Pakistan in England, 5 ODI Series, 2019
Venue: County Ground, Bristol
Date & Time: 14 May 2019
RR: 8.00 | England beat Pakistan by 6 wickets
That's all from this high-scoring but one-sided game. 717 runs came in total as their was no respite for the bowlers on this minuscule ground in Bristol. The action for the fourth ODI moves to Nottingham. Do join us on 17th May at 1300 local (1200 GMT) for all the action. Cheers!
Jonny Bairstow is chosen for the Man of the Match award. He led the charge of England's batting superbly with his 93-ball 128.
Earlier in the day, powered by Imam-ul-Haq's impressive century and some handy contributions from Haris Sohail and Asif Ali, Pakistan posted their best ODI total batting first in England. At the halfway stage, they would have really fancied their chances but the way their bowling faltered was really disappointing.
Abysmal bowling and fielding performance from Pakistan. Jason Roy was dropped when he was on 21 and after that, their bowlers received a real pounding. There wasn't a single bowler who left any impact or created any pressure. To add to that, their ground fielding was also very substandard. With the World Cup knocking on the door, Pakistan have a really big issue to address.
It was a usual story for England. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow went berserk at the start and put together a 159-run stand in no time. That pegged Pakistan back and in spite of losing Jason Roy, the English team always remained in front. Bairstow and Root then combined for yet another handy partnership to keep the visiting team on the back foot. All the batsmen to follow after that contributed to the cause and eventually it was a very easy and comprehensive victory for the numero uno ODI team.
A cakewalk! England have chased down a target of 359 with ridiculous ease. Didn't even break a sweat. Insane batting. The bowlers suffered yet again. Really feel bad for them. This is the joint fifth highest run chase in ODI history and it has been done with 31 balls to spare. Dominance of the bat at its very best.
Asif Ali comes on.
Eoin Morgan walks in next.
Review time! An LBW appeal against Stokes has been turned down. Ben looked to ramp this full toss but missed it and got hit on the pads. Looked like it was outside off, the impact though!
Shaheen Afridi comes back on.
Free Hit coming up...
The last ten overs will be Powerplay 3. Five fielders can be outside the circle. England need just 47 off 60 balls. Faheem Ashraf comes back on, meanwhile!
Mid on drops back.
The seam of the ball has come out and the umpire is cutting it by using a scissor.
Junaid Khan to have another go...
Hasan Ali is back on.
Moeen Ali walks out now.
Imad Wasim is back on.
Now the slip comes in.
Ben Stokes is the new man in as a part of plan to test out every batsman. Moeen Ali is slated to come in next with Eoin Morgan expected to bat at six.
Shaheen Afridi is back into the attack. 48 runs in 5 overs from him so far...
Hasan Ali charges in but Joe Root is not ready. The batsman pulls out and Ali will have to reload.
The ball seems to have been lost. We have a slight delay as the fourth umpire runs to the middle with a box of balls.
Haris Sohail is now into the attack. Meanwhile, we see some attention for Joe Root who was looking like he had a few cramps.
Hasan Ali comes back on.
Imad Wasim comes back on now. 3-0-31-0 so far.
Interesting fact - Jonny Bairstow has scored 98 percent of his runs through the leg side in today's innings so far! Gives you an idea of where the Pakistan bowlers have been bowling and what they need to do. Duh, make him play on the offside!
Joe Root walks out next.
Fine leg drops back.
Change of bat for Jonny Bairstow! As if the old willow was not doing enough damage already...
Drinks break. Phew! Insane batting from the English openers. They have taken the Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners here and are making a complete mockery of this run chase. The required rate is now just over 6 as both Roy and Bairstow are closing in on their individual centuries. The formed got a life and is duly punishing the visiting team. A cruise at the moment for England.
Stat alert - Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow have the most runs by an opening pair for England and also have the most number of century stands. The J and J Show!
A huge discussion... between the keeper, bowler and Hasan Ali!
Change of gloves for Jason Roy. Meanwhile, there is a bowling change as well. Shaheen Afridi is back on.
Faheem Ashraf comes on now.
Haha! Imad Wasim is into his delivery stride and Jason Roy moves out at the last moment. They are having a go at each other.
Powerplay 2 time! 4 fielders are allowed now outside the inner circle till the end of the 40th over!
The shoe has been taken off by Wasim... he looks in real pain here! The physio will definitely have a look but it does not seem too good! He is continuing!!!
Imad Wasim comes on to bowl now.
Hasan Ali is into the attack now.
Slight movement near the sightscreen. Jonny Bairstow is not happy and want the security guards there to settle down or move away.
Shaheen Afridi to bowl with the other new ball.
We're back for the run chase. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow are the English openers. The start in a big run chase like this is of utmost importance. These two have been in fine form of late and would try to provide that here. Pakistan will start proceedings with Junaid Khan. This should be a riveting battle, let's play!!!
