Sharma to Gayle, out Caught by Guptill!! Had to happen. If you read the last delivery's description, you would know. Didn't use his feet to a fullish ball, so he shimmies out this time to compensate. The length's been nicely shortened by Sharma, and also gets it to move away. The result: Gayle is down the track and slices an outside edge to gully -- yes, there was one, for Gayle. Comeback done and dusted. Gayle c Guptill b Sharma 0(2)

4

Sharma to Kohli, FOUR, first ball. Shuffles and kills the inswing with a whippy clip, embarrassing us for all the bottom hand strength we don't have. Plays it real fine behind the wicket and gets a first-ball boundary to get off the mark

6

Naarajan o Mandeep, SIX, gosh, no! A shor ball down leg and Mandeep had helped he pull over fine leg wih uer nonchalance. And given how slow his pich is, bouncers aren' exacly hemselves. hey are friends

4

Naarajan o Mandeep, FOUR, his was half a cu a bes. Jabbed he ball hrough covers. Naarajan angles his away, Singh says pu and caresses i away

4

Naarajan o Mandeep, FOUR, inside edge runs away. Had o shuffle here o ge behind his ball angled away. Insead says here and looks o fech i, geing an inside edge much o keeper's lef in he process

W

Sharma to Kohli, out Bowled!! Go , make a GIF out of this and retire. Virat Kohli's been done. Sees Kohli shimmy out and still keeps it straight at the stumps. Kohli overruns, letting the ball sneak through and timbah. The trick was that Sharma stuck to a normal pace delivery. Kohli would have connected had it been a slower one. Wasn't and bam, Kohli is gone. Kohli b Sharma 6(6) [4s-1]

4

to Mandeep, FOUR, hence proven: Guptill has spring in his shoes. Hey , are you watching? Cut but it's more off the edge, thanks to the bounce, and Guptill has almost gotten to it at backward point. Well almost. My commentary has been adulterated by my fanboyism, so maybe. But he really jumped there, and tumbling as he fell on the ground. Good to watch but Mandeep gets four runs here

4

Sharma to de Villiers, FOUR, goes full this ball and that's been smacked delightly, delicately through the other side of the wicket -- is from over the wicket to AB here. Takes the ball on the up and disparages it away

6

Sharma to de Villiers, SIX, umm, you aren't a cricket binge-watcher if you didn't see this coming. Dropped short, and AB has smacked it into the oblivion. Over deep mid-wicket. You would envy how early AB sees things, cricket lengths here. Got into the position beautifully and swatted it away

W

Sharma to de Villiers, out Caught by Saha!! Sharma has Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers off consecutive overs. Now that's something to roast others about, in your white picket-fenced villa that you buy from your T20 League contract. So, coming back to reality, AB was shimmying out of his crease, high on confidence of bullying the last ball for a six. What does is to keep it full but just about adjusts the line to something further outside off. AB gets an edge on the charge and the keeper does so well to anticipate it all and move to his right to pouch that. Big wicket, BLR stuttering. de Villiers c Saha b Sharma 10(6) [4s-1 6s-1]

4

to Mandeep, FOUR, good shot. Sees the length short and pulls it up and over the infield. Clears it easily for a boundary

4

to Kedar Jadhav, FOUR, what he's done here is ruled out Guptill at backward point. Hit it over him, and wide of him. Short and wide, talls up and cuts it ferociously. Powerplay done: 46 for 3

W

Sharma to Kedar Jadhav, out Caught by Axar!! That's just playing with the length. And his knuckles, maybe. Clocks 134ks but gets the ball to hold in the pitch, as Kedar charges out in ambition. Tries to check his shot but ends up slicing it off the splice to short cover. Kedar wanted to go leg-side, and go big, but was hoaxed by the ball never arriving at all. Where are we headed? More importantly, where are BLR? Kedar Jadhav c Axar b Sharma 6(6) [4s-1]

4

Sharma to Mandeep, FOUR, to be a cutter or to not be a cutter, that isn't the question. This was wide, and it's been cut away through backward point. Life's simple

6

Sharma to Mandeep, SIX, clobbered over mid-wicket. Stays put, and waits for the ball to arrive, before laying into a delicate bat-swing over cow corner

W

to Watson, out Caught by Saha!! This is the fifth time Patel has dismissed Watto in T20 League, the most he has dismissed any batsman. Just wow! A quicker flatter dart outside off, from Jaddu's book you would think. Watson goes deep inside the crease to flay it square, feeds the faintest of nicks to the keeper. Watson c Saha b 3(6)

W

to Mandeep, out Bowled!! Maxi roars. BLR fans are absolutely shattered. One guy has ran out of expressions, he just tweaks his hair while giving THAT WHAT.THE.____ expression! Oh boy! Things going bad to worse for BLR. No real turn, just stump-to-stump channel and fired it flat, Mandeep rocks back to pull, a big swish across the line. Misses by a long way and the middle pole takes the pasting. Mandeep b 46(40) [4s-5 6s-2]

4

to Negi, FOUR, skates down the pitch, stays leg-side of the delivery and carves Varun over extra cover. The batsman in Negi speaks...

W

to Aravind, out Lbw!! Maxi is having fun out there. He is picking wickets like the way he knocks the switch-hits. 7 down now. Aravind crouches and looks to sweep Maxi through square leg, doesn't pick the line, neither the length. Strikes him low around off and that's smashing into middle. Aravind lbw b 4(6)

4

to Negi, FOUR, full and wide, Negi twitches his back knee and throws the kitchen sink, a big-blooded edge flies away to the third man fence

4

to Negi, leg byes, FOUR, the rib-tickler. With fine leg inside the ring, not sure if that's a great idea. Negi hops and misses the tickle, the slow-low nature of the pitch means it shoots a bit low to take the thigh pad en route to fine leg fancy boards

W

to Negi, out Caught by Saha!! Three fielders converge for the catch and Saha pouches it safely. Not before a bit of collision though. Natarajan aborted himself at the last second and evaded the dash, but Aaron and Saha didn't. In the end, Saha accepts while gliding into Varun Aaron who was running from backward point. It was a pull that never took off, off the splice of the bat. And then all the drama Negi c Saha b 21(23) [4s-2]

W

to Badree, out Bowled!! Knocked him over! Down on one knee looking to thump into MG Road. You miss I hit. Knocks the head of off peg. Badree b 8(9)

W

Sharma to Aniket Choudhary, out Caught by Guptill!! That's the final nail in the coffin. This is the lowest ever total defended at this venue. PUN needed to win this badly and they did so with great ease. Fast bowler to fast bolwer. Result? He slaps hard and picks out Guptill at mid-off. Had only so much power. Alas! Aniket Choudhary c Guptill b Sharma 4(6)

W

Choudhary to Amla, out Caught by Kedar Jadhav!! Clear nick, no appeal from the bowler, even the keeper didn't hear the edge, but Amla walks. Well done sir! It's been short of length from all over, this time he bowls it slightly wide outside off stump than the previous ones, Amla throws his hands at it to cut it away for four but gets a faint edge. Not sure if the umpire heard that nick too. Would have been interesting if Amla had not walked. Just the start PUN didn't want in a crunch game. Amla c Kedar Jadhav b Choudhary 1(3)

4

to Guptill, FOUR, this is one ground that he can make it big if he gets his eye in. The boundaries are short and even mishits can go all the way. bowled a fuller length and just outside off stump, Guptill lofted it over cover, didn't come from the middle of the bat, but good enough for a one-bounce four

4

to Shaun Marsh, FOUR, wow! Lovely piece of timing. bowls full in search of swing, it did swing away a touch, but Marsh was nicely forward to cream the cover drive from the middle of the bat

W

to Guptill, out Caught by Negi!! This was coming. All Kohli needed to do was have a man at sweeper cover. It's very difficult for a right-handed batsman to middle the ball against the away-going ball from a left-handed bowler on a slowish pitch when he is trying to loft on the off-side. Guptill wanted to go over mid-off, but lack of pace on the ball meant the bat turned in his hands on impact with the ball. Ended up slicing it and it's a simple grab for Negi. Credit to for bowling the slower ball. This is a very sluggish start from PUN. 18/2 and we are into the fourth over. Guptill c Negi b 9(10) [4s-1]

4

to Shaun Marsh, FOUR, gee, how quickly did that reach the fence? bowls a gentle full ball outside off stump, Marsh crashes it through cover and picks up a boundary

4

to Shaun Marsh, FOUR, that's lovely placement. No one at third man, he was actually inside the ring, so any width from the bowler is going to be easy, Marsh opened the bat face and nicely guided it past the man at 45

4

to Vohra, FOUR, oh this one kept low and it's very unlucky for the bowler that the ball has gone for four despite taking the inside edge of the bat. This was the slider on the shorter side, Vohra went back to pull, the ball didn't rise, went off the inner part and split short fine leg and backward square leg to perfection

W

to Shaun Marsh, out Caught by Mandeep!! has got a big wicket and PUN's team owner Preity Zinta is not happy in the stands. On a slowish pitch, a set batsman has to carry on, but in trying to up the ante and with the thought of taking on the left-arm spinner, Marsh has holed out. It's 39 for 3 and the visitors are in deep trouble. Clever bowling from . He knew that anything full and on the stumps would make it easy for Marsh to target mid-wicket, he bowled this full and wide outside off stump, forced Marsh to fetch and it's a mistimed hit to long-off. Shaun Marsh c Mandeep b 20(17) [4s-3]

6

to Vohra, SIX, he's a good striker of the cricket ball and erred in his length. Too full and allowed the batsman to get under the ball, Vohra was down on one knee to smash it over the leaping long-on fielder

W

to Vohra, out Caught by de Villiers!! Something had to give and it is a wicket. The sea of red flags flutter around the Chinnaswamy. Another set batsmen doesn't bat through the innings. Nice loop on this leggie, Vohra's eyes lit up and he went to send it into the second tier, cleared his front leg to heave and mistimed it towards long-on. The ball hung in the air for a long time before AB reverse cupped it calmly. Vohra c de Villiers b 25(28) [4s-1 6s-1]

4

to Maxwell, FOUR, was that a drop? is not a happy man. The reverse sweep from Maxi and he almost picked out backward point. Aniket is a tall man and he did get a fingertip on it. It was struck fiercely and Aniket did not have much time to react

4

to Maxwell, byes, FOUR, what was Kedar Jadhav doing? Maxwell was beaten all ends up, tees off for a big mow to the leg-side, the ball goes on straight to beat him on the inside edge. Jadhav didn't even try to get his gloves behind the ball

4

to Maxwell, byes, FOUR, Kedar Jadhav is having a torrid time behind the wicket. Flighted just outside off, Maxwell drives and misses, he was undone by the lack of bounce and Jadhav is nutmegged. He should have had his legs together

W

to Maxwell, out Caught by Badree!! Oh no! Maxwell has been caught but the umpire is checking for a no-ball. It is touch and go. GO it is for Maxwell. Looked really close and the benefit of doubt has gone to the bowler on this occasion. Nicely tossed up delivery and Maxwell brings out the switch-hit. The top edge skies towards short third man, it was a tough one and the experienced Samuel Badree pouches it and puffs his cheeks. He knew it was a steepler and needed to his eyes on the ball till the last second. Maxwell c Badree b 6(11) [4s-1]

6

to Axar, SIX, floated up on a fuller length and Axar says thank you very much. A much needed six for PUN. Axar plonks his front foot forward and hammers the loft with the turn over long-on

4

to Axar, FOUR, good batting from Axar. A no risk shot this. Waited for the ball to arrive, used whatever pace was available and steered it fine, Badree had no chance at short third man

4

Choudhary to Saha, FOUR, Gayle at backward point and Badree at third man, you don't expect them to chase a ball down. Slower delivery and Saha relied on placing it behind point rather than knocking the cover off the ball. No chance for both the fielders

W

to Saha, out Bowled!! Third batsman out in the 20s. has a wicket and has his finger up in delight. Wicket-to-wicket stuff from Watto, Saha made room to glide it behind point, was beaten for pace and the ball kissed the off-pole. Crucial wicket for the home side as Saha was looking to get on with proceedings. The off-cutter that skidded off the surface. Saha b 21(25) [4s-1]

4

to Mohit Sharma, FOUR, bad delivery and deserved the treatment. Short and wide, Mohit threw the whole kitchen sink at that, sliced it off the outside edge to third man, got it fine enough and beat Aravind to the fence

W

Choudhary to Mohit Sharma, out Caught by Kedar Jadhav!! This time Kedar Jadhav appealed and so did , the umpire obliges to their plea. Nothing but a short of length delivery angled across the right-hander, Mohit pulled and got an under edge to the keeper. Mohit Sharma c Kedar Jadhav b Choudhary 6(4) [4s-1]

6

to Axar, SIX, massive hit! Makes a dent on the ad hoardings on the roof. Right in the arc - length delivery and outside off, Axar clears his front leg and heaves it all the way over long-on. Needs to play all the six balls

4

to Axar, FOUR, Axar seems to be having no problems on a surface where others have struggled. Short delivery on leg-stump, Axar pivots on his front leg and pulls it backward of square, couple of bounces and into the fence. 12 off the first three balls

4

to Axar, FOUR, turning out to be just the over PUN needed. Kohli is furious at long-off. Kicks the ball back onto the ad boardings. Pitched up and Axar slams it straight down the ground. No chance for Kohli at long-off
