Kolkata go up the ladder - now reach the third position. Chennai, with six wins, have struggled with the ball of late. They've certainly missed the services of Chahar. Jadeja's position will once again come under scanner. We'll have that debate another day. Tomorrow, Punjab host Mumbai. Do join us there. Until then, it's goodbye from Abhinand Raghavendran, Nikhil Jadhav, Sriram, Raju Peethala, Sagar Chawla, Varun and Harish.

Sunil Narine, Man of the Match: I'll stick to my bowling (when asked if he was a batting all-rounder or bowling all-rounder). That made me the cricketer I am today. Nice to come out with a win. Getting the freedom to play my shots, being free. That's the key. They back me whatever happens. He (DK) relies highly on spin. It's a total team effort. Seamers did the job early and we finished it off. Everyone takes their success differently. For me, it's to be as humble as possible,. I am enjoying my game with good performances.

Dinesh Karthik: Credit to the franchisee. They picked lot of under-19 players. They are really skilled players. It's little harsh on him (Gill). The number of times, he's been able to hit boundary off the first ball. That boy is special. I don't want to hype it up and put extra pressure on him. I can see a lot of years of India Blues in him. I picked it up early, that we can bowl a lot of spin on this wicket. Our bowlers are so confident. They wanted to bowl. You need to be pushing boundaries. He (Narine) is a thorough all-rounder. Provides impetus at the top and also bowled the pressure overs. He's a great player to have in the team.

MS Dhoni: If the wicket remained the same the total was decent, I felt this wicket was on the slower side but you have to hit the seam hard. When you are bowling the slower ball, if you can hit the seam then you can generate variable bounce. In the second half wicket became much better under the lights. The easy way is to compare the two balls after 20 overs. Second ball will be in the better shape. Ball was coming nicely under the lights. Overall disappointed with the loss, we need to do better than this in the bowling department. A few more runs would have helped. We knew the kind of fielding we will do after the team was picked. But what is more disappointing is guys are not aware on the field. Your speed might not be too much but you have to be attentive in the field. Classic example is Hussey, when he was playing for CHN he was not the quickest but he used to anticipate really well and that used to give him extra second. That is the kind of commitment needed in the field. If no one is bowling well, keep shuffling bowlers around. If no one does well, game will be over soon. We are slightly on and off in the field. Keeping it simple helps, I think bowlers need to vary their pace and you need to be aware of the strengths of the batsmen and accordingly you need to bowl. You can tell bowler a lot but when they have ball in the hand they are on their own.

Shubman Gill: Obviously I am pleased to have been promoted to number 4 today. We were just talking (Himself and DK) that we need to rotate the strike in the middle overs, it was crucial to see off the spinners. It was not really to target him (Asif), we played according to the merit - if the balls were there, we just went for it. KOL crowd is the best crowd, they always support us. It has been a really great experience so far and when you are coached by Kallis and Katich, you have so much to learn from them.

How easy was that? Kolkata have beaten the table-toppers (not now) with 14 balls to spare. That's quite a statement. Shubman Gill, promoted to No. 4, showed why he is rated so highly. The 18-year-old played a smart innings - picked his gaps, collected the singles and couples and went after the loose ones. All that with elegance. Remember? He dropped Dhoni in the first innings. That'd have been forgotten and forgiven. Chasing a target of 178, Lynn got out in the first over after hitting a couple of sixes. Narine was dropped twice by Jadeja in two balls and the West Indian added 26 more to his tally quickly. When Bhajji removed Rinku Singh in the 12th over, CHN would have eyed an opening. But, all that was put to rest by the teenager along with the KOL skipper. The pair scored 83 off 36 balls and took their team past the line comfortably.

Dwayne Bravo to Karthik, FOUR, Karthik hits the winning runs. Slower ball wide of off, Karthik throws his bat at it and slices it wide of backward point, who put in the dive. Runs away to the fence and that's it. KOL win by 6 wickets!
Dwayne Bravo to Karthik, FOUR, Karthik is just toying with the bowler. Well, Bravo hasn't been on target as well. Full toss on the pads, Karthik walks forward and flicks it over the square leg umpire's head
Dwayne Bravo to Karthik, wide, full and down the leg-side. Karthik misses his flick. Wided. KOL are a hit away
Dwayne Bravo to Karthik, 2 runs, length ball wide of off, Karthik opens his bat-face and forces it to deep point
Dwayne Bravo to Karthik, FOUR, bowls a low full toss on the pads from round the wicket. A hit-me delivery. Flicked away very fine. Watson doesn't bother to put a dive. Why would you do that, when you already know the result

Dwayne Bravo [1.0-0-7-0] is back into the attack

Just 13 needed now!

Lungi Ngidi to Karthik, 1 run, very full on the pads at 135.3kph, flicked to long leg
Lungi Ngidi to Shubman Gill, 1 run, 117.5kph, off-cutter on off and middle, tapped in front of cover for a sharp single
Lungi Ngidi to Shubman Gill, wide, short, down the leg-side and Gill will just ignore that
Lungi Ngidi to Karthik, 1 run, another off-pace delivery, 109.1kph, steered to third man
Lungi Ngidi to Shubman Gill, 1 run, slower ball at 118.2, short as well. Gill picks it and dabs it behind square on the off-side
Lungi Ngidi to Karthik, 1 run, shortish ball on off, Karthik hops and drops it towards point with soft hands
Lungi Ngidi to Karthik, FOUR, all too easy. Ngidi doles out a short ball down leg and Karthik just helps it on its way. Pulled away to fine leg for another boundary

Lungi Ngidi [2.0-0-26-1] is back into the attack

Time-out! 23 needed off 24 balls. Should be a cakewalk for the hosts.

Jadeja to Karthik, 1 run, fired on leg, nudged into the leg-side for a single
Jadeja to Karthik, FOUR, now DK tries the reverse sweep and manages to get some bat on it. Off the inside part, misses the batsman's pad and beats the short third man fielder too. The asking rate is below 6
Jadeja to Karthik, 2 runs, fired on middle and leg, swept fine. The fine leg fielder dives to his right and saves a couple
Jadeja to Shubman Gill, 1 run, quick ball from a shortened length, Gill is squared up by the turn. Takes the outside edge and dies down on the off-side. A single nabbed
Jadeja to Shubman Gill, FOUR, that's delicious. More air on this ball from Jadeja, Gill reaches out with a stride and gets to the pitch of the ball. Follows it up with a superb drive through extra cover
Jadeja to Shubman Gill, 2 runs, maiden T20 League fifty for Shubman Gill! His team-mates give him a standing ovation. He's played a beautiful innings. Gets to the milestone by driving a fullish ball wide of long-off

Ravindra Jadeja [3.0-0-25-1] is back into the attack

KM Asif to Karthik, SIX, 21 off the over and the asking rate has come down to 7.4. KOL are surely the favourites now. The inexperienced Asif bangs one short, but slightly errs in line. Leg-stumpish and Karthik takes heavy toll of it. Walks across and helps it along its way with a hook over fine leg
KM Asif to Shubman Gill, 1 run, now the sensible thing. Sees the ball on a good length and opens the bat-face to run it down to third man
KM Asif to Shubman Gill, SIX, excellent effort from Rayudu, gets a hand on it, but can only parry it over the cushions. Short ball on off, quick hands from Gill who upper-cuts it behind square. Rayudu sprints across to his right from third man and flew with his right hand out to pluck, in vain
KM Asif to Shubman Gill, 2 runs, now goes back in his crease and width has been served outside off. Cut hard to the right of third man
KM Asif to Shubman Gill, no run, cut hard, but straight to backward point
KM Asif to Shubman Gill, SIX, that's a stunning shot! That's gone a long way back. His highest score in T20 League. Picked the length (short) early, got into a good position on the back foot and muscled the pull over deep square leg. Right off the meat of the bat. Picked it up beautifully

KM Asif [2.0-0-11-1] is back into the attack

Karn Sharma to Shubman Gill, 1 run, shorter in length, whipped to deep square leg. Eleven off the over
Karn Sharma to Karthik, 1 run, flat and quick, another sweep from DK, finds the man at long leg
Karn Sharma to Karthik, FOUR, moves leg-side evn before the ball is delivered does Karthik and that would have distracted the bowler. Karn Sharma fires one well down the leg-side and that's easy pickings for the skipper. Stays low and sweeps wide of the man at 45
Karn Sharma to Karthik, 2 runs, good cricket. Leg-break on leg, Karthik knocks it towards mid-wicket with soft hands and hustles back for the second

Chants of 'KOL KOL' doing rounds

Karn Sharma to Shubman Gill, 1 run, Gill backs away and Sharma follows him. Gets a tickle on his glance and the ball rolls towards backward square leg. Just a single
Karn Sharma to Shubman Gill, 2 runs, in-drifting full ball on middle and leg, driven off the inside part of the bat to mid-wicket. Between long-on and deep mid-wicket, so they come back for the second
