With rain ruining today's game, Sri Lanka's chances to make it to the finals are really slim. They need to win both their next matches and hope India lose to Australia on Sunday. India meanwhile, need to win just one of their two games to book a spot in the finals. Join us on Sunday then for the next game, until then it's goodbye.

10:10 pm: The rain's just gotten heavier and play has now been officially called off. Australia win by 24 runs on the D/L method and secure the bonus point and as you might have guessed they are through to the finals.

10:00 pm: We'll have the next update in about twenty minutes. In case there is no further play, Australia would have won with a bonus point, not that it matters really considering a win would assure them of a place in the finals.

9:40 pm: A few of the Sri Lankans are out on the field, racing away with remote controlled cars. On the cricket front, the cut off time is 10:20. There's still some drizzle across the ground and the groundsmen reckon they'll need about half an hour to get things ready.

9:25 pm Local Time : Still raining and the covers are firmly in place

Our meteorologist friend from Australia informs us that "radar doesn't look promising...Heavy showers approaching the MCG". The official word is not out yet though
