OT

to Tharanga, no run, good use of technology by Tharanga. It always seemed to be pitching outside leg in real time as well. It was a shooter from and stayed really low as Tharanga went for the pull. Brushed the pad en route to Rahim and Bangladesh were up in appeal for LBW. A belated decision from the umpire but Tharanga challenged it successfully in the end

W

Hossain to Kusal Perera, out Bowled!! Knocked him over! The ploy to begin with off spin has worked wonders for Bangladesh. It is the danger man Kusal Perera who has to depart. It was floated up by and he gave the charge to whip it away. In the end, it was too full and sneaked below his blade before crashing onto the stumps. Not a really wise stroke you could say but that's how he plays generally. Sri Lanka have been dented early. Kusal Perera b Hossain 1(3)

4

Hossain to Tharanga, FOUR, deft touch from Tharanga, expects the shorter length and waits for it on the back foot. Late cuts it with ease pst short third man

4

to Tharanga, FOUR, blistering shot! A tad too full from and Tharanga has stroked the front foot drive very straight. Beats the bowler and it speeds away to the fence

4

to Kusal Mendis, leg byes, FOUR, erratic from , sprays it down leg and although Mendis fails to connect the flick, it goes off the pads. Rahim tries with a dive but cannot get to it

4

to Tharanga, FOUR, poor ball and gets the treatment. Full and down leg, Tharanga wanted to whip it away through square leg or thereabouts. Instead gets it off the inner half down to the fine leg fence

W

to Tharanga, out Caught by Mahmudullah!! strikes! The round-the-wicket ploy works instantly for Bangladesh. Good length ball that was coming in with the angle, Tharanga gave the charge to loft it down the ground but couldn't clear the infield. Mahmudullah at mid-off moved across to take a sharp catch. Was probably a bit late on the ball but held on in the end. The scoreboard pressure got to Tharanga who was trying to crease some momentum. Tharanga c Mahmudullah b 25(35) [4s-3]

4

to Kusal Mendis, FOUR, authoritative shot to bring up the team 50. It's a short delivery around off, Mendis waits for it, camps back and pummels his pull over mid-wicket. Fielder in the deep is a mere spectator as this races away

W

to Kusal Mendis, out Caught by Rubel!! Change in pace does the trick. Deceives the batsman with a slower one and Mendis falls for it. Looks to go inside out and mistimes his loft towards mid-off. Goes high up in the sky and Rubel settles underneath to gulp it down. Looking at the way Mendis was struggling to get his timing, this was always coming. Skipper gets his second scalp as Bangladesh inch a step closer to victory. It's going to be difficult to score runs looking at the way this pitch has started to behave. Kusal Mendis c Rubel b 19(34) [4s-1]

6

to Chandimal, SIX, that's a clean hit! Comes down the wicket and smokes the tossed up delivery. Times it to perfection over the long-on fence for half a dozen

W

to Dickwella, out Clean bowled!! The off-stump goes for a walk. Length delivery around off, keeps low, comes in sharply and beats Dickwella who attempts a front foot pull. Batting on this pitch is getting more difficult and Lanka are struggling big time. The required run rate is creeping up and the match is slipping away from their grasp. Good variation by the Fizz though! Dickwella b 16(22)

4

to Gunaratne, FOUR, cheeky shot. Opens the face off his bat and guides the length delivery past the fielder at wide slip. First boundary of this innings for Gunaratne. Needs to hit a few more of these

W

to Chandimal, out Chandimal Run Out!! Another one bites the dust. Half of Sri Lanka are back in the hut now. Things only getting worse as Chandimal puts in a dive in order to get inside the crease at the bowler's end. Replays confirm that the batsman is well short off it, hence has to walk back, unfortunately. It was punched to mid-off and Shakib was the man with the direct hit. Can't keep him out of the game, can you? Chandimal run out (Shakib) 28(39) [6s-1]

4

to Gunaratne, FOUR, what kind of a shot was that? Very agricultural. It's a length delivery around off, Gunaratne looks to ramp it and gets a top edge that flies over the leaping keeper

4

to Perera, FOUR, easy pickings! Shortish delivery on the hips and Perera tickles it away. Finds the fine leg fence with ease

W

to Gunaratne, out Caught by Saifuddin!! If the short ball was a gift, the batsman tied a wrapper around it and sent it to the man at backward point. That was a nothing shot. Terribly loose and the hosts and their fans raise the decibel levels. Lanka are self-detonating here. Gunaratne c Saifuddin b 16(19) [4s-2]

W

to Wanidu Hasaranga, out Caught by Rahim!! My O My! Tragedy has a face. It looks like the scorecard of Lanka's batting line up. They are in shambles. Looks for a dragged slog sweep and top-edges it for the keeper to run to his left and take it. is on a hat-trick. Wanidu Hasaranga c Rahim b 0(1)

4

Hossain to Dananjaya, FOUR, sits down and dispatches the ball away wide of long-on for a four. That was tossed up outside off and the batsman fetched the ball from there and sent it away to the fence

4

Hossain to Dananjaya, FOUR, another sweep, another four. This time less aerial but same result as the man at deep square had no chance as the flighted ball outside off was meted out with a firm hit

4

to Perera, FOUR, murderous hack down the ground and the ball races past the non-striker for a four. It was uppish but unstoppable as well

6

to Perera, SIX, shortish ball, the batsman stays his ground and swats the ball over cow corner for a sixer. He wants to go for it

4

to Perera, FOUR, slammed, four! That was hit hard and on the off-side for the man at long-off to make a mess of it by diving over it. 14 off the last three balls. His purple patch continues

6

to Perera, SIX, short ball, that has disappeared! Stays on the back foot and pummels it over deep mid for a flat six. He is firing on all cylinders now

W

to Perera, out Caught by Mahmudullah!! Sigh. That is something Perera's fans are used to now. Went for another big hit and manages to slice it for the man at long-off to take it. The bait was set with a loopy ball outside off and the batsman wanted to go down town again. But this time, it was ill-timed and went too high for the fielder in the deep to position himself and take it. Perera c Mahmudullah b 29(14) [4s-3 6s-2]

W

to Lakmal, out Bowled!! Is there any better music for a bowler? The sound of ball rattling the timber is music to as well. The yorker delievered and the batsman could not get his bat down in time to be out clean bowled and the leg stump is decimated. The fat lady has started to sing as the end is nigh. Lakmal b 1(6)

4

to Dananjaya, FOUR, charges out, heaves the ball down the ground and the ball lands just short of the ropes for it to be a four at long-off

W

to Dananjaya, out Caught by Shakib!! It is all over. A win by 163 runs. This is Bangladesh's biggest win ever(by runs)! This was a proper shellacking. Here is how the formalities unfolded: the low full toss was slogged away without any timing, the bat face turned in his hands and the man at mid-off picked up the catch with a lot of ease. The crowd erupted and that completes a wonderful day at home for Bangladesh. Another win at home. Dananjaya c Shakib b 14(17) [4s-3]

D

to Anamul, 1 run, dropped! That's a dolly and second slip has shelled it despite having two bites at it. Lovely outswinger and Anamul is loose on the drive. Gets a thickish edge that luckily for him, does not go to hand

4

to Tamim, FOUR, beautiful shot by the opener. It's full and Tamim makes the most out of this half-volley and drills it past the fielder at mid-off

4

to Anamul, FOUR, slightly pitched up and has been nicely driven down the ground. The dive from the man at mid-on is unsuccessful and a boundary it is

4

to Anamul, FOUR, edged but just beats the wide first slip! Was dying on him and would have been a tough chance even if he had got a hand on it. Anamul is the lucky man again. Tries poke at this away curler that moves from a length, the edge just beats the fielder to the third man fence. Survived a dropped catch earlier and now this. Anamul must make this count

4

to Tamim, FOUR, elegant! Overcooked from and there is a hint of width as well, Tamim gets a nice stride forward to cream the drive wide of mid-off. Top stroke!

6

to Anamul, SIX, super shot! A confident stroke from Haque, gets down on one knee to this floated ball and slog sweeps it over square leg. Over the infield and it races away

4

to Anamul, byes, FOUR, oh Dickwella has messed up! It did keep a fraction low to be honest but not that bad by international standards and should have been stopped. It's a stumping chance gone as well! An off break that shoots through low, Haque overbalanced while trying to block and ended up going out of his crease for a moment or two. But the luck that he is having continues and he escapes. It gets through everyone to the fence

4

to Tamim, FOUR, good batting! The attempted full ball and Tamim picks the length early. Dances down the track to whip it away past mid-on who is in the ring. Races away

4

to Anamul, FOUR, lovely batting! The googly and Anamul picks it early, clears his front leg to clobber this fuller ball. Placed it well wide of the man at long-on

D

to Anamul, 1 run, Anamul better take a lottery today! He'll definitely win! Charges down the track for the lofted stroke but doesn't time this at all. The man at mid-offtrekked back to cover a lot of yards, even putting in a dive but it fell short

W

to Anamul, out Caught by Dickwella!! Anamul runs out of luck. Despite scoring at a good clip, he was creating far too many chances and it was only a matter of time before this happened. The short ball from Thisara and he is caught in a tangle. Gets a faint glove that is taken brilliantly by Dickwella down the leg-side. Once again, it's that man who provides the breakthrough. He was outstanding last game and has started well this match as well. Anamul c Dickwella b 35(37) [4s-3 6s-1]

4

to Shakib, FOUR, a one-handed smash past mid-on. Looked awry but he's managed to pull it off. Fuller ball and Shakib wanted to smash it through cover. Didn't find the length full enough and had to adjust with a forehand stroke. One hand came off the in process but still generated enough power

4

to Tamim, FOUR, that's Tamim's answer to that previous short delivery. Picks the length early and pulls it hard through mid-wicket. The fielder at the fence puts in a dive to stop but fails in his quest

4

to Tamim, FOUR, 100 up for Bangladesh! It's a length delivery outside off, Tamim plays it late and runs it down to third man. Beats the man at short third man and races away into the fence

4

to Shakib, FOUR, banged short around off, Shakib swivels and offers a short-arm jab. Times it to perfection and beats the fielder at deep fine leg. That was a quality shot by the all-rounder! Striking at a rate of well over 120 at the moment

OT

to Tamim, 1 run, 40th fifty in ODI cricket! The reason why he is known as Bangladesh's best batsman. Look at the amount of fifties he has scored in the 50-over format for the Tigers. Eases the full length delivery to long-on and celebrates in style. Anyways, needs to carry on and convert his start into that magical three-figure milestone now. If he manages to do so, Lanka might find themselves in a spot of bother yet again!

6

to Tamim, SIX, up and over! The bowlers, fielders are mere spectators. Comes down the wicket and smokes it over the bowler's head for half a dozen. He was waiting to shift gears, wasn't he?

6

to Tamim, SIX, another biggie! He's taking on , mind you! Puts on his dancing shoes and towers it over long-on this time around. Back-to-back sixes by Tamim and the crowd at Dhaka has gone berserk. Boom Boom Tamim on fire, fellas!

4

to Tamim, FOUR, this is entertainment! Leans ahead and creams his drive through the gap at covers. Sweeper cover is way to square in order to cut it down

4

to Tamim, FOUR, this is full and wide outside off, Tamim reaches for it and carves it over point. The ball has enough on it to take it away to the fence

4

to Shakib, FOUR, that's a tight slap on the bowler's face. He's feeding them with short ones and both batsmen are giving it back. Picks the length early and pulls it through mid-wicket. No need to run for those!

4

to Shakib, FOUR, another slap! Similar to the previous delivery and Shakib plays a similar short. This time it's a bit squarer but result is the same

W

to Tamim, out Caught by Dickwella!! That's a fine review by Sri Lanka. Dickwella went up for the review straightaway and he's bang on with his decision. There's a clear nick according to Snicko as Tamim leans forward in defense. The off-spinning delivery kisses the blade and the keeper takes it before dislodging the bails. Nevertheless, a fine partnership for the second wicket comes to an end. Just what Sri Lanka were looking for. Another wicket here, would do wonders for the visitors. Tamim c Dickwella b 84(102) [4s-7 6s-2]

4

Hasaranga to Rahim, FOUR, tries the steer again and this time succeeds. The man at point dived over the ball and allowed the ball to go away. The googly it was and the batsman forayed back in his crease to stab the ball away

4

Hasaranga to Shakib, FOUR, drops the ball short, cardinal sin! Shakib rocks back and pulls the ball away with all his sinews working in tandem. The man at deep backward square leg had no chance. Time for drinks as well

OT

to Shakib, 1 run, off-drive and the batsman has to dive into his crease. Fifty up for Shakib! That was driven on the up and the man at mid-off had a good shy at the sticks but missed. Was a half-chance that has gone down

4

Hasaranga to Shakib, FOUR, that was the London bridge again done by the man at mid-off. Dives over the ball to his right and the off-drive earns Shakib a four. The ball was tossed up outside off and the batsman got to the pitch of the ball to silk the ball away

6

to Rahim, SIX, he comes down on it like a house of fire and blazes the ball away over the long-off region for a maximum. That was a length ball and the batsman created room and surfed down to muscle the ball away. He might not have timed it but got enough bat on it

4

to Shakib, FOUR, as hot as the sizzling brownie! That was short and the batsman pivots on the back foot to slay the pull away past the dive from the man at deep square leg. He is timing it like a dream today

W

to Shakib, out Caught&Bowled!! Hit back and gone! The batsman backed away acres away from his sticks, brought the big bat down and slammed it back to the bowler who took it close to his face. That was hit hard but the slow followthrough of the bowler helped him to station himself and take the catch out of thin air. Shakib is gutted. A wicket against the run of play for Lanka. Shakib c and b 67(63) [4s-7]

4

to Mahmudullah, FOUR, short, wide, gift given and accepted with a cut past point. That ain't a bad way to get off the mark. Stood his ground to speed it past the fielder

4

to Rahim, FOUR, a good ball followed by a loose one. Sums up Lanka's day. Their last two years I would say. Terrible delivery and has been slashed over the man at point for a four. The man from deep cover put in a valiant dive but in vain as the ball teased away to touch the ropes

4

to Mahmudullah, FOUR, cracking shot, length delivery outside off, Mahmudullah backs away, stands tall and cracks it through cover, no one moved as the ball rolled away to the fence

4

to Rahim, FOUR, cheeky and four, excellent cricket from Rahim, shuffled across his stumps, waited on this slower ball and then lapped it over Dickwella's head, few bounces and over the ropes

OT

to Rahim, 2 runs, the bouncer from , Rahim swivels across, rolls his wrists and pulls it behind square on the on-side, comes back for the second and brings up his 28th ODI fifty

6

Hasaranga to Mahmudullah, SIX, lovely, Mahmudullah shimmies down the track, gets close to the ball and lifts it high and over long-on for a maximum

W

to Mahmudullah, out Caught by Perera at square of the wicket!! The slower ball and Mahmudullah has only managed to hole out to long-on. He gave away his plans way too early, came charging down the track, that allowed Mahmudullah the luxury of changing the pace, this was a back of the hand slower ball, never really came onto the batsman. Mahmudullah was way too early on the lofted drive, got a lot of height but not the distance. Perera ran in from the deep, settled under it and held on. Mahmudullah c Perera b 24(23) [4s-2 6s-1]

4

to Rahim, FOUR, nicely played by Rahim, on a good length and well outside off, Rahim didn't get hold of the drive, gets enough to beat the fielder in the ring at extra-cover. Akila Dananjaya gets across from the deep, puts in a sprawling dive, pulls the ball back in, but the ball rolls away to the fence

W

to Rahim, out Bowled!! That's a big wicket for Sri Lanka, Rahim was going great guns, yanks his head back and walks off in disgust after being cleaned up. This was almost the perfect yorker, full and angling back into the right-hander, Rahim backed away and was looking to shovel it over mid-wicket. The ball snuck underneath and the leg-stump is sent for a walk. Rahim b 62(52) [4s-4 6s-1]

4

to Sabbir Rahman, FOUR, smashed, another slower ball from , Rahman backs away and smashes it back over the bowler's head, one bounce and over the ropes

4

to Mortaza, FOUR, full and wide of off, Mortaza backs away and clatters it over point. The fielder in the deep gets across, puts in the slide and hauls the ball back in, but as he did so, he was in contact with the ropes

W

to Mortaza, out Caught by Dananjaya!! That's a smart catch from Danajaya. He ran across to his left from long leg, kept his eyes on the ball and completed a good two-handed head high catch. For a moment, Mortaza would have felt he found the gap, backed away to a slower ball and swung it behind square on the on-side. Mortaza c Dananjaya b 6(5) [4s-1]

W

to Nasir Hossain, out Lbw!! Appeal for LBW and Sri Lanka want a review. They think it hit the pad first and they are right, but is it sliding down the leg-side? It's pad first, says Bruce Oxenford, Hawk-Eye in: Three reds and Nasir is OUT. That's an excellent review from the visitors, they have been spot-on in that department. This was a yorker length delivery by , Nasir was backing away as he brought his bat down, it hit him flush on the boot before ricoheting onto the bat. The impact was in front of middle stump and was crashing into the stumps. Nasir Hossain lbw b 0(1)

4

to Saifuddin, FOUR, handy boundary from Saifuddin, low full-toss from as he missed his yorker, Saifuddin backs away and drives it past the non-striker, beats mid-off to his left and rolls away to the fence

4

to Sabbir Rahman, FOUR, on a good length and just outside off, Sabbir Rahman backs away and just about manages to clear extra-cover. Chandimal has a long chase from mid-off, just about gets to the ball and pulls it back in, but as he did so, his boot was in contact with the ropes, a boundary has been signalled

6

to Sabbir Rahman, SIX, lovely shot, missed his yorker by a bit, offers a length delivery on the stumps, Rahman makes room, clears his left leg and heaves it high and wide of long-on for a maximum

4

to Sabbir Rahman, FOUR, Sabbir and Bangladesh finish on a strong note, length delivery on the stumps, Sabbir makes room and pummels it back over the bowler's head, one bounce and over the ropes. 19 from the over and Bangladesh finish with 320 on the board
