthik, out Caught by Muralitharan at deep square leg!! Karthik slog sweeps this time, not middled, off the top edge and lands safely in the pouch of Murali at square leg, the drop doesn't prove costly in the end, Badri will heave a huge sigh of relief! Karthik c Muralitharan b Jakati 52(31) [4s-7 6s-1]
17.1 Jakati to Karthik, FOUR!!, Karthik decides to go downtown, lofts it over the top, Badri at long off misjudges it completely, runs in a long way up, messes it up completely, the ball lands behind him, catch dropped!! FIFTY!! for Karthik, how costly would this prove now?
16.6 Muralitharan to Bhatia, no run, steered towards point and off for a quick single, shy at the striker's end and Mahendra Singh Dhoni does well to break the stumps, Bhatia dives back to make it in the end, good work by the fielding team, silly calling for the running though!
16.5 Muralitharan to Bhatia, no run, defended on the frontfoot on the off side
Rajat Bhatia, right handed bat, comes to the crease
More than Warner, it has been Karthik who has done the damage for Delhi. While Warner scored 51 off 40 balls, Karthik has scored 48 off just 29 balls. They need his wicket more than anybody's now. But then they won't complaint if others go out, will they?
Muralitharan to Manhas, out Bowled!! Pressure telling clearly now, Muralitharan tosses it up fuller this time, Manhas has a big swing across the line, misses it completely as the ball goes thundering into the stumps, is this a turnaround? Manhas b Muralitharan 0(4)
16.3 Muralitharan to Manhas, no run, big swing across the line and Manhas misses it
16.2 Muralitharan to Manhas, no run, defended straight back to the bowler this time
16.1 Muralitharan to Karthik, 1 run, flighted delivery on the middle and leg, Karthik slog sweeps it towards mid wicket for a single
Muttiah Muralitharan is back into the attack
