4

to Tamim, FOUR, Tamim gets underway in style. Trademark Tamim shot. Short and wide outside off, enough width to free the arms and the left-hander cuts it to the left of backward point

4

to Tamim, FOUR, that's a beautiful shot! Uppish, but in the gap. Pitched up delivery outside off, Tamim bends his back knee and times the cover-drive. He played it on the rise and the ball rocketed away

4

to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, sloppy! Shortish ball, Soumya Sarkar jumps and slaps it towards extra cover, where Kevin O'Brien makes a mess of it. Doesn't have his body behind the ball and allows the ball to burst through his fingers. Sarkar won't mind that. A boundary against his name

4

to Tamim, FOUR, that's a hit-me delivery. Drifting down leg, Tamim moves across in his crease and clips it fine into the fine leg fence

6

to Soumya Sarkar, SIX, that made a cracking sound when bat made contact with the ball. Length ball outside off, Soumya Sarkar walks down and lofts it handsomely over the long-on ropes. It came right off the sweet spot. Looks like the ball is lost

4

McCarthy to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, that's a good looking shot! McCarthy is struggling with his lines. Pitches it up and bowls on the pads of the batsman. Easy pickings for Soumya Sarkar who flicks it over square leg

6

McCarthy to Soumya Sarkar, SIX, and again, McCarthy needs to correct his line. Full and down leg, Soumya Sarkar middles the flick, doesn't bother to keep it down. The man at long leg dived past the rope and got a hand on it

4

McCarthy to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, that's a marvellous shot! Not a bad ball, just excellent bit of batting. Good length delivery outside off, Soumya Sarkar plants his front foot across and drives on the up. Finds the gap between mid-off and extra cover

4

to Tamim, FOUR, wow! Just wow. Shortish ball without any venom behind it, Tamim spots it early and fiercely pulls it in front of square on the leg-side. That was the Nataraja-pull shot

4

to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, this is poor stuff from the Irish bowlers. Too many freebies on offer, Soumya Sarkar is too good to ignore gifts like that. Fullish down the leg-side, Sarkar doesn't go hard at it. Just tickles it gets it fine of the diving short fine leg fielder

4

to Tamim, FOUR, wasn't that short, Tamim converted it into one by rocketing back in his crease. Pulls it to deep mid-wicket

4

O'Brien to Tamim, FOUR, appeal for lbw, turned down by the umpire. He signals runs. Tamim moves across and looks to play the pull shot. It was on the stumps and hence he was cramped up for room. He might have got a glove onto his thigh pad. The ball dribbles away into the fine leg fence

W

O'Brien to Tamim, out Caught by Niall O'Brien!! The 95-run stand has been broken and Tamim misses his half-ton by three runs. A tame end to his knock. O'Brien pounded it short and slanted it across the left-hander. Tamim falls for the bait by having a poke at it. He wasn't committed into the stroke and gets a faint outside edge through to the keeper. The batsman stood his ground. The Irish guys had to appeal really hard, the umpire took his time before raising the dreaded finger. Tamim c Niall O'Brien b O'Brien 47(54) [4s-6]

4

O'Brien to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, not the ideal pace to give width for any batsman. Soumya Sarkar gets on top of the bounce and crashes the drive through covers. Sweeper cover escorts the ball to the fence

4

to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, back-to-back fifties for Soumya Sarkar. His 6th overall. Opens the bat face slightly and runs it wide of the slip fielder. Wasn't far though. Enough bat for the ball to race down to the third man fence. Bangladesh camp are up on their feet to applaud his effort

4

to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, on the pads and Soumya Sarkar makes maximum use of it. Rolls his wrists as he flicks it to deep backward square leg. Fine leg gives , but in vain

D

to Soumya Sarkar, 2 runs, things are getting bad to worse for Ireland. A drop catch now. Soumya Sarkar pokes at a wide delivery and gets a thick outside edge to the left of the keeper. Niall O'Brien dives to his left and goes with one hand. Fails to hold onto the catch and the ball rolls down to third man for a brace

4

to S Rahman, FOUR, excellent use of the feet from Sabbir. Dances down the track and drills the drive through covers. No chance for the man in the deep

4

to S Rahman, FOUR, crashed to the fence. Width on offer outside off, Sabbir gets across and slaps it past backward point. The ball rockets to the fence

4

McCarthy to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, McCarthy is back for his second spell and Soumya Sarkar dispatches one from his presence. Clears his front foot to a full delivery and lofts it over mid-on for a boundary

4

to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, looks like Soumya Sarkar is in a hurry to finish things. Throws the kitchen sink at a length delivery and gets a thick outside edge over the slip cordon. A couple of bounces and into the fence

6

to S Rahman, SIX, Sabbir is on it now. Skips down the track to a full delivery and thumps it over the bowlers head. Hits the sightscreen on the full

4

McCarthy to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, improvisation at its best. Soumya Sarkar backs away and arches his back to hit it over the keeper. It was a short delivery on the stumps and Soumya Sarkar executed the upper cut to perfection

4

McCarthy to S Rahman, FOUR, Sabbir comes down the track and drills it through the covers. Mid-off can't get across. Once the ball beats the in-field it was always racing away to the fence

W

McCarthy to S Rahman, out Caught by Dockrell!! One shot too many. Wasn't in any sort of control. McCarthy bangs it in short expecting Sabbir to charge down the track. Sabbir goes for the pull and top edges it to deep square leg. Dockrell settles under a skier and takes a good catch. S Rahman c Dockrell b McCarthy 35(34) [4s-3 6s-1]

4

McCarthy to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, another short delivery outside off, Soumya Sarkar has his eyes on the ball all the way and upper cuts it over the slip. Once bounce and into the fence. Scores level

W

to Stirling, out Caught by S Rahman!! First breakthrough for Bangladesh! After two inswingers, angles one across the right-hander from a back of a length, Stirling hops and has a poke at it. Bit of extra bounce as well. The outside edge is gobbled up by Sabbir Rahman at gully. Stirling c S Rahman b 0(3)

4

to Porterfield, FOUR, Hossain doesn't get away this time. Too many on the pads and all Porterfield had to do was get some wood behind it, which he did. A tickle that beats the keeper and runs away into the fine leg fence

6

to Porterfield, SIX, first maximum of the day! Short ball, Porterfield waits on the back foot and pulls it handsomely over the square leg fence. Just over the rope

4

to Porterfield, FOUR, no need to run for shots like that. Length ball around off, Porterfield prods forward, middles the off-drive. No chance for mid-off and the ball bullets away into the fence

4

to Porterfield, FOUR, four more! Short ball and Porterfield is quick to take full toll of it. Gets into a good position and fiercely pulls it through mid-wicket

D

to Porterfield, no run, dropped! Mosaddek the culprit. Porterfield is early to close his bat face, the leading edge pops up straight into the hands of Hossain, who makes a mess of it. How costly is that going to be?

W

Hossain to Porterfield, out Caught&Bowled!! There you go! Mashrafe Mortaza's move to give the ball to Hossain has worked. The bowler is delighted, why not! He bowls it slightly fuller and Porterfield is a bit early into his drive. In the end, chips it back to the bowler who takes a good catch bending forward. Porterfield c and b Hossain 22(25) [4s-3 6s-1]

6

to Andy Balbirnie, SIX, top shot! Slightly overpitched, Balbirnie gets down on one knee and smacks the slog sweep. Off the middle and the ball flies away over deep mid-wicket

4

to Ed Joyce, FOUR, short and wide outside off, Joyce punishes him. Waits for the ball on the back foot and scythes it away well wide of backward point. No chance for third man

W

to Andy Balbirnie, out Bowled!! Wow! Right through the defence of Balbirnie. strikes in his second over. It was the arm ball and Balbirnie played for the turn. He is forward to block it thereby manufacturing a gap between bat and pad. The ball sneaks through it and hits the top of off. Andy Balbirnie b 12(24) [6s-1]

4

Hossain to Ed Joyce, FOUR, short and lots of width outside off, Joyce waits for it and cuts it superbly through the covers. Found the gap and there is none stopping that

6

to Niall O'Brien, SIX, finally! The shackles are broken and how! Puts on the dancing shoes, then in sync with the flight of the ball, reaches to the pitch of it and lofts it over the man at long-on, who looks up to see it soaring away

4

Hossain to Niall O'Brien, FOUR, rocks back and punches the ball away past cover and then the shot had generated enough speed to whizz past the man at sweeper cover

4

to Ed Joyce, FOUR, another shimmy down the track and then the uppish clip through the vacant cow corner region for a four. The movement to get to the pitch of the ball made the shot look very easy

W

to Niall O'Brien, out Caught by Tamim!! Tragedy for Ireland! Short ball outside off and the batsman threw his bat at that. The ball though found the throat of the man at third man and Tamim took it well over his head. Excellent move to bring back the Fizz and he strikes for the Tigers immediately. A wicket against the run of play for Bangladesh as Joyce and Niall were batting really well. Niall O'Brien c Tamim b 30(42) [4s-1 6s-1]

4

Islam to Kevin O'Brien, FOUR, that is some stroke, blasts the ball down the ground, over mid-on for a one bounce four. It was right up there for the batsman to take the bait. The ball seems to have gone into a hiding

W

Islam to Ed Joyce, out Caught by Tamim!! Poor shot. Looks to clear the man at long-on but fails. That was a well looped up ball and the batsman skipped down the track to traverse the man at long-on. The bat face turned on impact and as such he was never to the pitch of the ball to find any sort of an elevation or distance on it. Poor from the experienced - Joyce. Ed Joyce c Tamim b Islam 46(74) [4s-3]

W

to Kevin O'Brien, out Caught by Mosaddek Hossain!! What an excellent catch running forward from Mosaddek! The ball angled across the burly right hander, who decided to flay a drive at that. The ball took the thicker outer part of the bat and scaled a lot of height. The man from sweeper - Mosaddek came charging in and then flung himself towards the ball to take the catch out of thin air and complete a stupendous take. Ireland are self-destructing now. Kevin O'Brien c Mosaddek Hossain b 10(11) [4s-1]

W

to Wilson, out Caught by Rahim!! Short ball aimed at the torso, the batsman misses the pull and the ball chalks the thigh pad on the way to the keeper. But the ump fails to see that and raises the dreaded finger. The Fizz is delighted and so are the Bangladeshis but Wilson is livid as he doesn't want to go. The batsman was well early into the shot and it gave an impression to the ump that the ball flicked the under-glove on its way. Wilson c Rahim b 6(17)

4

to Barry McCarthy, FOUR, much needed runs for Ireland. Doesn't matter how they come now. Barry McCarthy's foot is stuck in the crease and he goes hard with his hands to get a thick inside edge past the stumps. Fine leg was too square to cut that

4

to Dockrell, FOUR, a boundary from nowhere. Dockrell gets deep in his crease and punches it past sweeper cover. Ireland need more of these from here

W

Islam to Barry McCarthy, out Lbw!! The 35-run partnership has been broken by Islam. Not the ideal shot to attempt. Barry McCarthy sinks low to sweep across the line. The ball pings him low on the pad and looked like it would have crashed middle and leg. Umpire had no doubts in mind and raises his finger. Barry McCarthy lbw b Islam 12(23) [4s-1]

W

to Dockrell, out Caught by Rahim!! Stubborn innings from George Dockrell comes to an end. He makes room and looks to loft it over the in-field. All he manages is a thick outside edge through to the keeper as his feet were nowhere close to the ball. Dockrell c Rahim b 25(50) [4s-1]

W

to Chase, out Caught by Rahim!! That's the end of Ireland's innings. Chase looks to force it to the off-side and gets a thick outside edge. Rahim takes a blinder to end it. It was always going away from him, he flies to his right and sticks his right glove to take the catch airborne. Chase c Rahim b 0(1)
