Pandya to Rahane, FOUR, we saw a back foot punch from Rohit earlier, this was a Rahane delight. Stood onto his toes and caressed it off the back foot to take it from the in-field. The man from long-off - Pollard made a lot of ground before unleashing the dive but unfortunately could not stop it

4

to Tripathi, leg byes, FOUR, poor delivery down onto the pads, tickled away fine as the pads make contact. PUNE will take anything and everything here

W

to Tripathi, out Lbw!! Big call from the umpire. Tripathi clearly isn't pleased with the decision. Impact is clearly pad-first, there's no doubt about that. But he's playing forward to a length ball which kicks off the deck and hits him around the knee-roll. Ball tracking shows it to be going over the sticks. The crowd gets a little worked up as replays appear on the big screen. None of it matters now, Tripathi has to go. Tripathi lbw b 3(8)

D

to Rahane, no run, done in by the slower ball .. and dropped. Krunal Pandya of all people. That's a sitter at short extra-cover. Just that Krunal is indecisive whether to go with fingers pointing up or down. Slower back of a length delivery outside off, Rahane doesn't see it and is early into the shot. All he does is bunt it in the air. Krunal jumps up - which he didn't need to do had he gone with fingers pointing up. His arms are too cramped around the chest, and the ball pops out

4

Sharma to Rahane, FOUR, sublime wrists from Rahane. Look at the power he's able to generate. Beats Pollard in the deep. dropping the ball short again, Rahane goes back and whips it into the on-side, splitting mid-on and deep mid-wicket

4

to Rahane, FOUR, terrific shot. That raced off his blade. Full outside off, may have been another slower ball, and Rahane laces it through the cover region with a sizzling front foot drive

4

to Rahane, FOUR, the previous ball, Rahane had to fetch the pull from outside off. This time, hands it to him on a platter with a short ball down the leg-side. All Rahane has to do is to help it along, and he does so beautifully. Nearly carries all the way

4

Pandya to Rahane, FOUR, one-handed inertia from Simmons at long leg. Or oodles of it. A ball drifting down, swept and Simmons overruns the ball, tries to adjust and grab one-handed but falls over, and misses. That Mumbai's night, of Pandya's drop wasn't one

4

to Smith, FOUR, have you seen a cricket ball smuggled away? This was it. Width, yes, but Smith slashes behind backward point, and in front of third man. Precision. Woah. Frame it right away

W

to Rahane, out Caught by Pollard!! and Pollard twin together to do it. What do we have in store, what? A slowish full ball that angles in here, Rahane is a touch early and ends up chipping it towards long-on. It might not carry actually.. but hey, look at Pollard. He's judged the trajectory well, ran in and put a head-first dive to seal the catch inches above the ground. Time for MS Dhoni.. Rahane c Pollard b 44(38) [4s-5]

4

Pandya to Dhoni, FOUR, through backward point. Makes room and makes this shot. Cuts and glides it to the left of the fielder's dive. Nicely done

6

Pandya to Smith, SIX, nobody likes a moving target more than Arjuna. Not Pandya here. Definitely not! Smith shuffles across, reverses his stance and bludgeons this over point. And it carries.. and is still carrying. Woah, that's power. When did Smith last play that shot? Probably never. Never seen him play that but he's making up for Warner well at Hyderabad, isn't he?

W

to Dhoni, out Caught by Parthiv Patel!! Dhoni won't do it for Pune. He's edged one to the keeper. There's no room outside off on this length ball, which is not there to be cut away. Dhoni tries to steer it away, with lots of bottom hand, but all he does is lop it straight back to the keeper. So much power that it carries behind at a good height on this sloth of a pitch. This isn't over, fellas. Dhoni c Parthiv Patel b 10(13) [4s-1]

4

to Smith, FOUR, that's brave. Very brave. Smith has shuffled across, opening his stance and waiting for this full, dipping ball on leg-stump. And he connects. Woah. Whips it through backward square, uppishly, and nails home a boundary!

6

to Smith, SIX, perhaps one that seals it. 13 off 7 now. The glory hit this will be in hindsight. Gets a length ball and lays into it. Marauds it over long-off in a way that can set your corneas on fire. Absolute class

OT

to Smith, 2 runs, a high full toss that's been scooped round the corner. Gets to the fifty in style, which is the slowest this T20 League. And what a time to get there. Great players and their ways.. Wanted it given as no-ball for height, but it wasn't one. Dipping on Smith

4

to Manoj Tiwary, FOUR, talk about giving the strike back to Smith. He has a boundary here! Shuffles across so so early, reads the length and then sweeps it against the angle from over the wicket. Lovely shot. Through backward square leg.. 7 off 5. This eases things

W

to Manoj Tiwary, out Caught by Pollard!! What have you done, Manoj Tiwary? Makes room down leg for the cutter but is just a touch early. Pops it straight to Pollard at long-on. For Mumbai, it's a dot ball. For Pune, Smith is back on strike. Almost a win-win, if you want to look at it that way. 4 balls to the end of the season and we still don't know the winner. Manoj Tiwary c Pollard b 7(8) [4s-1]

W

to Smith, out Caught by Rayudu!! My heart's having ventricular contractions. Smith has just about given it away, you'd have to say. Mumbai get together, MJ roars and Mumbai the favourites here. This is a lovely shot by Smith but he's picked the only fielder there. Sweeper cover. Rayudu takes it reverse-cup and roars. Had to. Now Smith made room to this very full ball on off-stump, which was bowled from round the wicket.. Driven inside-out, so so elegantly but picks the fielder in the deep, walks back disappointed and gets on a hat-trick! Smith c Rayudu b 51(50) [4s-2 6s-2]

OT

to Washington Sundar, byes, 1 run, misses the hat-trick, but only just. Inswinging yorker outside off, that could have easily taken the inside edge and rattled the stumps. Doesn't. 6 needed off 2

D

to Christian, 2 runs, now he's tried to go with the angle on this very full ball from round the wicket. Dragged off the inside edge, dropped by Hardik Pandya at deep mid-wicket. Fumbles as he tries to get himself leaning forward to take that and drops. And what's worse, it's allowed two runs. 4 to win off 1

W

to Christian, out Dan Christian Run Out!! 2 runs completed. Mumbai romp home their third T20 League win. What a game. A final that's been nailed home by a run, can you believe? Rohit runs as Suchith misfields at deep mid-wicket. Fumbles, almost allowing a super over with the batsmen into the third run already.. but recovers just in time and parries a throw to the keeper. Patel takes the bails off, lights the stumps. There's confusion as to who is run-out. Sundar was heading to the keeper's end. However, Christian had not crossed over when the bails were broken, so he will be run-out. Mumbai get into a huddle! T20 League finale is done, fellas. Dan Christian run out (J Suchith/Parthiv Patel) 4(2)

W

to Parthiv Patel, out Caught by SN Thakur!! The early pressure has resulted in the fall of Parthiv. This was a back of a length delivery on the stumps, it was the slower one as well. Parthiv was in no position on the pull, went high off the bat and lobbed towards Shardul at mid-on. He runs forward and accepts the catch gleefully. Just the start PUNE wanted - they have been on the dot and created the pressure on the batsmen. Parthiv Patel c SN Thakur b 4(6)

W

to Simmons, out Caught&Bowled!! 'Phenomenal catch', says Matthew Hayden on air. That's a catch that might well tilt this final towards PUNE. is having a ball at the moment, this was another slower ball, he rolled his fingers across the seam. Simmons was looking to nudge it towards the on-side, was through with the shot even before it arrived, gets a thick leading edge that popped back towards the bowler. was on his followthrough, pushes his left hand across - it was dropping down on him, he bends down really low and completes a fine one-handed catch. The momentum was always going across him, but he held on - even as his elbow hit the ground. Mobbed by his mates, rightly so. Simmons c and b 3(8)

4

Ferguson to Rohit, FOUR, first boundary of the final, Ferguson offers a freebie, it was a half-volley outside off. Rohit waits on it, opens the face of the bat at the last moment and squeezes it behind square on the off-side, beats backward point and rolls away to the fence

4

Ferguson to Rohit, FOUR, Ferguson is relieving some pressure off Rohit and MUM. Length ball on his pads, Rohit gleefully puts it away behind square on the on-side. It went in the air - but well wide of Unadkat at short fine

4

Ferguson to Rohit, FOUR, edged and four, streaky but Rohit will take it. On a good length and holding its line outside off, Rohit was looking to drive, the late wobble takes the edge and rolls away through the vacant slip region

4

Ferguson to Rohit, FOUR, classy, shot of ther final so far - on a good length and well wide of off. Rohit stands tall and drives it on the up - splits the gap between cover and cover-point, no need to run for those. 16 from the over and Ravi Shastri notes that MUM have doubled their score

4

to Rayudu, FOUR, poor ball from , dropped it short and wide of off, Rayudu waits on it and cuts it hard, beats backward point to his left and rolls away to the fence

W

Ferguson to Rayudu, out Rayudu Run Out!! Excellent cricket from the PUNE captain and MUM have lost their third wicket. Coming to the ball, it was full and just outside off, Rayudu came down the track, made room and drove it towards mid-off. There was a single there - at least Rayudu thought as he called for a quick single. Smith moved across to his left, turned around and broke the stumps at the bowler's end - all in one motion. Rayudu was scrambling across, but falls well short. Rayudu run out (Smith) 12(15) [4s-1]

4

Sundar to Krunal Pandya, FOUR, in the airrrr, in the gap and a poor effort from Dan Christian meant the ball escaped for four. He had to dive, thought about it, but took a long while to react. Sundar bowls full and outside off stump, Krunal lofts the drive inside-out, could have been cut off by the man running from long-off

W

to Rohit, out Caught by SN Thakur!! What a moment in the game. Look at the celebrations in the PUNE camp. They reckon they've pocketed the game. Rohit is livid with himself. Swings his bat hard in disappointment. He knows that he's hit a long hop to the fielder. Short and on the stumps, Rohit went back, lost balance while playing the pull shot, didn't middle it, Thakur jumped at deep mid-wicket and took the catch. The momentum was taking him back, took a couple of steps back, just managed to stay away from the rope and the third impire was convinced he didn't touch the boundary. Rohit c SN Thakur b 24(22) [4s-4]

6

to Pollard, SIX, wowww! What a start. This is the very venue where Pollard grabbed eyeballs during a champions league T20 game against New South Wales back in 2009. Looks like he's going to counterattack. Flighted delivery outside off stump, Pollard muscles it high over long-off

W

to Pollard, out Caught by Manoj Tiwary!! Is there MS Dhoni's mind behind this dismissal? CHN fans would know. In 2010, he had a straightish mid-off to dismiss the dangerous Pollard in the final. Now PUNE got a very straight long-off - a field placement you normally don't see in cricket - and Pollard hits it straight to him. This was full and in the slot from , Pollard was in the mood to murder the ball, he went hard, hit it flat and hard, but little did he know that he fell in the trap. It's 65 for 5 now. Pollard c Manoj Tiwary b 7(3) [6s-1]

6

to Hardik Pandya, SIX, what a hit from the younger Pandya. Flighted delivery outside off stump, Hardik doesn't try to over-hit the ball, just lofts inside out over long-off and timed it sweetly enough to clear the rope

W

to Hardik Pandya, out Lbw!! People were talking about slower balls, spinners doing the damage, but this bloke has run in, bowled fast and found reverse swing to trap Hardik plumb in front. A great choice of delivery with Hardik walking across the stumps. Credit to the bowler if it was a deliberate ploy to opt for the full pace delivery. This was on a good length, tailed back in, batsman played across the line and the impact was right in front of middle stump. Would have at least clipped the top of middle and off. Hardik Pandya lbw b 10(9) [6s-1]

W

Thakur to Karn Sharma, out Karn Sharma Run Out!! Dropped, but Karn Sharma is run-out. An absolute pandemonium out there. Who would have thought that a team that played so well and topped the league stage would find themselves at 79 for 7 in the 15th over of the final. And that too after opting to bat first. Rohit Sharma can't watch from the sidelines. Coming to the delivery, this one swung away from the left-hander, Karn got a thick outside edge which went low to Christian's left at first slip. He couldn't hold on, meanwhile Karn thought of stealing a run, his partner wa't sure and in the end he was stranded in the middle of the pitch. Great presence of mind from the bowler to run towards the striker's end and effect the run-out. Karn Sharma run out (Christian/ Thakur) 1(5)

6

to Johnson, SIX, that has been flat-batted with a lot of sinewy power! The short ball angled across and Johnson thwarted it down the ground despite not connecting it with the meat of the bat

OT

to Johnson, byes, 1 run, looks for the deft upper cut and misses. The ball lands on a couple of bounces to the keeper, who fumbles to allow the single. The man at short third man mopped it up and had a shy at the bowler's end. Had there been a direct hit, it would have been another casualty

4

to Krunal Pandya, FOUR, length ball, no room, Krunal Pandya opens his arms and carves it away past point. The man at sweeper cover dived to make the tackle but in vain

6

to Krunal Pandya, SIX, the slower ball disappears now! He held his stroke back a bit, the ball chalked the toe-end of the bat and landed well over the cow-corner for a towering, welcoming six for MUM

4

to Krunal Pandya, FOUR, full on the sticks, nothing really wrong with the ball. But Krunal Pandya moved across his line and slogged the ball away to the deep mid region for a four. Krunal is getting some momentum for MUM

6

to Krunal Pandya, SIX, Krunal Pandya is tonking them big now. That was a length ball, full and wide, Krunal Pandya smacks it down the ground with one knee on the ground. That sailed over long-on pretty easily

OT

to Johnson, 1 run, the partnership between Johnson and Krunal Pandya is now 50!! Short ball, pulled away and the ball lands on the bounce to be picked up by Rahane at deep mid

W

to Krunal Pandya, out Caught by Rahane!! No such luck for Pandya. The short ball is banged in slow. The batsman tried to fetch it from outside off and only manages to sky it up in the air. The man from deep mid - Rahane charges in and takes it easily. Pune need 130 to win! Krunal Pandya c Rahane b 47(38) [4s-3 6s-2]
