commentary

Four days in and we have had some absolute crackers, couple involving CHN. They are just showing us how much everybody missed them in the last two seasons. Two close finishes and they got over the line both the times. One remarkable thing about CHN is their awesomeness to find unlikely heroes, today it was Sam Billings. Right on that note, this is Akshay Maanay taking leave from the comm box along with my colleagues Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Raju Peethala, Abhinand Raghavendran, Nikhil Jadhav and scorer Naga. Good night!

-------------------------------

Sam Billings, Man of the Match: It was an absolute pleasure to play in a team of legends. That is the great thing about the T20 League. You have the opportunity to learn from Hussey; the batting coach as well. You know your options in your head, plan A, plan B and plan C, but you need to believe in yourself and execute. Thankfully it was my day and it was a lot of fun. We showed in the first game with Bravo, in T20 cricket, you need to take it deep. We have lots of power in our batting line-up and we know as a team any target can be breached.

Dhoni: It feels good to come back after two years and win the first game. I think it was a fantastic game. They (the crowd) deserved every bit of it; the first innings and the second innings. Everyone has their emotions and we tell everybody to keep it under control. We need to have the faith in the batsman who is batting or the bowler who is bowling. At the end of the day, there is one man to bat that particular delivery and one bowler to bowl that particular over. Lot of positive energy helps. At times you feel disappointed, but that's why the dressing room is there to express yourself and not in the dugout. We all feel the same. If we are too expressive, the commentators get a lot to talk about. Yes (about different players contributing). But every game one player is getting injured. By that calculation we will not have 14 players at the end of the league other than that it is good to see Sam bat the way he did. Somehow still feel that KOL scored more than us because with all those sixes. T20 League should add two more runs for sixes hit out of the ground. Bowlers had a rough day from both the sides, but overall it was a good day for the crowd over here.

Shane Watson gets the purple cap for becoming the highest wicket-taker - It was a really nice wicket. The ball was coming nicely onto the bat. Chasing 202, we needed to get off to a flier, to make things easier for the rest of the batting. We have had a sea of supporters - even during practice sessions, it's very special. It was do-or-die (regarding the strategy for the chase), we had to get a feel of the wicket and then had to go and play our shots. If it was your day, it would go over the fence, it turned up well for us today. The game is evolving and getting better, it feels great for me at this stage of my career to play for such a great franchise and in front of the cricket loving people of India.

Dinesh Karthik: CHN is coming back after two years and we were expecting that (support). Hats off to them. They played a good game. Hats off to Andre. He put is in a great position. These things happen in T20 cricket. You gotta keep your chin up and keep moving forward. In T20s, you are going to lose some games. It's important to take the positives. In the next games, we shouldn't repeat the same mistakes. We are playing HYD at home; two good teams and it's going to be a good match for sure.

What a game! How do you go about chasing a 200+ target? By recording your team's fastest fifty. Watson and Rayudu gave them the perfect start and added 75 for the opening wicket in 5.5 overs. The KOL spinners - Narine and Kuldeep brought the visitors back in the game with some tight bowling and managed to take the required run-rate past 12. Raina could not get going because of cramps, while Dhoni took time before nailing a couple. However, the telling contribution came from CHN's new recruit - Sam Billings. The Englishman mixed it with some mindful batting and sensational hitting. With 17 needed off the final over, the game could have gone either side, but Vinay Kumar's poor start tilted it in favour of CHN, who finished off the chase with a ball remaining.

Ufff! Let me take a breather before we start summarizing the game. The CHN players run on to the ground to congratulate the batsmen. Jadeja and Bravo have word with each other. Dhoni as usual remains calm even as the crowd erupt after the winning hit. Bravo started doing his jig and Jadeja had his arms aloft. Glum faces in the KOL team. They had their moments but CHN did what CHN do - believe in themselves to pull off another heist.

6
Vinay Kumar to Jadeja, SIX, the roof has come down at Chepauk. Jadeja seals the win with a mighty six. Did I say he's not connecting 'em well? He's just nailed this one. The slower delivery, off-cutter from Vinay, right in the arc for Jadeja, who waits before teeing off, full swing of the arms and the ball sails over the long-on fence

Lynn has a word with Vinay. Fine leg and third man in. Over the wicket to Jadeja..

19.4
1
Vinay Kumar to Dwayne Bravo, 1 run, steps out of the crease and yorks himself, well bowled by Vinay, speared it full and outside off from round the wicket, Bravo drags it off the toe-end to long-on and has to settle with a single

Now the two batsmen have a word in the middle. It must be on the running. To go for the second or not. Jadeja has found it difficult to connect with the big hits. So, Bravo should keep most of the strike. "Bravo, Bravo" chants the Chepauk crowd.

19.3
1
Vinay Kumar to Jadeja, 1 run, off-speed delivery and Jadeja is quite happy to give the strike back to Bravo, steers it with an open bat face to backward point
19.3
1
Vinay Kumar to Jadeja, wide, over the wicket for the left-hander, Vinay sprays it well outside off, Jadeja allows it to pass and pockets a wide. DK runs up to his bowler and has a quick word with him
19.2
1
Vinay Kumar to Dwayne Bravo, 1 run, Bravo is livid with Jadeja. He wanted the second and is sent back. Shortens the length and angles it across, Bravo pulls it on the bounce to deep mid-wicket, there was two had Jadeja sprinted back, instead he keeps strike
19.1
2
Vinay Kumar to Dwayne Bravo, 2 runs, caught at long-on and the fielder takes an eternity to release the ball. Should have thrown it immediately. Full delivery angled across from round the wicket, Bravo goes through with the hack and cue-ends it to long-on. Rinku Singh was the fielder and he allowed the second to be taken

Free-hit coming up..

19.1
7
Vinay Kumar to Dwayne Bravo, no ball, SIX, terrible terrible start from Vinay Kumar. KOL owner Shah Rukh Khan affords a smile. A high full toss well above the waist, Bravo somehow managed to swing it away off the top-edge and over fine leg. What a start to the over!

Vinay Kumar [1.0-0-16-0] is back into the attack

So after all the twisting and turning it comes down to 17 off the final over. Vinay ran straightaway after fielding the final ball of the over. It must be him. Big responsibility for the Karnataka captain. The tension can be seen amongst the fans. Very stoic faces in the crowd. DK moving his field around. Third man and fine leg inside the ring. Here we go..

18.6
1
Tom Curran to Dwayne Bravo, 1 run, full and tailing in, Bravo flicks it to deep mid-wicket, just a single
18.5
1
Tom Curran to Jadeja, 1 run, slower delivery and Jadeja advances down, deceived in pace and knocks it into the off-side, wanted the second but Bravo ain't interested, puts his hand up and sends Jadeja back

Dwayne Bravo, right handed bat, comes to the crease

18.4

Tom Curran to Billings, out Caught by Uthappa!! Uthappa pumps his fists. KOL find a lifeline once again. Full delivery and right in the slot, had Billings stayed put without moving to the leg-side, he could have connected with the loft better, instead he had to reach out and managed only a toe-end to long-off. Uthappa ran across to his left to pouch that. Nevertheless, Billings has given CHN a chance to pull this off and Chepauk might have found a new hero in him. Billings c Uthappa b Tom Curran 56(23) [4s-2 6s-5]

Tom Curran to Billings, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

18.3
6
Tom Curran to Billings, SIX, Billings is playing a gem here. He is getting the big hit at the right moment. The slower delivery and Billings was waiting for it with a crouched stance, gets underneath it and nails the pull over deep square leg
18.2
1
Tom Curran to Jadeja, 1 run, slower delivery slanted across off, Jadeja steers it to third man and hands the strike back to Billings

Fastest 50s for CHN in T20 League:
16 S Raina v PUN, Mumbai WS, 2014
20 MS Dhoni v MUM, Bengaluru, 2012
21 S Billings, tonight *

18.1
1
Tom Curran to Billings, 1 run, fifty for Billings. CHN needed someone to take over the baton after Raina's wicket and the Kent batsman has taken the onus on himself to keep the chase going. Raises the bat and gets the applause from the yellow faithfuls. Walked across his stumps and Curran fired it in the blockhole, the sweep comes off the under edge and bobbles away to fine leg

Tom Curran [2.0-0-29-1] is back into the attack

Those two sixes from Billings has brought the equation down to 27 off 12. Another big over and the match might be done and dusted. Curran in his debut game to bowl the penultimate over. Pressure!

17.6
0
A Russell to Jadeja, no run, beaten! Very rare to see a batsman get beaten off a length ball at this stage. Russell angled it across the left-hander and Jadeja with laden feet had a poke at it, beaten on the outside edge
17.5
1
A Russell to Billings, 1 run, banged into the surface, Billings pulls it on the bounce to deep square leg, for a single
17.4
6
A Russell to Billings, SIX, this is spectacular. It was the off-cutter on back of a length, Billings had moved away to the leg-side and was almost cramped for room, extended his arms and lofted it over long-on. It was more of a punch from the Englishman. Reminded me of the Kohli shot against Chris Woakes
17.3
6
A Russell to Billings, SIX, geez! Some skill that. He waited and waited, moved right across his stumps when Russell was about to deliver, crouched low and scooped the low full toss all the way over fine leg. The crowd find their voice again
17.2
1
A Russell to Jadeja, 1 run, short and at the body, Jadeja swivel and pulls it to fine leg. Two singles to start the 18th
17.1
1
A Russell to Billings, 1 run, short of length on off, Billings backs away and knocks it to mid-off, just a single

Andre Russell [3.0-0-20-0] is back into the attack

42 off 18. Was it a wise move to send Jadeja ahead of Bravo? Especially when the latter has just won them the game. Russell to bowl his final over. DK relying on Curran and the others to bowl the last two.

16.6
1
Chawla to Billings, 1 run, flatter and on the stumps, Billings nudges it into the on-side and retains strike
16.5
4
Chawla to Billings, FOUR, much needed boundary for CHN. It had been a quiet over so far. Billings didn't connect it properly but struck it in the gap, front leg out of the way and a swing of the arms, couple of bounces and into the cow corner fence
16.4
1
Chawla to Jadeja, 1 run, where was Jadeja going? Chawla was appealing for LBW. There was no run. Hangs back to this faster delivery and ekes out an inside edge onto the pad, the ball rolled adjacent to the wicket on the off-side and Jadeja was off, didn't even know where the ball was, Karthik got across and fired a throw at the striker's end. Missed and Jadeja survives, they eventually get the run on the overthrow

Ravindra Jadeja, left handed bat, comes to the crease

16.3
0
Chawla to Dhoni, out Caught by Karthik!! Dhoni walks. Pin drop silence at Chepauk. Is that the match? Well, there is still Bravo - last game's match-winner. Dhoni waits as the umpire checks for a front foot no-ball, Chawla is fine and Dhoni continues walking. Clever bowling from Chawla, slowed it up a touch and kept it outside off, Dhoni was down on his knee to play the sweep, through the shot early and the under edge is found. Karthik has a juggle before completing the catch. Dhoni didn't even wait for the umpire. Started walking as soon as he saw the catch taken. Dhoni c Karthik b Chawla 25(28) [4s-1 6s-1]

Chawla to Dhoni, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

16.3
1
Chawla to Dhoni, wide, fired down leg and Dhoni stays his ground to pick up an extra
16.2
1
Chawla to Billings, 1 run, that was the seam-up delivery, bowled at 113.9kph, Billings steps out of the crease looking to heave it into the leg-side, done in for pace and the inside edge rolls away to short fine
16.1
1
Chawla to Dhoni, 1 run, flighted delivery that is almost near the blockhole, Dhoni squeezes the drive to long-on and Billings wanted the second, the skipper was quick to send him back. Right call

Piyush Chawla [3.0-0-40-0] is back into the attack

Narine to Dhoni in T20 League:
51 balls, 25 runs, no fours, no sixes, no dismissals, SR 49.01

Strategic time-out! Narine is done. Impressive figures for him, 4-0-17-1. He really does enjoy bowling at Chepauk. What is the scenario now? 51 off 24. Russell has one. Curran has two. Who will DK go for the other one? Kuldeep or Vinay? Looks like it is going to be Kuldeep. Nope it is Chawla. Watch out for the seam-up deliveries..

15.6
2
Narine to Billings, 2 runs, and Billings nudges one into the on-side ring, Dhoni was off in a flash and wanted two, he was cruising for the second when he saw the throw come to his end and decide to charge. Got it comfortably
15.5
1
Narine to Dhoni, leg byes, 1 run, steps out and does not pick the off-break, misses the nudge and is off the thigh pad to backward square
15.4
0
Narine to Dhoni, no run, carrom ball and Dhoni was looking to copy Billings - play it with loose hands, but can't get it in the gap, straight to cover
15.3
1
Narine to Billings, 1 run, flatter and around off, Billings wrists it down to long-on
15.2
2
Narine to Billings, 2 runs, that's what needs to be done against Narine. Run down the wicket and work it with soft hands into the gap, placed into the leg-side and the duo are quick to steal the second
15.1
1
Narine to Dhoni, 1 run, fraction short and Dhoni pulls it to deep mid-wicket, just a single

Sunil Narine [3.0-0-11-1] is back into the attack

The equation has come down to 58 off 30. And over the years when KOL have had a costly over, they have turned to Narine to produce a quiet one. The West Indian is on here bowling his last over. Dhoni will face him..

14.6
6
Tom Curran to Billings, SIX, and he ends it with a maximum. Another big over for CHN, 17 off it. Curran fires in a full toss around the hip, Billings was moving around in the crease, stands still at the point of contact and heaves it flat over deep backward square
14.5
1
Tom Curran to Dhoni, 1 run, the back of the hand slower ball, Dhoni eases it past cover and gives the strike back to Billings
14.4
1
Tom Curran to Billings, 1 run, nails the yorker and there is not much any batsmen could do, squeezed out to mid-off
14.3
6
Tom Curran to Billings, SIX, fabulous shot! To get such power behind that shot is incredible. Curran missed his yorker length by an inch or so, Billings stayed on leg-stump and went through with the inside out loft, cleared the fence quite comfortably. Nice hands!
14.2
2
Tom Curran to Billings, 2 runs, dropped! That should have been taken. Uthappa the culprit. Full and on the stumps, Billings makes room to go over mid-off, does not get the elevation and Uthappa does not time his jump near the edge of the circle. Parries it behind him and Rinku Singh from long-on tidies up

This should be interesting - Englishman v Englishman. Point moves back and sweeper comes in for Billings. Scratch that. Sweeper out and point in. Mid-off inside the circle as well..

14.1
1
Tom Curran to Dhoni, 1 run, starts with a slower delivery at 121.3kph, Dhoni delays his steer and places it wide of backward point, single to start the over

Tom Curran [1.0-0-12-1] is back into the attack

That 16-run over has helped bring the required run-rate down to 12.5. Remember, DK has bowled out three of Russell's overs. So, there is a big job waiting for debutant - Tom Curran. Here he is. Helmet on for Dhoni. Plenty of field changes. Karthik is waving his hand all over the field. Fine leg and third man inside the ring for Dhoni and Karthik is still not done setting his field.

13.6
2
Kuldeep Yadav to Billings, leg byes, 2 runs, wrong 'un and Billings did not pick it, shuffled across his sticks to play the sweep and missed it, the ball brushed his right shoulder and went fine
13.5
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, 1 run, quicker and on the legs, nurdled round the corner - to backward square leg
13.5
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, wide, Kuldeep fires it outside off expecting Dhoni to give the charge, wide called
13.4
6
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, SIX, outta here! This is what the Chepauk crowd have been waiting for more than two years - Dhoni at his best. Tossed up on leg-stump, Dhoni cleared his front leg to give himself a free swing of the arms, sends the ball sailing over the deep mid-wicket fence
13.3
4
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, FOUR, murdered! That might get him going. Need a boundary off the middle and he's got it. Shimmies down and gets close to the flighted delivery then drills it straight down the ground, went at the rate of knots
13.2
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Billings, 1 run, once again on the shorter side of Kuldeep and Billings carves the cut to sweeper cover
13.1
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, 1 run, trifle short and Dhoni pulls it in front of square leg, just a single

Kuldeep Yadav [2.0-0-13-1] is back into the attack

Dhoni just took a pill between the overs. Is he also carrying a niggle or something? Doesn't show on his poker face.

12.6
1
Chawla to Dhoni, 1 run, Dhoni was on the charge, but saw the pulled back length and stood his ground, sliced the cut to short third man and settles with a single. Should have done better as he had the room
12.5
1
Chawla to Billings, 1 run, shortens the length and keeps it on, Billings opens the bat face and directs it square on the off-side
12.4
2
Chawla to Billings, 2 runs, once more uses his feet and works it in the gap - between deep mid-wicket and long-on, two more added
12.3
4
Chawla to Billings, FOUR, wow! Just a flick of the wrists and Rinku Singh, one of the quick movers, could not get around to stop it. Dances down and gets to the pitch, whipped against the turn to wide long-on, the timing was exquisite
12.2
1
Chawla to Dhoni, 1 run, firing 'em in is Chawla, Dhoni is late in bringing his bat down and the inside edge is squirted past the stumps to backward square leg, he was searching for the ball there
12.1
0
Chawla to Dhoni, no run, shade quicker and on off, Dhoni watchfully knocks it back to Chawla

Piyush Chawla [2.0-0-31-0] is back into the attack

CHN need exact 100 off 48 balls. They need to rethink their strategy. Dhoni to bat through, while Billings, Bravo and Jadeja to smash it around. Looks like the skipper is going on the attack as he changes his bat - might be to a heavier one.

"That was the first time Narine dismissed Raina..." - Deepu, our statsman, is sharp as ever.

11.6
1
Narine to Dhoni, 1 run, short and outside off, Dhoni waits before playing the cut shot to the right of point, the fielder gets a hand and deviates it in the path of the sweeper cover. Another tidy over from Narine
11.5
0
Narine to Dhoni, no run, runs down the wicket without much clue, closes the bat face to work it into the on-side, ekes out an inside edge onto the pad, no chance of the single and the ball goes quickly to cover
11.4
1
Narine to Billings, 1 run, carrom ball around off, Billings hangs back and wrists it to long-on

Sam Billings, right handed bat, comes to the crease

11.3
0
Narine to Raina, out Caught by Vinay Kumar!! The cramp derailed him of the momentum. He was really struggling. Limps off to a quiet stadium. The delivery was short alright and Raina picked the length early, but his feet could not make the adjustment to rock back and the pull was off the top-edge, Vinay ran across to his left from long-on and completed a straightforward catch. Might be a good thing for CHN as Raina was not able to run as well and we know that Dhoni needs someone to sprint along with him. Raina c Vinay Kumar b Narine 14(12) [6s-1]

Narine to Raina, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

11.2
1
Narine to Dhoni, 1 run, shortens the length and Dhoni punches it square on the off-side, single to sweeper
11.1
0
Narine to Dhoni, no run, Narine is a smart operator and he will mix it up. Important to read him from the hand rather the surface. Dhoni did not pick the off-break and lunged forward to nudge it into the on-side, beaten on the inside edge and struck around the kneeroll. The big press forward helped him there as ball-tracking showed it to be going over

KOL review: Narine and DK confer and decide to challenge the LBW appeal against Dhoni. Fair delivery. It was the offie and not sure if Dhoni picked it. Struck on the front pad. No inside edge as per UltraEdge. Ball-tracking shows it to be going over. Review lost! A loud roar as that plays on the giant screen.

That six was the first boundary in 34 balls.

10.6
6
Kuldeep Yadav to Raina, SIX, that's what he was trying at the start of the over. Raina remains the key to this chase. Floated up outside off, Raina with a stride forward lofts it handsomely inside out over extra cover, just about manages to clear the rope
10.5
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, 1 run, not short enough to play the pull and hence the bottom hand comes off as Dhoni goes through with the shot, all along the ground to deep mid-wicket
10.4
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Raina, 1 run, dragged back length and Raina is cramped on the pull, still goes through and picks out deep mid-wicket
10.3
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, 1 run, flatter and around off, punched to long-off
10.2
0
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, no run, fraction short and outside off, Dhoni cuts it to backward point. Raina struggling with cramps is not going for that quick single

Raina struggling with his running. Could barely cross over.

10.1
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Raina, 1 run, dropped! Tom Curran did a remarkable job of getting to the ball. So, tough to call it a drop. Flighted outside off, Raina sans footwork went for the inside out loft, nowhere near the middle and the ball skied towards deep extra cover. Curran ran forward, dived full length and got fingertips to it

113 runs required off the last 10 overs! Some sanity restored after that manic powerplay. The last four overs have yielded only 15 runs. CHN will want their experienced to rebuild the innings. The required rate has shot past 11.

9.6
0
Narine to Dhoni, no run, floated outside off, played to point by Dhoni

Deepu Numberayanan's stats corner: "Since T20 League 2013, among the 45 players who have faced at least 250 balls in the middle overs (7-15), MS Dhoni is the only player to score at less than a run-a-ball with a strike-rate of 95.30 during this stage."

Raina is in trouble, he seems to be struggling with cramps. Hopefully nothing more than that. He has taken the pad off and the physio is out on the field attending him. Conditions at Chepauk, even the best and the fittest in the business can feel the heat here. So hot. So humid.

9.5
1
Narine to Raina, 1 run, the off-spinner on leg, Raina has eased that down to long-on for a single
9.4
1
Narine to Dhoni, 1 run, that was well outside off, Dhoni had to reach for it as he slapped it to sweeper cover
9.3
1
Narine to Raina, 1 run, short and flat on the pads, nudged to square leg for a run by Raina
9.2
1
Narine to Dhoni, 1 run, this one was turning away from Dhoni and he simply ramps it down to fine leg, Chawla sprints towards the ball, gathers it and quickly releases it, denies them the second
9.1
0
Narine to Dhoni, no run, quicker delivery coming into the batsman, Dhoni tentatively defends it down
8.6
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, 1 run, aggression from the skipper. Flighted delivery around middle, Dhoni charges down the wicket and smacks that hard to long-on, on a few bounces to the fielder stationed there
8.5
0
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, no run, gives that a bit of flight on middle and leg, Dhoni walks down the wicket to flick it away, but the extra spin on that is too good for him as it clips his pads
8.4
0
Kuldeep Yadav to Dhoni, no run, quicker delivery around off, Dhoni defends it off the front foot

My bad, Deepu was the culprit. Not Kaushik...

"Kuldeep to Dhoni in T20 League: 6 2 W 0 0 0 1 1 W. #BunnyAlert." - Oh, Kaushik, I really hope no one saw you typing that hashtag at the stadium! :O

MS Dhoni, right handed bat, comes to the crease

8.3
0
Kuldeep Yadav to Rayudu, out Caught by (sub)Shivam Mavi!! Both the set openers are back in the hut now. That was bowled outside off and was spinning away from the batsman, Rayudu goes ahead with his chip shot and times it straight to the subsitute fielder who comes running in and takes it. Are KOL getting back in this match? With two new batsmen at the crease getting those odd boundaries might get a bit difficult. Rayudu c (sub)Shivam Mavi b Kuldeep Yadav 39(26) [4s-3 6s-2]

Kuldeep Yadav to Rayudu, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

8.2
1
Kuldeep Yadav to Raina, 1 run, short and spinning into the batsman on middle, Raina nudges it to short mid-wicket and takes a run
8.1
1

Kuldeep Yadav, left-arm chinaman, comes into the attack

7.6
1
Narine to Rayudu, 1 run, only 4 runs off the over, the miserly Narine is here. Short and quick around off, Rayudu drags it down to long-on and retains strike for the next over. 8 runs have come in the two overs after the powerplay
7.5
0
Narine to Rayudu, no run, 'yours' is the call by DK as Rayudu knocks the quicker delivery back to Narine

Sunil Narine, right-arm off break, comes into the attack

After getting Watson's wicket, Tom Curran gave him a send off. Some words were exchanged between the two and the commentators are having a laugh about it. KP, especially! He absolutely loved it!

A Russell to Raina, 1 run, back of a length outside off, Raina calmly steers it down to third man for a single

Umpires are not happy with the condition of the ball. Probably due to it's color. The white ball has turned to blue and Rayudu has a problem with that. He has asked the umpire to have a look at it, and I suppose it has been changed. Yes, they have!

A Russell to Rayudu, 1 run, on a length outside off, Rayudu guides it towards short third man and gets to the other end

Time-out! 75 runs in 6 overs, whoosh! That's some batting, some mad hitting by the openers in the powerplay. Had that wicket not fallen, it would have been an ideal powerplay for the hosts. With Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav yet to bowl it would be interesting to see how the CHN top order deals with them.

Tom Curran to Watson, out Caught by Rinku Singh!! Maiden wicket for Tom Curran in T20 League. A breather for KOL there. Short of a length delivery around off and Watson pulls it hard again. But there's a fielder in the deep, it's Rinku Singh out there. He moves to his left and grabs it eventually to bring an end to Watson's blitzkrieg. CHN couldn't have asked for a better start from the Aussie all-rounder. Wait on.. the crowd at Chepauk welcomes Raina with a loud cheer. The highest run scorer for CHN in history of T20 League is at the crease. Watson c Rinku Singh b Tom Curran 42(19) [4s-3 6s-3]

Tom Curran to Watson, FOUR, the newbie to T20 League is welcomed in style by Watson. It's short again and looking at the kind of touch Watson is in he won't spare you. Pulls it nicely over mid-wicket, one bounce and into the fence she goes

Tom Curran, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

1
A Russell to Watson, 1 run, quick short one to end the over. Watson pulls that away but is a bit late in his shot, gets a top-edge that falls well short of the fielder at deep mid-wicket. Had Watto middled that, it might have been a catch for the man in the deep

A Russell to Rayudu, 1 run, only six of the over. Full in length and a tad slower in pace, Rayudu flicks it tamely to deep mid-wicket and gets a single, he'll retain strike with that

Vinay Kumar to Watson, FOUR, fine end to the over! Make that 16 runs off the opening over. Vinay Kumar conceded 14 runs in the previous match off the first over, concedes two extra in this one. It's a back of a length delivery outside off and all Watson does is simply punch it through the gap at cover-point. Into the gap and away to the fence she goes. Just the ideal start for CHN in this mammoth run chase
