6

to Lewis, SIX, Lewis is done with his sighters. He gets into his business now. Spots the length ball early, goes back and butchers it into the deep mid-wicket stands

6

to Lewis, SIX, what a shot. He doesn't even bother looking at it. bowls it in his arc and Lewis parcels it up and dispatches it over cow corner. Brute power from Lewis

W

to Lewis, out Caught by Moeen Ali!! Two sixes and he's gone. gets his revenge. England draw blood in the second over. Banged in short and it rose sharply at Lewis. He went for the pull but it got too big on him. He only manages to splice it up in the air to mid-on. Moeen Ali, the centurion holds onto it with ease. So, one of the big-hitters for the Windies back in the hut early in the innings. Lewis c Moeen Ali b 13(8) [6s-2]

4

to Gayle, FOUR, nonchalance from Gayle. Full and outside off, Gayle loads up big time and lifts it easily over mid-off. Bounces just inside the fence and goes over the ropes

6

to Gayle, SIX, he didn't time it alright but that's his power that the ball travels over the fence at deep mid-wicket. shortens his length and keeps it on the body. Gayle went for it, dragged off the higher part of his willow and sends it all the way for a maximum

4

to Shai Hope, FOUR, beautiful from Hope. This was on a drivable length, he transferred his weight forward and creamed it through extra cover. Didn't try to over-hit it, just relied on his timing

4

to Gayle, FOUR, in the air and over backward point. Gayle is living dangerously. Short and outside off, he threw his bat at it and manages to clear a leaping backward point fielder

4

to Gayle, FOUR, this came right off the middle. isn't learning and drags it short again. Gayle stays in his crease and blasts it through extra cover

4

to Gayle, FOUR, thumped away! Back of a length just outside off, Gayle clears his front leg and slaps it with ferocity over cover

4

to Shai Hope, FOUR, Hope joins into the act. Short and enough room for Hope to carve it away behind point

4

to Shai Hope, FOUR, very very wristy from Hope. Leg-stump half-volley from , Hope gets beside the line and unfurls his magical wrists into play to place it wide of mid-on

4

to Gayle, FOUR, Gayle is on the move now. Sees the slower short ball early, rocks back and pummels it over mid-wicket

4

to Gayle, FOUR, deft touch this time. banged it short, Gayle backs away and is aware that the third man is inside the ring. So he ramps it over the fielder in the ring and it races away to the fence

6

to Gayle, SIX, Gayle launches his missile into the deep mid-wicket stands. Predictable lengths from the English bowlers, dropped short and Gayle was ready for it. Backed away and smoked it over mid-wicket for a maximum. Went some 10 rows back

4

to Shai Hope, FOUR, violence at one end and class at the other. Hope is looking in fine touch. Leans across and spanks it crisply through extra cover. Once it beat the in-field, there was no stopping it

4

Ali to Gayle, FOUR, Gayle takes the aerial route against Ali and succeeds. Didn't come off the middle, he intended for a downtown loft, but ends up slicing it over extra cover

W

to Shai Hope, out Caught by Buttler!! Edged and taken. breaks the stand in his second over. Full and wooed the batsman into a drive. It was fairly wide of off and Hope didn't want to miss out. He went for it without moving his feet much and ended up feathing it into the mitts of Buttler. and England are jubilant. Shai Hope c Buttler b 20(25) [4s-4]

6

Ali to Gayle, SIX, 38-ball fifty for Gayle. Reaches the milestone in style with a six. Waves his bat to the crowd and the dressing room. Flat at the stumps, Gayle went back quickly and clubbed it over deep mid-wicket

4

Ali to Gayle, FOUR, it was uppish but falls short of deep mid-wicket. Flatter on middle, Gayle rocks back and pulls sans any conviction. It drops short of the incoming deep mid-wicket fielder and he fails to get his body behind the line

4

to Samuels, FOUR, Samuels throws the kitchen sink and gets a profitable result. Short and outside off, Samuels goes hard and slices it over point

W

to Samuels, out Caught by Buttler!! Fantastic review from England. Credit to Buttler as he was the one who persuaded Morgan to take the review. Short and outside off, Samuels went chasing at it and missed. There was a muted appeal and the umpire wasn't interested. But there was a certain deviation as the ball went past the bat. Ultra-Edge spotted a spike and it was enough for the third umpire to overturn the on-field call. Windies lose their third wicket. Samuels c Buttler b 11(11) [4s-1]

6

Ali to J Mohammed, SIX, tossed up delivery on the stumps, Mohammed presents the full face of the bat as he swings through the line and sends it way into the long-off stands

4

to Gayle, FOUR, deft from Gayle. Sees the opportunity as the fielder was inside the ring. Opens the bat face and runs it down to third man region for a boundary

6

Ali to Gayle, SIX, that is so effortless from Gayle. Very full again and he clears his front foot and nails it flat towards long-on. Hits the ad board on the full

6

Ali to Gayle, SIX, two-in-two for Gayle. In his zone and he makes it count. Gets under the ball and sends it way into the long-on stands

6

Ali to Gayle, SIX, this is even better. Holds his shape and sends it through the line over long-off. Moves into the ninties with that massive hit

4

to J Mohammed, FOUR, now Mohammed gets into the act. It was short and wide outside off, he sits on the back foot and cuts it fiercely past backward point. Third man had no chance to cut that off

4

to J Mohammed, FOUR, phew! That was clubbed so hard. Short delivery sits up nicely for Mohammed to pull. He picked the length up early and nails it to deep mid-wicket. The ball bounces just once inside the boundary

W

to Gayle, out Gayle Run Out!! Umpire wants to have a look at the run-out chance. Has Gayle made it? Well I don't think so. He is inches short and OUT flashes on the giant screen. A tame dismissal puts Gayle six runs short of a well deserved century. He taps it into the on-side and goes for the run. Just like what happened in the T20. He did sprint initially, but the throw from Rashid was acccurate to catch him inches short at the bowler's end. He walks off to a standing ovation. Gayle run out (Adil Rashid) 94(78) [4s-9 6s-6]

4

Rashid to J Mohammed, FOUR, Mohammed chips it over mid-on and had enough to make it to the fence. The fielder put in a desperate dive, but couldn't pull it back in

6

Rashid to Rovman Powell, SIX, very full from Rashid. Powell clears his front foot and smokes it straight down the ground. A huge hit that

W

Rashid to Rovman Powell, out Caught by Woakes!! Rovman Powell departs trying to up the ante. Wants to repeat the shot he played earlier and fails. Wasn't there to the pitch of the ball, yet wants to go through with the shot and skies it under long-on. Woakes settles himself under the ball and takes it cleanly. Rovman Powell c Woakes b Rashid 8(9) [6s-1]

6

Rashid to Holder, SIX, finally Holder gets hold off one. Clears his front foot and slog sweeps it way into the deep mid-wicket stands. Came right off the screws

OT

Ali to Holder, no run, loud shout for LBW! Ali discusses about a review and they go for it. Front foot is fine, it is pitching in line, but is going well over the stumps. So the on-field call stays. Holder plays outside the line of the ball and misses. The ball pings him high on the pads and rolls away. England lose their review

6

Ali to Holder, SIX, 27th Six of the day. Holder gets under the ball and hits it straight over the bowler's head to spoil Ali's bowling figures even further

W

to J Mohammed, out Caught by Bairstow!! Windies are six down. goes for the short delivery and gets the reward. The ball gets big on Mohammed's pull. Hits high on the bat and skies to deep square leg, who settles underneath and takes a simple catch. J Mohammed c Bairstow b 38(53) [4s-3 6s-1]

W

Rashid to Nurse, out Lbw!! Oh that's out. Nurse will go for the review, but I'm not sure he'll find too much joy. Flighted leg-break on middle, doesn't turn as much as he expects and he plays outside the line of it. Uff, it's tighter than I thought originally, as it's only clipping the off-bail. But Nurse has to go. Nurse lbw b Rashid 1(5)

4

to Devendra Bishoo, FOUR, short of length outside off, Bishoo ramps it down to the third man boundary. Smartly done

4

to Holder, FOUR, short ball, around shoulder height, pulled away backward of square for four

4

Rashid to Devendra Bishoo, FOUR, floats up a loopy full toss which is put away without fuss by Bishoo. He gets down and sweeps it through backward square

6

to Holder, SIX, and this six creates a new record for the number of sixes hit in an ODI in England - 28 sixes. Holder steps out towards and uses the long handle to great effect. Clears long-off with ease

W

to Devendra Bishoo, out Caught by Eoin Morgan!! Taken at backward point. It was the slower off-cutter which gripped the surface a touch. It spooned off the outside edge as Bishoo tried hacking it through mid-wicket, and resulted in a simple catch to Morgan. Devendra Bishoo c Eoin Morgan b 12(14) [4s-2]

W

Rashid to Jerome Taylor, out Bowled!! Doesn't pick the googly off the back foot, and it slips through bat and pad to clip off-stump. It even grazed the back pad before heading towards the timber. Would have been out on two accounts. We're almost done here. Jerome Taylor b Rashid 0(1)

4

Rashid to Miguel Cummins, FOUR, goes round the wicket and drifts it in too straight this time, Cummins sweeps again and gets it much finer, past backward square, for four

W

to Holder, out Caught by Moeen Ali!! And that's that. England seal a massive win. Fullish length ball, Holder goes downtown and hits it straight to who else but Moeen Ali. rounds off a five-for as well. Holder c Moeen Ali b 34(26) [4s-1 6s-3]

4

Taylor to Bairstow, FOUR, "Catch" was the loud shout from Taylor, but it flies away through the covers. A sharp away-curler from Taylor, shaped away after pitching. Bairstow was caught at sea as the ball took the leading edge and escaped away to the fence. Bairstow's heart would've been in his mouth for a split second there

4

to Hales, FOUR, Hales' motor has been coughed up. Short and plenty of width on offer, Hales cashes on it by spanking it behind point. He spotted the length quickly there and didn't have any half measures in putting it away to the fence

6

to Bairstow, SIX, they couldn't capitalize on the first free-hit but Bairstow makes sure he gets the desired result this time. He knew what was coming, he set up a solid base on leg-stump and as soon as he saw the ball was dropped short, he flexed his strong forearms and golf-swung it over mid-wicket. Into the stands! That must be embarrassing for

W

to Bairstow, out Caught&Bowled!! What a comeback from the Windies' skipper. He has the final laugh. Windies get the breakthrough they dearly wanted. Banged in short, perhaps climbed more than what Bairstow expected there. He was early into his hoick, sort of caught in two minds as he didn't go with full conviction. The ball catches the top-edge and went up in the air. called for it and settles under the dolly. Then throws the ball up in delight. Bairstow c and b 13(17) [4s-1 6s-1]

4

Taylor to Root, FOUR, bit uppish, however it was in the gap. Leg-stump half-volley from Taylor, bread and butter for Root, he shuffles across and clips it on the rise through mid-wicket. Races away to the fence

4

Taylor to Root, FOUR, overcorrects and bangs it short, sits up nicely for Root. He swivels across and controls the pull along the ground behind square on the leg-side. Fine leg was a mute spectator

4

Taylor to Root, FOUR, horrible end to the over for Taylor. Three consecutive fours for Root, again errs in line and fires it on the pads. Root ain't sparing those and he flicks it effortlessly over square leg

4

to Hales, FOUR, easy pickings for Hales. drifts it on leg, Hales gets inside the line and whacks it over mid-wicket. There was a fielder in the deep, he ran across but in vain as the ball wins the race

4

Taylor to Root, FOUR, too leg-sidish from Windies. Again Taylor's radar goes for a toss as he veers it on the pads. Root shuffles across and stylishly clips it away through mid-wicket

4

Taylor to Hales, FOUR, class written all over it. Balance, timing and placement all in sync. Windies are leaking boundaries now. Juicy half-volley on off, Hales' weight is forward as he presents a full face of the bat to cream it straight down the ground. No need to run for those

4

Taylor to Hales, FOUR, short and put away with disdain. High percentage shot from Hales, saw the width early and went up and over cover

4

Cummins to Hales, FOUR, elegance personified. Hales is looking in fabulous touch here. Cummins doles a half-volley on the stumps, Hales leans forward, shows the full face of the bat and caresses it straight down the ground, beats mid-on and wanders away to the fence

W

Cummins to Hales, out Lbw!! An appeal for an lbw. The umpire isn't interested and Holder has a chat with the keeper and shows up the T-sign. Fair delivery. No bat involved says the third umpire. Three reds. Pitching - in-line. Impact - in-line. Wickets - hitting. Hales has to depart. Excellent review from Holder and Co. The dangerous Hales has been chugged down. The bowling change has worked for the Windies. Cummins didn't get bogged down after conceding a boundary in the over. On a length and it came back in sharply, Hales was caught in a state of flux. Couldn't combat the indipper as he hung his bat forward. The ball sneaks in, beats the inside edge and raps him on the pad. The on-field call was NOT OUT. They went upstairs and the decision came in their favour. On first viewing, it looked like height was an issue, but it wasn't to be. Hales lbw b Cummins 36(35) [4s-5]

W

to Eoin Morgan, out Caught by Shai Hope!! Golden duck for Morgan. What is happening here? Two wickets in a span of three balls. England are in some trouble. Superb line from , pitched up in the corridor of uncertainty and the ball held its line. Morgan had a tentative poke at it and the nick is held safely by the keeper moving to his left. is pumped and so are the rest of his team-mates. Morgan's rough patch continues. Eoin Morgan c Shai Hope b 0(1)

4

Cummins to Stokes, FOUR, quality from Stokes. There's very little margin for error when you bowl to him. Cummins goes full and overpitches a tad, Stokes leans forward and with a straight bat face drills it past mid-on

4

to Root, FOUR, latched onto in a flash! Short and tagged with width, Root rides the bounce, opens the bat face to find the placement and punches it past point

6

Cummins to Root, SIX, top-edge and it carries all the way for a maximum. Twirled on a short of length on leg, Root sought for a pull, skews a top-edge in the process and plenty of wood behind it to take it over the man at fine leg

4

Cummins to Stokes, FOUR, what a shot. Stokes at his aggressive best. A nimble charge down the track, with a clean swing of the willow to lift it over mid-on. Didn't come off the middle but he won't mind

4

to Stokes, FOUR, top shot that from Stokes, but poor from Windies. Short third man should have stopped that. Instead he lets it sneak under his hands. Stokes gets into position early and reverse sweeps it to the right of the fielder and collects four

OT

Bishoo to Root, 1 run, shortish in length on the stumps, punched down to long-on. Single brings up yet another fifty for Root

6

Bishoo to Stokes, SIX, can't keep Stokes quite for a long time. This had to come and it has. Sees the tossed up and quickly skips down the track to thump it straight over the bowler's head for a flat six

4

Bishoo to Stokes, FOUR, poor delivery from Bishoo. There was no protection in the deep and this short delivery deserves a boundary. Stokes rocks on the back foot and cuts it through cover region. Doesn't bother to run as it raced away into the fence

4

to Stokes, FOUR, Stokes picked that outside leg-stump and reverse sweeps it wide of short third man. The fielder the deep too had no chance to cut that off

OT

to Stokes, 1 run, yet another half-century for Stokes. His 10th in ODIs. Knocks it down to long-on and soaks in the applause by the crowd and his team-mates

4

Powell to Root, FOUR, lovely shot! It was short and wide outside off, Root gets on top of the ball and cuts it between short third man and backward point. Raced away in a hurry

OT

to Stokes, 1 run, 100-run stand comes up between these two. Stokes clears his front foot and slogs off the inner half of the blade to deep square leg

4

to Root, FOUR, poor delivery down the leg, Root gets inside the line and helps it down to fine leg. The fielder in the deep tries to save with his boot and fails. A poor effort that

6

to Root, SIX, Root gets hold of it this time. Clears his front foot and slog sweeps it into the deep mid-wicket stands

6

to Stokes, SIX, in the slot and is dispatched from hsi presence. Stokes clears his front foot and thumps it straight down the ground. A flat hit towards sightscreen

6

to Stokes, SIX, Stokes is opening up. Gets another full ball in his arc. He gets under the ball and swings through the line and collects six more. That sailed deep into long-off stands

W

Powell to Stokes, out Caught by Lewis!! Against the run of play. Just when Stokes was looking to open up, he miscues one and is hold out at sweeper cover. This was angled away from Stokes, who tries to reach out for the ball with a lofted drive. He gets it off the cue end and the ball skies under Lewis, who takes it comfortably without any fuss. Stokes c Lewis b Powell 73(63) [4s-5 6s-3]

W

Cummins to Buttler, out Bowled!! Dream delivery for any bowler. That just clipped the off bail on its way. Buttler couldn't do much with that as it was too good a ball for a new batsman. Cummins goes wide of crease and gets it to hold it line on off-stump. Buttler defends inside the line of the ball and sees the bails fly. Big wicket this for Windies as Buttler could have been destructive at the fag end of the innings. Buttler b Cummins 2(4)

4

Powell to Moeen Ali, FOUR, Powell ends with a poor delivery down the leg. Moeen Ali helps it down to fine leg with a pull off the inside edge

W

Cummins to Root, out Lbw!! The finger has gone up straight away. Root goes for a review after a brief chat. Geez, what a wicket this would be if it's upheld. No bat involved, for sure. And it's hitting leg-stump. Three reds. Root's head just fell over there, as he tried to flick the ball through mid-wicket. And it was a full and nippy delivery from Cummins too. So another instance of Root not converting his fifty into a hundred - something that would annoy him. The bigger picture though is that West Indies are fighting back superbly. Root lbw b Cummins 84(79) [4s-7 6s-2]

4

Cummins to Moeen Ali, FOUR, pulls this well in front of square. Even though the ball was pretty wide outside off, Ali got into position quickly. He fetched that nicely and gave it a fair whack

4

Powell to Moeen Ali, FOUR, flashy edge through the vacant slip cordon for four more. Ali getting bit of a move on. This was a bit too close to cut, but he threw his bat at it nonetheless

4

Powell to Moeen Ali, FOUR, that's not short at all but Ali has latched onto it so quickly. Jumps back to create his length and pulls hard through mid-wicket

4

Taylor to Moeen Ali, FOUR, the top-edge from Ali has flown over the keeper for a one-bounce four. He swung off his feet to pull the ball, even though the length wasn't there. Lucky runs

4

Taylor to Woakes, FOUR, picks his spot nicely. Mid-off was up, and Woakes opened himself up a little bit to loft it over the infield. It wasn't the greatest delivery from Taylor either, bowling it right in the slot around off. It's the fifty-run partnership too

6

Cummins to Moeen Ali, SIX, heaves the ball over wide long-on. Got a fair chunk of that, and the ferocity of the swing did the rest

6

Cummins to Moeen Ali, SIX, back-to-back sixes. And this one's gone even further. Fullish around off, Ali clears his front leg and smokes it into the deep mid-wicket stands. Fifty for him. His season keeps getting better

4

Cummins to Moeen Ali, FOUR, thick outside edge runs away for four. Although this wasn't where Ali intended for the ball to go, it is still bad bowling. A juicy full toss from Cummins, and that too with width on offer outside off. Not what you want to be bowling right now

6

Cummins to Moeen Ali, SIX, clubs it into the stands to finish a massive over for England. 25 off it. It takes them beyond 300 with five overs to go. Short of length into the body, and Ali dismisses it from his presence with a magnificent pull shot

6

to Moeen Ali, SIX, he's right in the zone now, peppering that deep mid-wicket region. It may have been a slower ball from , but it sits up nicely for Ali to heave it away

6

to Moeen Ali, SIX, Ali's going ballistic. Gets a full ball and launches it over long-off. West Indies struggling to hit their lengths

6

to Moeen Ali, SIX, insane stuff from Ali. Six sixes in his last eight balls. misses the blockhole again and is dispatched over long-on

4

to Moeen Ali, FOUR, oh dear. Low full toss, powered away towards long-on, and the fielder misfields to allow it to cross the ropes. He was stationed right at the edge, and the ball didn't fall too far from him so it wasn't a straightforward stop

D

Taylor to Moeen Ali, 1 run, Gayle drops Ali .. big cheers. Full toss outside off, Ali slices it to backward point, and it's straight to Gayle. But he puts it down

6

Taylor to Woakes, SIX, oh what an effort! Incredible effort from Nurse. But he's terribly unlucky. Slower bouncer from Taylor, Woakes doesn't get hold of the pull but he's able to muscle it towards the short boundary at long-on, where Nurse runs across and grabs it one-handed over his head. But his momentum carries him over the ropes. He even tried flicking it back in, but only succeeded in tossing it over the ropes

W

Taylor to Woakes, out Caught by Rovman Powell!! A good catch in the deep. It was sliced with superb timing from Woakes; the ball travelled quickly towards sweeper cover, where Powell pedals back and cups it overhead with a little hop. Woakes c Rovman Powell b Taylor 34(34) [4s-1 6s-1]

6

Cummins to Moeen Ali, SIX, goes a mile in the skies, and drops well beyond the ropes. Ordinary bowling. Short of length, but it lacks the height to trouble Ali. Despite looking a bit early into the shot, he's able to mow it away over deep square leg. Into the 90s

6

Cummins to Moeen Ali, SIX, Moeen Ali, take a bow! A thunderous hundred from the all-rounder, the second fastest ODI ton of all time by an England player. What remarkable hitting. He's burnt everything to the ground in the last few overs. Another one in the slot for him to feast on, and he smites it over wide long-on. Off goes the helmet and on comes the smile. Wowza

D

to Moeen Ali, no run, hammered to the left of the bowler, excellent effort from but he can't hold on. It was struck ferociously

D

to Moeen Ali, 1 run, skied up off the toe-end, calls for it, and drops it. It's all going for Ali. It was actually well bowled to begin with, firing it wide of off and making Ali miscue it up. He swirls back under the ball, but it pops out of the reverse-cup

W

to Moeen Ali, out Caught by Holder!! He holes out finally. Hits it flat and hard to long-off, where the captain makes no mistake. Gets a standing ovation as he runs off. You beauty, Moeen Ali. Moeen Ali c Holder b 102(57) [4s-7 6s-8]

4

to Plunkett, FOUR, slogs the full toss into the deep mid-wicket boundary for four

W

Taylor to Willey, out Plunkett Run Out!! Excellent yorker. Willey digs it out, and they charge for the single. But Taylor shows some good footballing skills to run Plunkett out. Plunkett run out ( Taylor) 9(6) [4s-1]

4

Taylor to Adil Rashid, FOUR, Taylor hits the blockhole, but Rashid still manages to slice the ball down to the third man boundary. Brilliantly done

4

Taylor to Adil Rashid, FOUR, this time a genuine edge, and it runs away to the third man boundary again. England finish with 369
