commentary

That's it from this one. The second match is almost underway. Join us there. This is Sagar Chawla signing off with Akshay Maanay, Nikhil Jadhav, Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Vineet Anantharaman and our scorer Shashikant Singh.

Ambati Rayudu is Man of the Match

Dhoni, CHN captain: Won't say what we were talking about (chat with Bravo before the last ball), wanted him to change his plan. At times even the best - Bravo - need a bit of advice. That's what they're paid for. What's important is you make mistakes and learn. In league stages you can afford to do that. Where we are at this point, a few mistakes won't dent us. Bowlers will learn out of it. Wickets have gone better. If you compare it to the first few editions of the T20 League, these wickets are very good batting surfaces. Need to give credit to the batsmen. They're getting stronger. They're making plans as to which bowler bowls what. As we get into the knockout stages, we'll see the bowlers coming up with new plans and it won't be easy for the batsmen to score the kind of runs they're scoring so far. What's important is to give them - the younger bowlers - as many games as possible. Deepak swings the ball and lends balance with his batting down the order. Shardul had a few bad games. Last international series wasn't good for him. But he has the right attitude and also the variations. Rayudu was fantastic. One thing was where to make him play. Had to make space for him because I've always rated him highly. I've seen him bat up the order, he looks confident. Whenever he hits the big shots, he maintains the shape. He's somebody who can bat at different numbers. But I prefer him opening the batting.

Stat this: 182 is the lowest total successfully defended this season (full 20 overs games)

19:37 Local Time, 14:07 GMT, 19:37 IST: Some more dance moves from Bravo. The CHN supporters - and there are plenty of them today - are jumping in the stands. This was close. No idea how it got close, but geez it got close. HYD looked to be out of it up until the 14th over mark. But 6 sixes in the space of 14 balls and all of a sudden the pressure was on the Chennai. However, when the situation demanded it, CHN - led by Bravo - stepped up their yorker game towards the end to reign things back, hanging on by the skin of their teeth at the finish. Williamson can be very proud of his own self though. That was some knock. Pathan was brutal too, but they ran out of gas a little too prematurely.

19.6
1
Dwayne Bravo to Rashid Khan, 1 run, champion stuff from Bravo, holds his nerve and sends down a smashing yorker. No way Rashid is hitting that for six. CHN have just about hung on by four runs
19.5
4
Dwayne Bravo to Rashid Khan, FOUR, they're still in this. Quite unbelievable. Full length ball outside off, Rashid swings for the rafters and sends a thick edge flying past short third man

Two balls, 10 needed. Right up Rashid's alley - the way he's going. Long chat between Dhoni and Bravo

19.4
6
Dwayne Bravo to Rashid Khan, SIX, this is a length ball and it has disappeared. Drama. Two sixes in two balls from Rashid. He's striking it at 600. Swivels across and heaves it away over deep backward square
19.3
1
Dwayne Bravo to Saha, 1 run, walks out to a full toss and swings it past short fine leg. But it's close enough for deep backward square to be able to cut it off. What an over so far
19.2
2
Dwayne Bravo to Saha, 2 runs, now he uses his feet to counter the yorker, takes it on the full and drives straight to cover. Should have been just one, but the pressure gets to Thakur. His fumble allows the second
19.1

Dwayne Bravo to Saha, no run, brilliant, just brilliant. Another yorker from Bravo, goes right through Saha outside off

Bravo has the responsibility.

18.6
6
SN Thakur to Rashid Khan, SIX, whacked down the ground for six. First ball Rashid faces, he leans back and pummels the slower ball. Brings the equation down to 19 needed off the final over. The way this game has gone, don't rule it out
18.5
1
SN Thakur to Saha, 1 run, slower ball, back of length outside off, Saha swings it to deep mid-wicket

Rashid Khan, right handed bat, comes to the crease

SN Thakur to Y Pathan, out Caught by Raina!! Sliced up in the air, and that should be it. Raina isn't dropping that at extra cover. It's the knuckle ball in action again, Pathan swings hard at this length delivery but it comes right off the outside half. He immediately hangs his head. HYD running out of gas. Y Pathan c Raina b SN Thakur 45(27) [4s-1 6s-4]

SN Thakur to Y Pathan, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

18.3

SN Thakur to Y Pathan, no run, full toss again, but this one's pretty wide of off. In his bid to reach out for it, Pathan loses his timing. Tamely bunted back down the pitch
18.2
6
SN Thakur to Y Pathan, SIX, oh what a horrible delivery. Delicious full toss on off stump, Pathan gobbles it up as he whiplashes it over the mid-wicket boundary. Keeps HYD afloat
18.1
1
SN Thakur to Saha, 1 run, length ball wide of off, driven off the toe-end down to long-off

Wriddhiman Saha, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Dwayne Bravo to Williamson, out Caught by Jadeja!! Taken. Taken, taken, taken. It's a brilliant catch from Jadeja, sprinting forward from long-on and diving in front with two hands. Oh Williamson. He's done in by this slower ball. Back of length from Bravo, the ball stops on Williamson who miscues his flat-batted swipe off the splice. Bravo shows off with his dance moves. CHN will back themselves from here. Williamson c Jadeja b Dwayne Bravo 84(51) [4s-5 6s-5]

Dwayne Bravo to Williamson, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

CHN have really stepped up their yorker game in the last couple of overs. Asking rate jumps over 15 again

1
Dwayne Bravo to Y Pathan, 1 run, another yorker, Pathan squeezes it into the on-side
17.4
2
Dwayne Bravo to Y Pathan, 2 runs, short of length delivery outside off, Pathan with a flat-batted biff down the ground. Didn't get it all that well, but managed to place it to the left of long-on. Hobbles back for the second

Stoppage in play again as the physio looks at Pathan

17.3
2
Dwayne Bravo to Y Pathan, 2 runs, Dhoni flicks it back onto the stumps, but Pathan has dived into the crease and is home comfortably. His body in some discomfort though. Pretty good yorker from Bravo again, Pathan skewed it off a thick inside edge and almost short fine leg before the fielder dived and parried it towards deep backward square. The throw was wide of the stumps, which allowed Pathan to get back in time
17.2

Dwayne Bravo to Y Pathan, no run, nails the blockhole outside off, Pathan digs it out
17.1
4
Dwayne Bravo to Y Pathan, FOUR, very wide on the crease goes Bravo, but he loses his line. He strays this short of length delivery right into Pathan's chest. There's no fine leg in place, or if there is, it's not fine. Pathan helps this pull into the ropes
16.6

SN Thakur to Williamson, no run, another excellent yorker to finish the over, it was outside off and Williamson wanted to slice it down to third man but couldn't lay bat on it. He got four yorkers right in the over, which is a decent percentage. But geez that should have been a no-ball off the second ball
16.5
0
SN Thakur to Williamson, no run, anticipates the yorker and walks across for a paddle. But Thakur follows him and hits Williamson on the pad
16.4
1
SN Thakur to Y Pathan, 1 run, good response from Thakur, yorker outside off. Pathan digs it into the off-side for one
16.3
6
SN Thakur to Y Pathan, SIX, free-hit or not, Pathan doesn't care. He smokes this full toss over long-on. He is starting to middle these now, nice and clean
16.2
1
SN Thakur to Williamson, 1 run, very high full toss, Williamson limply swings it away through square leg. Williamson is completely baffled it wasn't given as a no-ball. Clearly over the waist with the replays coming in
16.1
2
SN Thakur to Williamson, 2 runs, brilliant yorker outside off from Thakur, but look at Williamson charge back for the second run. Point was completely vacant and Williamson squeezed the ball right through there

Shardul Thakur [2.0-0-21-0] is back into the attack

A very concerned Stephen Fleming charges out to have a chat as we have the final time-out! This match has all of a sudden sprung to life. How? What is happening?

15.6
6
Dwayne Bravo to Y Pathan, SIX, bludgeoned! He gets absolutely stuck into this slower ball and mows it over cow corner. Wow. Bravo goes for 14 in his first over
15.5
0
Dwayne Bravo to Y Pathan, no run, slower ball wide of off, doesn't rise up as much as Pathan wants and it sneaks under his slog-sweep
15.4
6
Dwayne Bravo to Y Pathan, SIX, deep into the crease to be able to get under the ball, and get under the ball he does. Pathan has launched this over long-off. Boy have HYD come roaring back
