D

to Azhar Ali, no run, Santner drops a dolly! For a fielder of his caliber, this is embarrassing. Full and angling across Azhar, he goes for the expansive drive but cannot keep it down. In and out of Santner's hands. Simplest of chances and this has been a pattern of late for him

W

to Azhar Ali, out Caught by Ross Taylor!! That's a cracker from ! Virtually unplayable stuff and nicely taken by Taylor at first slip. Almost seemed like he may put it down but Rosco held his nerve. A brute of a ball this, kicked up off the deck from a good length and seamed away sharply to leave Azhar Ali clueless. Squared up him completely. Santner will be relieved, that dropped catch hasn't cost NZ anything. This is a big blow to Pakistan though, Azhar is one of the men to have in such tricky run chases and he has been nipped out early. Azhar Ali c Ross Taylor b 0(10)

W

to Fakhar Zaman, out Bowled!! Chopped on! He nearly did this off the very first ball he faced but survived somehow. No leeway this time though. has another, this is a reward for some real tight bowling. Attacks the off stump with a good length ball that comes in with the angle, no room for Fakhar to play the cut but he goes through with the stroke. Gets all cramped up and only manages an inside edge that rattles the timber. Pakistan have been jolted early. Fakhar Zaman b 2(7)

W

to Hafeez, out Caught by Ross Taylor!! is on fire! There is his third scalp. What a spell! What a summer he is having! This is the away curler that shapes away from around the middle and off channel, Hafeez had to play at it and he ends up just poking inside the line. The edge flies to first slip where Taylor takes another sharp catch. Duck for the experienced Hafeez and this is turning out to be a disastrous start for Pakistan. is all over them at the moment. Hafeez c Ross Taylor b 0(4)

4

to Babar Azam, FOUR, first boundary of the innings. Some respite for Pakistan and it's Babar who provides it. A rare loose ball from as he drifts onto the pads, it's neatly worked behind square on the leg-side. Fine leg had no chance

W

to Babar Azam, out Babar Azam Run Out!! What a way to get out! This is the last thing Pakistan needed after such a shaky start. Babar has gifted his wicket away here. Short and wide, he flayed it behind point and went for the risky second run. Santner was quick to attack the ball and fired in a flat throw at the keeper's end. Latham did the rest and he knew immediately. The replays confirm the inevitable and Babar walks back. Horrible cricket! Babar Azam run out (Santner/Latham) 8(28) [4s-1]

W

Ferguson to Shoaib Malik, out Caught by Ross Taylor!! Taken on the rebound! For a moment, Taylor had lost sight of the ball but the initial impact of his palm meant that the ball had gone up in the air enough for him to gather his wits. Calmly takes it in the end. Coming to the wicket, another poor shot from a Pakistani batsman. Back of a length outside off, extra bounce as Malik flashes hard at it. Only manages a thick edge that flies behind the wicket. For a moment, he might have thought he had got away but it was not to be. Half the side down now. This is getting shocking and embarrassing now. Shoaib Malik c Ross Taylor b Ferguson 3(27)

W

to Shadab Khan, out Bowled!! Shadab Khan, what on earth was that? A poor shot to play even in the middle overs, let alone when the side is 16/5. Slower and fuller on off stump, he just goes for a wild slog across the line. More a stroke out of frustration, resigning to the fate. Half-hearted as well and he makes no contact. Timber! Six down now and the history books may be rewritten if this procession continues. Shadab Khan b 0(6)

6

Ferguson to Faheem Ashraf, SIX, that's into the roof! Something to cheer about for Pakistan fans then. Short ball and it was climbing onto Faheem who swiveled to pull it away. More off the top half of the blade but he went hard at it. Sailed over fine leg and into the roof. Massive!

W

Ferguson to Faheem Ashraf, out Caught by Todd Astle!! Oh boy, that danger of getting the lowest ODI score ever is still on. Still six runs to go. Looks a lot right now. Short ball outside off, Ashraf had top-edged one into the stands earlier. This, however, goes straight up and it's a simple catch for fine leg. It was too daunting a shot to pursue, with the ball rising and the line outside off. Faheem Ashraf c Todd Astle b Ferguson 10(13) [6s-1]

W

to Hasan Ali, out Caught by Williamson!! This is just stunning. My word, what a catch from the New Zealand skipper. Big smile on his face as he gets up after a blinding grab. Hasan Ali can barely believe it. He mistimed his pull shot but would have hoped to get it wide of short mid-wicket. Not to be. Williamson leaps across with one hand, couldn't have stretched it any further, and the ball sticks right at the tip of his fingers. Hasan Ali c Williamson b 1(3)

4

Ferguson to Amir, FOUR, Pakistan cannot be bowled out for the lowest ever ODI score now. Amir's inside edge has saved them the blushes. Back of length, Amir hangs his bat in defence and the ball zips past the leg-stump into the fine leg boundary

4

Ferguson to Amir, FOUR, good length ball angling away from off, Amir flashes a drive through the covers for four. Pretty good hit on the up

4

to Amir, FOUR, he's cleared his front leg to hammer the full ball over 's head. Pakistan cross 50. Well done

W

to Amir, out Bowled!! has his revenge immediately. Zips it on a back of length, squares Amir up in defence and bowls him. Amir was actually standing outside leg-stump as he tried to defend this and somehow managed to send the outside edge crashing into middle stump. Amir b 14(24) [4s-3]

4

to Raees, FOUR, short and wide, Raees has a slash at it and sends it off the toe-edge wide of the keeper

4

to Raees, FOUR, he's got a big piece of that. Short ball, Raees swings and swings hard and he blasts this pull away through mid-wicket

4

to Raees, FOUR, clears the front leg and whacks it over mid-on. Pakistan have now passed the lowest ODI score in NZ as well

W

to Raees, out Bowled!! Got him, that's it! A superb yorker bowled with pace and laced with swing. Too good. It curves away late and shatters middle and leg stump. finishes with five. New Zealand seal the series. Raees b 16(14) [4s-3]

6

to Guptill, SIX, whoa, what a hit! Oh boy! A touch full and going down leg, Guptill just shuffles a touch and drop kicks it over deep mid-wicket. Lovely little whip, strong bottom-hand and it goes flat into the crowd. Cracker!

6

Ashraf to Munro, SIX, that's a top edge but it's gone all the way. Short and wide outside off, Munro throws his bat at it and gets a thick slice. Third man is squarer but this might have cleared him anyway. The bowler's pace enables the mishit to go fine over the fence

W

Ashraf to Munro, out Caught by Sarfraz!! Terrible shot and Munro is a goner! More of a T20 stroke and it's too early to play these in a 50-over game. Premeditates by walking across the stumps but Ashraf cleverly spears it wider with the angle across him, Munro doesn't back down and goes through with the slog sweep but is no control really. The mishit flies high up in the air and Sarfraz had all the time in the world to get across to take the skier in front of first slip. Just the start Pakistan would have wanted, Munro has had a great summer thus far and it's a huge blow to the Kiwis early on. Munro c Sarfraz b Ashraf 8(4) [6s-1]

4

Ashraf to Guptill, FOUR, that's been clubbed! Gee, he is in really good touch, isn't he? Seemed so the other day and has started well today as well. Just a fraction too short from Ashraf and Guptill is on the front foot as he absolutely clobbers the pull. Easily over the in-field at mid-wicket

4

Ashraf to Guptill, FOUR, that's crashed away! Too wide from Ashraf and he pays the price. Allows Guptill to free his arms and it's been slapped away through point. Once he picked the gap, the result was inevitable

4

to Williamson, FOUR, fab shot! Just the release stroke that he was looking for. Williamson walks down the track and effortlessly chips this good length ball over the bowler's head. Straight as an arrow and mid-on had no chance

4

Ali to Guptill, FOUR, super shot! Much-needed for New Zealand to break the shackles. Ali goes short but it sits up nicely for Guptill who connects the pull on the front foot. Through backward square leg and the men in the deep are at fine leg and deep mid-wicket

4

Khan to Guptill, FOUR, thick edge but there isn't a slip in place! The leg break is a touch short but the spin forces the edge as Guptill goes for the cut. Well wide of Sarfraz and it goes away fine to the third man fence

4

Ashraf to Williamson, FOUR, muscled away! Superb batting! Saw mid-off up and gave the charge, didn't matter to him that the length was shortened and Williamson flat-batted it with full power. Easily over the infield and the fact that he hit it very straight helped his cause

W

Khan to Williamson, out Guptill Run Out!! Waste of a wicket! Pakistan have the breakthrough they were looking for. With the kind of pressure created, something like this was on the cards and it's happened. Guptill is the man to go. This was drifted in from around off, Williamson dabbed it towards the off-side and they went for the single before deciding about the second. Big mix up and Guptill was sent back very, very late. Sarfraz was alert and although the throw came to him initially, he gathered quickly and threw it back at who did the rest. Guptill was never in the frame. Williamson immediately swung his bat to the ground, more out of guilt I reckon. Guptill run out (Sarfraz/ Khan) 45(62) [4s-4 6s-1]

4

Khan to Ross Taylor, FOUR, thumped! Gloriously done by Taylor, got the full ball that he was looking for and also got the chance to free his arms. Absolutely creamed the drive through the covers. No chance for sweeper cover

4

Khan to Ross Taylor, FOUR, smart batting from Taylor! He has started well here. A fraction too short from and it has been put away. Taylor rocks back to use the depth of the crease and cuts it ever so late. Beats backward point with ease

4

Malik to Williamson, FOUR, Malik spoils all the hard work with a freebie, a half-tracker around middle and off, Williamson was backing away to make room and crashed it through the covers. Nobody in the deep on the off-side and that's a welcome boundary for the Kiwis

4

Ali to Williamson, FOUR, goodness, this is brilliant. Back of length just outside off, nothing wrong with it, but Williamson stands tall and drives off the back foot through extra-cover. He's fought hard and may just have fought his way to get his timing back

OT

Malik to Williamson, no run, given out lbw, but Williamson has reviewed this. Don't think he's got an inside edge, even though he went up fairly spontaneously. The only thing which could save him is if the ball has pitched outside leg, which is a definite possibility. Oh my, it's pitched just outside leg. Matter of an inch or two. Williamson will survive. Malik got this ball to turn from round the wicket and trapped Williamson on the crease, but the NZ captain was fairly confident

4

to Williamson, FOUR, he has crunched this through the covers and even a desperate effort in the deep isn't good enough to keep it out. Tremendous from Williamson, showing the value of not throwing away your wicket when the going is tough, and reaping the rewards later. Fifty for him

4

to Williamson, FOUR, charges out, makes room, and lofts this length ball over mid-off to immediately put under pressure. One bounce and over the ropes

4

to Williamson, FOUR, goes for the slower bouncer to protect the free-hit, but Williamson climbs right on top of this. He's nailed the pull shot through mid-wicket. Amazing shot. Not easy to hit these

W

to Williamson, out Caught by Hafeez!! He's gone this time, failing to clear mid-off. The ball popped out initially, but it looped up off Hafeez's palms and gave him enough time to grab the rebound. Timely wicket for Pakistan just when this partnership was turning it on. with a slower ball which Williamson wanted to loft over mid-off after advancing. But his bat twists in the hands and he slices it towards Hafeez who recovers well. Williamson c Hafeez b 73(101) [4s-7]

4

to Latham, FOUR, straying on leg-stump, tickled away into the fine leg boundary. He couldn't have asked for more at the start of his innings

4

Malik to Ross Taylor, FOUR, drifting across off, Taylor uses the angle and opens the bat-face to drive through point

4

to Latham, FOUR, now he punches the ball down the ground and splits mid-on and mid-off. The timing is impeccable, despite Latham checking his shot

4

Ali to Ross Taylor, FOUR, plays it very late and is able to beat third man. Back of length close to off, doesn't look like Taylor has too much room but he's got this late cut away delightfully

4

Ali to Latham, FOUR, may have been a thick edge but Latham went so hard at it that he's able to comfortably beat third man. Threw his hands at the width on offer and flashes it past backward point

OT

to Ross Taylor, 1 run, fifty for Taylor as he swats this ball behind square. He's batted at a different level than his peers today

W

Khan to Ross Taylor, out Lbw!! This is plumb. Taylor will do well to head straight off. The ball was short which prompted Taylor to go for the pull, but it skids on under his bat to hit the back leg. He's out of here. Big wicket for Pakistan as Taylor seemed to be batting with extraordinary fluency for this track. Ross Taylor lbw b Khan 52(64) [4s-4]

W

Khan to Henry Nicholls, out Caught&Bowled!! Sensational catch from Khan. This is a ripper. His teammates charge towards him in celebration as he rises with the ball in his right hand. Googly on off, Nicholls chips it back off the leading edge but it appears too wide of . That doesn't dissuade him though as he gets across behind Latham and then dives full stretch. On a hat-trick... Henry Nicholls c and b Khan 0(1)

D

Ali to Santner, 1 run, dropped! Hafeez does a good job of getting to the ball, and he got there with time to spare, but then he puts it down. The wind carried the ball much further than it seemed when Santner mistimed it down the ground towards long-on. They take a single

W

Ali to Santner, out Bowled!! Slower ball following Santner down leg, it beats him for pace and then ricochets off the body onto the stumps. Lovely bowling from Ali, just apt for how this pitch is behaving. Santner b Ali 6(12)

W

to Latham, out Caught by Shoaib Malik!! Latham has pulled this straight to hand. Oh dear. New Zealand losing their way towards the end here. It was a slower short ball which held in the pitch and sat up for Latham. Maybe it held up a bit too much for him and robbed him of the timing. Malik takes a good catch running across from deep square leg. Latham c Shoaib Malik b 35(35) [4s-3]

4

to Todd Astle, FOUR, Sarfraz slumps to his knees while screams in disgust and turns back. Back of length down leg, tickled away off the inside edge for four

W

to Todd Astle, out Caught by Fakhar Zaman!! The ball is stopping on this surface, and it brings about another dismissal. Not easy for the lower order. Full delivery on leg-stump, Astle tries working it through mid-wicket. But it holds on him and pops up off the leading edge to short mid-wicket. Dolly for Fakhar. Todd Astle c Fakhar Zaman b 5(3) [4s-1]

4

Ali to Southee, FOUR, short of length, sits up for Southee to swing it away through square leg

W

Ali to Southee, out Bowled!! Knocked him over! A full, pacy delivery from Ali and it goes right through the gate as Southee slogs. Hint of reverse-swing maybe which made it that much more difficult to pump it down the ground. Rattles middle and leg stump. Southee b Ali 6(5) [4s-1]

OT

Ali to Lockie Ferguson, no run, tails in and pins Ferguson on the pad. Sarfraz appears to be suggesting that it's going down leg but then he reluctantly goes for the review. Guess they don't have much to lose at this stage. Ball-tracking confirms it's missing leg

OT

to Lockie Ferguson, 1 run, patted to point. They take a risk and decide to take the single. Would have been gone with a direct-hit but the fielder has just one stump to aim at the striker's end and he misses

4

Ali to Boult, FOUR, ripper from Boult. He clears his front leg and bludgeons this length ball over mid-off. Leads to big cheers from the crowd

4

Ali to Boult, FOUR, another boundary for Boult as he swipes the full ball wide of long-on. He's nailed this

W

Ali to Boult, out Bowled!! NZ bowled out off the final ball. Ali gets the inswinging yorker right and the ball finds its way onto the stumps. Boult, after doing so well, couldn't do much with this one. Inside-edged onto pad, deflects onto the stumps. Boult b Ali 13(9) [4s-2]
