So, an old-fashioned low scoring humdinger to end the tour for South Africans. It started on a calamitous note for them, they improved drastically with white ball but were exposed against quality spin in the last two matches again. For Sri Lanka, last three matches were exactly what the doctor ordered for them. They will be oozing with confidence when they take on Asian giants in Asia Cup. That's it from us, this is Varun Dixit signing off on behalf of Akshay Maanay, Hariprasad and Vinod.

Angelo Mathews, winning captain: Of course, I had butterflies in my stomach in the end. We made the chase difficult. It is only us to blame, we kept losing wickets and made it tough. There is a lot of improvement in all the three departments. We can carry the momentum to Asia Cup, we are very high on confidence. I want to thank the fans, we let them down in the ODI series but still they came in numbers, supported us and I am glad that we gave them something back.

JP Duminy, losing captain: Another 30-40 runs would have made a huge difference. We tried a few things, unfortunately our execution wasn't there. There were a lot of soft dismissals in the last match, so we thought about playing attacking cricket but we could not execute our plans. We have learnt lots of lessons on this tour. We will take a lot of confidence on winning the ODI series. Spinners did the trick for them. For us, seamers did the damage. It was a good cricket wicket but 99 was never going to be enough. I enjoyed leading today, I wanted to lead from the front but couldn't do it with the bat. We fought well with the ball but it wasn't our day. We changed our mindset and in the first three (ODIs) matches of the series we played really good positive cricket and that is one thing we will take forward. End of September we have a series against ZIM and hopefully we will continue with the same brand of cricket.

Dhananjaya de Silva, Man of the Match: I was playing according to the situation. My team wanted me to hang in and I did that. It was a good pitch, a total of 130 would have been a good score. Fast bowlers were the easiest to bat on this wicket.

22:07 Local Time, 16:37 GMT, 22:07 IST: It was a narrow escape in the end for Sri Lanka. Their supporters must have had their hearts in the mouth in the second half of the run-chase. But Chandimal, in his comeback match brought his experience to the fore and guided his team to a memorable victory. The target was an ordinary one and Sri Lanka definitely made a mountain out of a molehill. Rabada was fiery in his 4-over spell and got two wickets in his first over but South Africa still needed more. Dhananjaya de Silva joined Chandimal and both portrayed good counter-attacking cricket. They were coasting at one point of time but Shamsi with Dala came into the attack and the duo were exceptional. With combined figures of 4-48, made it really interesting but South Africa seriously missed another quality spinner and once their spell was over, Chandimal and Udana took the hosts home. Time for the presentations..

Lungi Ngidi to Udana, FOUR. That's it Sri Lanka win by 3 wickets! Pitches this one up and Udana was ready for it. He plunges forward and drives it straight down the ground, terrific timing and it beats the mid-off fielder and will reach the fence. Chandimal has a bright smile on his face at the non striker's end
Lungi Ngidi to Chandimal, 1 run, drives it to sweeper cover to take another run. Four required now! Sri Lanka are almost there
Lungi Ngidi to Chandimal, 2 runs, another two! This will bring back smiles on the faces of the Sri Lankan fans. It was a full toss on the pads and Chandimal tucks it to deep mid-wicket for a couple
Lungi Ngidi to Chandimal, 2 runs, great effort from Klaasen! He comes from deep cover to his left and dives full stretch to save it from reaching the fence. They are putting their bodies on the line. It was cut square of the wicket and the duo take a brace
Lungi Ngidi to Chandimal, no run, on a good length and at the stumps, Chandimal was in the crease and defends it to short mid-wicket
Lungi Ngidi to Chandimal, no run, on a good length and at off, opens the face of the bat to guide it to point

Lungi Ngidi [2.0-0-16-0] is back into the attack

Duminy to Udana, no run, now the straight one. Good variations from Duminy! Udana plays for the turn and it fizzes past his outside edge
Duminy to Udana, no run, this one gripped the surface and it turned, Udana was deceived by it and inside edged it to short mid-wicket
Duminy to Udana, no run, at the pads and Udana pushes it to short mid-wicket
Duminy to Chandimal, 1 run, target down to single digit now. It was on a fuller length and line was outside off, Chandimal moves across and nudges it to the leg-side for a single
Duminy to Udana, 1 run, full toss at the pads, Udana pushes it to long-on to bring Chandimal back on strike

Isuru Udana, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Duminy to Dananjaya, out Bowled!! Skipper gets the wicket on his very first ball. This one doesn't turn at all. Dananjaya made the mistake of playing for the turn, he attempts a drive, it breaches his defence and smashes the stumps. This is turning into a tasty encounter now! Dananjaya b Duminy 2(7)

Duminy to Dananjaya, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

Jean-Paul Duminy, right-arm off break, comes into the attack

Two slips and backward short leg.

South Africa will be forced to use their fifth bowler now.

Junior Dala to Chandimal, no run, on a good length and at the stumps, taps it poiltely to cover and looks for a single, decides against it and rightly so
Junior Dala to Dananjaya, 1 run, on a fuller length and aimed at the stumps, semi-stride forward and a drive wide of mid-off
Junior Dala to Chandimal, 1 run, back of a length delivery at the body, tucks it to fine leg
Junior Dala to Dananjaya, 1 run, fuller length delivery at the stumps, clips it to fine leg for a single

Slip, gully and backward short leg for Dananjaya.

Junior Dala to Chandimal, 1 run, he was touch late on the shot and it was in the air for wee bit, it falls wide of cover and they take a single
Junior Dala to Chandimal, wide, this is becoming predictable now. It was banged in short again and it was too high, wide
Junior Dala to Chandimal, no run, short of length delivery aiming at the body, hops and defends to cover

Wicket maiden from Shamsi! An absolute rarity in this format. He ends a good spell with figures of 4-1-26-2

Shamsi to Dananjaya, no run, well tossed up delivery, it spun away and went past the outside edge of Dananjaya
Shamsi to Dananjaya, no run, fuller length delivery at the stumps, defends to the off-side

Slip, short cover and backward short leg in.

Shamsi to Dananjaya, no run, it was at the stumps, Dananjaya was deep in his crease and he blocks it to cover
Shamsi to Dananjaya, no run, pushes it to the off-side

Akila Dananjaya, left handed bat, comes to the crease

Shamsi to Perera, out Bowled!! Peach from Shamsi! He bowls a dream delivery, would have loved that. Perera should have gone after him, he doesn't really have a defensive game. He was playing according to the situation but will have to depart. It was another wrong 'un, turned in after pitching. Perera doesn't read it off the hands, he fails to read it off the pitch too. It breaches his defence and goes in between bat and pad to disturb the furniture. South Africa still in it. Perera b Shamsi 0(2)

Shamsi to Perera, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

Shamsi to Perera, no run, wrong 'un to start his spell, hits the pads and goes to the off-side

Backward short leg and a slip in.

Junior Dala to Chandimal, no run, short of length delivery at the body, Chandimal gets behind it and taps it to cover, Perera was looking for a single but Chandimal raises his hand to say 'NO'
Junior Dala to Chandimal, wide, another bouncer attempted. It was too short and it sails over the head of Chandimal. Wide called!

Thisara Perera, left handed bat, comes to the crease

Junior Dala to Shanaka, out Caught by Hendricks!! South Africa are picking up wickets at the regular intervals and courtesy that they are still in the match. It was banged in short, Shanaka went for a half-hearted pull shot, he closes the face of the bat early, gets a top edge and Hendricks at deep square leg takes a fine catch. Shanaka c Hendricks b Junior Dala 16(16) [4s-3]

Junior Dala to Shanaka, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

Junior Dala to Shanaka, no run, mighty heave across the line from Shanaka, gets an inside edge and it hits the pad of front leg, could have easily dragged it back onto the stumps
