to Mithun, SIX, short and punished! Banged short, aimed at the ribs and Mithun does well to pull it and get it over the square leg fence. Half a dozen to his account and that'll give him a bit of confidence going ahead in this innings

D

to Tamim, no run, dropped him! Tamim Iqbal, gets a life. Full length delivery around off, Tamim comes down the wicket and mistimes his drive. It's uppish and goes back to the bowler. takes to hold on with a diving effort but spills it out. Was a good effort to catch that in his follow-through, unfortunately couldn't hold on

W

to Tamim, out Caught by Dananjaya!! Big wicket! gets the dangerous opener with a short one. Bangs it short around off, Tamim goes for the pull but is a bit too late with his attempt. The ball takes the top edge, balloons up in the air towards mid-on and Dhananjaya takes it with ease. Batting was never easy on this wicket, and Tamim's rusty knocks tells us how. Tamim c Dananjaya b 3(18)

W

to Mithun, out Mithun Run Out!! A direct-hit from Thisara Perera and Mithun has to walk back dejected. Knocks the length delivery to mid-off and calls for a single. But that went quickly to mid-off where Perera gathered the ball and got rid of it even quicker. It's a powerful throw that hits the bowler's end and the batsman is well short off the crease even after dragging the bat in. Mithun run out (Perera) 10(27) [6s-1]

4

to Rahim, FOUR, easy pickings for Rahim! Full in length on middle and leg, Rahim nonchalantly flicks it through the gap at mid-wicket to get off the mark with a boundary

W

to Sabbir Rahman, out Caught by Gunaratne!! Short delivery does the trick. Shortish and around shoulder height for the batsman. Just like Tamim Iqbal, even Sabbir is late with his pull shot. Ends up miscuing it to short mid-wicket where Gunaratne takes a sharp catch in front of him. Three wickets down. Sabbir Rahman c Gunaratne b 2(9)

4

to Mahmudullah, FOUR, edged away! Short one outside off, Mahmudullah hangs his bat at it as the outside edge flies in between the keeper and wide slip

4

to Mahmudullah, FOUR, upper-cut! Short delivery outside off, gets on his toe and upper cuts it towards third man. Eludes the diving fielder and crashes in to the ad boards.

4

to Mahmudullah, FOUR, 50 up for Bangladesh with that boundary. Length delivery outside off, feels for it and gets an outside edge to roll it down to third man. Mahmudullah is scoring at run-a-ball at the moment

6

to Mahmudullah, SIX, all the way! Comes down the wicket and smokes it over the bowler's head for a towering six. Spinner put on the back foot rightaway

OT

to Mahmudullah, no run, not out! Spins away sharply and Mahmudullah's forward defence. Chandimal grabs and goes up in an appeal but the umpire is unmoved. On-field decision stays and Sri Lanka have no reviews left

4

to Mahmudullah, FOUR, that's a gift for the batsman. Bowls it on the pads, all Mahmudullah has to do is get some bat and he does that. Tickles it away and gets an easy boundary at fine leg

OT

to Rahim, no run, that's not out. Umpire has to change his on-field decision. He gave that out but the replays confirm it was pitching outside leg. That's enough to save him. Was down on his knee when he attempted the sweep only to get hit on the pads. Survives, eventually

W

to Rahim, out Caught by Tharanga!! Rahim loses concentration, throws his wicket away. He was trying to do something out of the box, that leads to his downfall. Attempted the reverse sweep on the previous delivery, couldn't get it right. Goes for the sweep now, and ends up top-edging that to short fine leg. Was a flighted delivery bowled on leg, Dhananjaya tempted him to go for the sweep and succeeded in getting his man. Rahim c Tharanga b 22(40) [4s-1]

W

to Mehidy Hasan, out Caught&Bowled!! What a soft dismissal. He has chipped it straight back to . Flighted off-break at the stumps, Mehidy is early into his push but is too late in checking the shot. Simplest of return catches. Bangladesh in big trouble here. Mehidy Hasan c and b 5(14)

4

to Mahmudullah, FOUR, cut away through backward point. There are two fielders converging at the boundary which creates confusion between them allowing the ball to sneak through for four. Shoddy work

OT

to Mahmudullah, 1 run, good length ball outside off, steers it down to third man. It's his half-century, but the situation doesn't warrant a celebration

6

to Mahmudullah, SIX, this is one way to negotiate. Ground his back knee and tonks the slog-sweep way over mid-wicket. What a blow

6

to Mahmudullah, SIX, he charges out and smokes this length ball over mid-off. Stunning from Mahmudullah. It's not over while he's out there

W

to Saifuddin, out Saifuddin Run Out!! What a horrible mix-up. Saifuddin's done the smart thing here to sacrifice himself. He nudged the ball straight to short mid-wicket, was never a run there. But he took a few steps out of the crease initially which set Mahmudullah on his way - to the point of no return. Gunaratne keeps his cool, knows that he could run to the stumps and take them out and does so. Took an ugly bump there as his shoulders clashed into the body of another fielder who was running in, but he seems all right. Saifuddin run out (Gunaratne) 8(29)

4

to Mahmudullah, FOUR, gets the boundary away, pulling this short of length delivery well in front of square. Huge cheers from the crowd. They still believe in him, and why not

W

to Mortaza, out Caught by Kusal Mendis!! He's hit this full toss straight to mid-wicket. Oh dear. The two umpires are converging but I'm sure the height is fine. Hang on, hang on. Has overstepped? This is close, but I'm sure the benefit of doubt will go to the bowler. It does. Mortaza walks off gutted. He was late on the slog, which is why there was on timing on it, nor much power. Mahmudullah running out of partners. Mortaza c Kusal Mendis b 5(12)

W

to Rubel, out Bowled!! He's bowled him neck and crop. Absolutely shatters off-stump. There is stunned silence at the stadium. Length ball which skids on rapidly, beats Rubel for sheer pace in his defence. Bangladesh effectively nine down. Rubel b 0(1)

W

to Mahmudullah, out Caught by Tharanga!! It's a hat-trick on debut for as Sri Lanka seal this tri-nation series. What a moment for the 22-year old pacer. A skiddy back of length delivery, gets it to hurry onto Mahmudullah's splice, and it spoons straight to mid-off. Mahmudullah c Tharanga b 76(92) [4s-6 6s-3]

4

Hasan to Gunathilaka, FOUR, off the mark in style! short and wide outside off, Gunathilaka rocks back and crunches it through the gap at covers

W

Hasan to Gunathilaka, out Caught by Tamim!! First wicket of the match! Flighted delivery around off, Gunathilaka comes down the wicket and looks to go big. Fails to get the desired timing and ends up scooping it up towards long-off. Tamim the man stationed in the deep, calls for it and takes it safely. An ideal start for Mehedy Hasan and Bangladesh. Gunathilaka c Tamim b Hasan 6(11) [4s-1]

4

to Kusal Mendis, FOUR, boundary to get off the mark! Just like Gunathilaka, even Mendis gets off the mark with a boundary. It's a short delivery outside off, Mendis rides the bounce and punches it through the gap at covers

6

Hasan to Kusal Mendis, SIX, clean as a whistle! Flighted delivery around off, Mendis gets down on his knee and smokes it over the mid-wicket fence. High and handsome

4

Hasan to Kusal Mendis, FOUR, pulled away! Short delivery around off, Mendis camps back and whacks it over mid-wicket for a boundary. Two in two for the right handed batsman

6

Hasan to Kusal Mendis, SIX, ferocious hitting! Walks down the wicket and sends it sailing over the bowler's head. Fligted delivery and gets the deserving treatment

6

Hasan to Kusal Mendis, SIX, he's on fire! Hasan at the receiving end. Puts on his dancing shoes and times it over long-on for another towering six. Exhibition of batting by Mendis here. Has moved on to 27* off only 7 deliveries

4

to Tharanga, FOUR, easy pickings for Tharanga! Bowled on leg, Tharanga glances it down to the fine-leg fence to get his first boundary of the match

W

to Kusal Mendis, out Mendis throws it away. He was playing so well, that was needless. Short of a length around off, Mendis goes for the pull but doesn't middle it. Gets it off the splice off his bat and mistimes it to mid-on where Mahmudullah gulps it down. That'll slow down the run rate, I guess. K Mendis c Mahmudullah b 28(9) [4s-2 6s-3]

4

Hasan to Tharanga, FOUR, right in to the gap! Flighted delivery on off, Tharanga comes down the wicket and chips it through the gap at covers

4

to Dickwella, FOUR, good pick-up shot! Full length delivery on middle and leg, Dickwella picks it up and flicks it over mid-wicket. That's the third Sri Lankan batsman who has got off the mark with a boundary in this innings so far

4

Hasan to Dickwella, FOUR, cheeky! Flighted delivery bowled well outside off, goes back and runs it down to third man. Played that shot really late, did Dickwella

OT

Hasan to Dickwella, no run, umpire's decision stays! That was clipping his leg-stump, hence Dickwella survives. Flatter delivery on middle and leg, beats the batsman's flick and raps in on the pads. Bangladesh won't lose the review as it was umpire's call

4

Hasan to Tharanga, FOUR, deft touch! Pushed through outside off, plays it late and chops it down to third man. No fielder in the deep as she races away

4

to Tharanga, FOUR, boundary to end the over! Picks the slower delivery early and runs it down to third man. Played that really well on that occasion

OT

to Tharanga, no run, Bangladesh have lost their only review! Angled into the batsman on middle and leg, Tharanga rises in his crease to flick that away, misses and gets hit on the pads. is sure it's hitting the stumps and asks his skipper to take ther review. HawkEye says, it was missing leg. On-field umpire was right, there.

OT

Hasan to Dickwella, decision reversed! Dickwella was sure that he had nicked it and the review pays off. It was darted into the batsman who got an inside-edge before it clipped the pads. Umpire didn't pick that up, hence raised the finger. However, DRS comes to Dickwella's rescue

4

to Dickwella, FOUR, welcome boundary! On a length around off, walks down the wicket and times his chip over mid-off. Last boundary came in the 12th over.

D

to Tharanga, no run, dropped! Rahim puts down Tharanga. That should have been taken. Most of the keepers might have taken it, Rahim doesn't. It was a length delivery leaving the left hander, Tharanga poked at it and got an outside edge. It flew to the left of the keeper who got his left glove to it but failed to latch on to it. How costly will that prove to be?

4

to Dickwella, FOUR, slogged! Loopy delivery around off, Dickwella goes down and slog sweeps it over mid-wicket. One bounce and into the fence. Moves on to 40* with that mighty heave

W

to Dickwella, out Caught by Sabbir Rahman!! Soft dismissal! Back of a length delivery around off, Dickwella is early into his shot as he attempts to work it away. End result - the leading edge scoops to the fielder at point where Sabbir Rahman takes a lollipop. Just what the doctor ordered for Sri Lanka. They can now bring in Shakib into the attack, reckons the commentator on air. Dickwella c Sabbir Rahman b 42(57) [4s-4]

D

to Tharanga, 1 run, dropped! Not the easiest chance though. Tharanga looks to go inside out over cover, doesn't get great elevation and it's within reach of the fielder after he leaps up with both hands. It pops out

4

to Tharanga, FOUR, short of length just outside off, Tharanga fetches it through mid-wicket for four. The timing on his pull was good enough to beat the man. It's fifty for Tharanga. Laboured knock but a crucial one to hold this innings together

6

to Chandimal, SIX, this is an astonishing shot - a reverse-sweep for six! Got into position very quickly, slowed it up and was swatted over backward point

OT

to Tharanga, no run, this has to be close if he hasn't hit it. Yes, given. Doesn't look like Tharanga's hit it as he consults with Chandimal first before taking the review. Now then.. no bat, but this cutter is missing leg-stump. It gripped a fair bit off the pitch to comfortably miss leg

W

to Tharanga, out Bowled!! No review needed for this one. He's tried to pull this off-cutter, but the ball stays low and sneaks well under him before knocking over off-stump. Cross-batted shots are so dangerous on this pitch where low-bounce has been a feature right through. Tharanga grafted hard for his half-century but has thrown it away. Tharanga b 56(99) [4s-5]

W

to Perera, out Caught by Tamim!! Short of length outside off, hurries onto Perera as he looks to get the pull away and goes straight up. Simple catch at mid-wicket. That probably wasn't the right shot to play. He had to make quite an effort to fetch it. 's skiddiness didn't make it any easier. Ends up slicing it off the toe-end. Perera c Tamim b 2(10)

W

to Gunaratne, out Lbw!! He's been given out. But Chandimal suggests taking the review. It's going down leg he feels. The ball though is clipping leg-stump according to ball-tracking. Marginal call. It tailed in from a length, hitting Gunaratne on the outside part of the leg. But the umpire was fairly convinced about it after Gunaratne played across the line of it and missed. Gunaratne lbw b 6(14)

4

to Dananjaya, FOUR, he's hammered this away over mid-off. Cleared his front leg against the off-cutter for a good clean swing

6

to Dananjaya, no ball, SIX, dear me, another very high full toss. But this one is not threatening. Dananjaya has stepped away from the line of it, making himself the room to swing it away over mid-wicket

W

to Chandimal, out Bowled!! Ripping yorker from , it swings in late to rip out Chandimal's stumps. That was about as perfect a delivery as it gets at this stage. Chandimal bent his knees, went for the slog, but stood little to no chance. Chandimal b 45(74) [6s-1]

4

to Madushanka, FOUR, looks to slog over mid-wicket but sends it in a diagonally opposite direction off a thick leading edge. Beats third man

W

to Dananjaya, out Caught by Mithun at backward point!! Sliced up straight to cover. Quite a tame shot. He was done in by the slower ball, so couldn't muster enough power behind his inside-out drive. Through the shot too early, ended up just chipping it in the air. Dananjaya c Mithun b 17(16) [4s-1 6s-1]

W

to Madushanka, out Bowled!! Timbah! Another one of those fantastic yorker length deliveries from . There is reverse-swing too. The ball tails in late at pace, rips through Madushanka and rattles the stumps. Madushanka b 7(6) [4s-1]

W

to Chameera, out Lakmal Run Out!! Chameera swings and misses, they look to steal a bye but Rahim connects with his under-arm throw to bowl Sri Lanka out. Lakmal run out (Rahim) 2(4)
