4

to Parthiv Patel, FOUR, poor delivery from to follow-up. Short, wide and Parthiv is right on top of it, cracks the cut behind square and third man was only picking it up from the rope. MUM are off and running

4

to Buttler, FOUR, inswinger which is slightly off target and Buttler puts it away with ease. Full and swinging into the pads, flicked through mid-wicket to open his account. Not a muscle moved

4

to Parthiv Patel, FOUR, a shot that should make him feel better. errs in his length slight and that is enough for Parthiv to punish him, driven beautifully wide of mid-off and the ball raced away to the fence

OT

to Parthiv Patel, 1 run, direct hit and Parthiv was running back. Finally he connects with one of his heaves, not middled though and finds Yusuf at mid-wicket. The shy is at the bowler's end and it is way off target

6

to Buttler, SIX, Buttler clearly has the wood on his England team mates. Stokes in the first game and now . A little shuffle and a crouch down to scoop this length delivery over short fine. The connection was such that it travelled the distance

4

to Parthiv Patel, FOUR, rank long hop to start 's spell, Parthiv picked the bones out of the pull shot, rocks back and nails it wide of the mid-wicket fielder. No need to run for those

OT

to Buttler, 2 runs, the new opening combo for MUM has registered a 50-run stand in only their second game together. Buttler works it away with the spin wide of long-on and the second was on

6

to Buttler, SIX, Buttler surely picked that from . It was the off-spinner and he played it with the turn, plants his foot across and whips it over the cow corner fence for a maximum. This was more timing than power from the Englishman

6

Yadav to Parthiv Patel, SIX, finally Parthiv connects with one and sends it into the crowd. Floated up just outside off, Parthiv sinks to one knee and slog sweeps it over deep mid-wicket. GG certainly didn't like it

W

Yadav to Parthiv Patel, out Lbw!! can't be kept quiet for too long these days. He provides the first breakthrough for KOL and ends Parthiv's hit-and-miss innings. It was the wrong 'un and Parthiv shuffled across to sweep, missed and is rapped on the pads. The question was whether the impact was in-line, umpire Nandan thought so and raised his finger. Parthiv Patel lbw b Yadav 30(27) [4s-3 6s-1]

4

Yadav to Nitish Rana, FOUR, a freebie from to welcome Rana. Googly which is short and down leg, Rana went for the big pull and under edge it fine. The man in the deep was square and had no chance

W

to Buttler, out Lbw!! Two wickets in two overs. The bowling change has worked for KOL and GG. The UP lad gets rid of the dangerous Buttler, who makes a start and gets out, again. A full toss that tailed back in, Buttler was beaten for pace as he missed the flick. The ball struck him in front of leg-stump. Not sure if it would have gone on to hit the sticks. But the finger was raised and he walks back. Buttler lbw b 28(22) [4s-1 6s-2]

W

to Rohit, out Lbw!! Rohit is not walking. He's not pleased with the decision. Has some choice words to say to umpire Nandan. "That's an absolute shocker," says KP on air and he's right. Massive inside edge onto the pad. Two poor decisions in two overs might have just cost MUM the game. The off-break which turns back in and cramps Rohit for room, he hurriedly brings his bat down and smashes it into his pads. The umpire didn't spot it and gave it out after a thought. Rohit was fuming after the decision. Even showed his bat to the umpire gesturing he hit it. But you can't overturn an onfield decision unless you have the DRS and that is not available in the T20 League. This wicket has to be the game changing moment. Rohit lbw b 2(6)

4

to Krunal Pandya, FOUR, this time Krunal is in position much quicker, the line is different too - more around off and middle - and he's able to muscle the pull away through mid-wicket

4

to Krunal Pandya, FOUR, consecutive fours to finish the over. MUM desperately need some momentum here. I think is getting a bit carried away. Bowls it full on the pads and Krunal whips him over mid-wicket

4

Yadav to Nitish Rana, FOUR, a little bit of air from , Rana quickly bends his knees and swipes it to the wide long-on boundary. The length was a bit too full from there

6

Yadav to Nitish Rana, SIX, oh what a shot! 23 off the last two overs now. A good little burst from these two. still flights the ball up, the line is outside off and Rana goes through the line to cream it beautifully over extra-cover. What timing on that. Way into the stands

W

to Krunal Pandya, out Caught by Uthappa!! has strangled him down leg. What a lucky breakthrough to end a fledgling partnership. Back of a length on leg-stump, Krunal tries to help it along into the fine leg boundary but the deflection is only a small one. A faint little tickle off the inside edge straight to the keeper. Krunal Pandya c Uthappa b 11(6) [4s-2]

6

to Pollard, SIX, all the way. If you're going short to Pollard, it better be nice and high. This one sits up around his chest and he dismisses it from his presence over the mid-wicket boundary

OT

Yadav to Pollard, no run, uh oh! A bad mix-up there with Pollard being sent back from the middle of the pitch. But he makes it home. The throw isn't a great one from Pathan either. Rana called him initially but then backtracked as Pollard steered it to point. These are nervy times

4

to Pollard, FOUR, bowls short first up to surprise him, but Pollard is quickly into position. He's able to swivel outside the line of the ball which is on leg-stump and helps the pull to the fine leg boundary. It's rocketed through

W

to Pollard, out Caught by (sub)Rishi Dhawan!! What a huge wicket right after the break. The major threat of Pollard is gone, and KOL will really back themselves now to seal this. Not sure if this was the plan, or just executed it incorrectly. He bowls it short and wide, Pollard throws his bat at and the top-edge flies down for a comfortable catch to third man. Massive moment. Pollard c (sub)Rishi Dhawan b 17(17) [4s-1 6s-1]

4

to Nitish Rana, FOUR, moves away from the line of the short of length off-cutter, creates some room and flays it away over extra-cover. Rana keeping Mumbai afloat

OT

to Nitish Rana, 1 run, botches a run-out opportunity! He just had to collect the ball cleanly. Rana was well short. Rana couldn't find any elevation as he tried to flat-bat the back of length delivery and he hit it straight to mid-off. Never a run there, but the non-striker had come a long way down so Rana obliged. Would have been gone

4

to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, that's been absolutely spanked through extra-cover. The ball has left a vapour trail. Short and wide from , Pandya smokes it while backing away

4

to Nitish Rana, FOUR, brilliant timing! Low full toss wide of off, Rana reaches out and slices it past backward point. It skimmed off the bat

6

to Nitish Rana, SIX, 10 off 2 balls. This game isn't over yet. Not while Rana is there. is struggling to execute the yorker. He delivered a low full toss last ball, now a proper full toss at the stumps. Rana picks it away effortless over long leg

6

to Hardik Pandya, SIX, length from and it disappears way back over mid-wicket. The MUM dugout is on its feet. What a blow from Pandya. But this is ordinary death bowling. Seam-up and good length, right there in the slot

6

to Nitish Rana, SIX, lapped over the keeper for six! Thrilling stuff. Rana has stooped across and picked this full toss from middle-stump. It came right off the middle

4

to Nitish Rana, FOUR, full toss again and this time he lofts it over extra-cover. Although the timing isn't quite there, he just had to clear the fielder in the circle. No chance for the fielder running across from sweeper cover. It's fifty for Rana too. The crowd going bonkers

W

to Nitish Rana, out Caught by Narine!! That roar from drowned the whole of Wankhede by itself. Rana backs away to a low full toss on middle and spears it straight to point. He had timed the pants off it but couldn't have found the fielder any better. His stunning innings comes to an end. Oh what a game! Nitish Rana c Narine b 50(29) [4s-5 6s-3]

6

to Hardik Pandya, SIX, low full toss again and Hardik flogs it over square leg. He is 18 off 5. What a blinder!

4

to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, that is probably the blunder which will cost KOL the match. It shouldn't have been any more than a single. A low full toss which Hardik can't find any elevation with. He smacks it down to long-on, where Surya attacks the ball nicely but he misfields and the ball sneaks through

D

to Hardik Pandya, 2 runs, this is very, very ordinary from KOL in the field. The substitute Rishi Dhawan is the culprit this time. He drops a skier. Another brilliant short ball, rushes Hardik on the pull and takes a thick top-edge to deep square leg. Dhawan looks nervous under the ball, slips a bit and then has to dive to his left after the misjudgement. Makes a hash of it

4

to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, full on the pads, and Hardik has done it! He whips it away past a diving Rajpoot at the fine leg boundary before running down and cutting a pose for the camera

4

to Chris Lynn, FOUR, errs in length and pays the price. Lynn is too good to not miss out on these. Takes a giant step forward, uses all his power to muscle it down the ground

4

to Chris Lynn, FOUR, poor ball. Short and down leg, too easy for Lynn. Swivels across and helps it on its way past the man at 45

4

to Gambhir, FOUR, offers some width to Gambhir, who will not miss out on these. Reaches out and bullies it with serene timing through cover

4

to Gambhir, FOUR, yes he can! is not learning, doles out a friendly full toss on off, Gambhir opens the bat face and slices it behind point

4

to Gambhir, FOUR, two in a row for Gambhir. This was streaky but the KOL captain won't mind. Pitched up full outside off, Gambhir went hard on the drive, gets an outside edge that races away to the third man fence. The fielder was squarer and had no chance

6

to Chris Lynn, SIX, there he goes! Loads up big, gets under this short ball and dismisses it into the deep mid-wicket stands. Into the top-tier

W

Pandya to Gambhir, out Caught by McClenaghan!! Gambhir combusts. The ploy of bringing in a spinner early in the innings has paid rich dividends for Mumbai. Gambhir, in an attempt to go big, miscues one and hits it straight to square leg. McClenaghan times his jump to perfection, leaps and takes a smart catch. Pandya exults in delight.Gambhir c McClenaghan b Pandya 19(13) [4s-3]

4

Pandya to Uthappa, FOUR, this was quite intentional from Robbie. Plants his front foot forward, looking to defend. The ball came in with the angle, takes the outer half of his willow and runs away to the third man fence

W

Pandya to Uthappa, out Caught by Hardik Pandya!! Two wickets in the over. Uthappa falls cheaply. This was floated up much fuller from KP, tempting Uthappa to go for the big shot. The Karnataka batsman went after it, albeit didn't find the sweet spot in his willow. Skies it as far as deep mid-wicket, where his brother Hardik swallows it up with ease. Pandya roars in joy and sprints up to his brother and leaps onto him. What a start for Mumbai. Uthappa c Hardik Pandya b Pandya 4(3) [4s-1]

4

to Chris Lynn, FOUR, oh boy! has been Lynn-ed here. If there is ever a term like that. Just stands still, unleashes a strong bottom-hand to slap it through extra cover. Bulleted away to the fence

W

to Chris Lynn, out Lbw!! Boom! strikes. Its the dangerous Lynn who has to walk back to the hut. The crowd find their voices back. Lynn makes a blunder by walking across his sticks, kept it simple, bowled full and raps him low on the pad. Was beaten for pace and was struck right in front of middle. Lynn is disappointed. Big wicket for the home team. Chris Lynn lbw b 32(24) [4s-3 6s-1]

4

Pandya to M Pandey, FOUR, another edge. Pandey is living a struggle here in reading the amounts of turn. Not quite the control but ultimately manages to get some wood on it in directing the edge through the keeper

W

Pandya to Y Pathan, out Caught by Hardik Pandya!! Another dismissal all in the household. In fact it doesn't leave Baroda either. Pathan in his quest to get on with the scoring jumps down the track, barely gets close but cannot pull out of his hoick. Swings hard, miscues big time and Hardik at long-off stretches vertically in plucking it out. Y Pathan c Hardik Pandya b Pandya 6(11)

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, so deft. The cheek these days. Shapes up for the cut, or so we assumed but at the very last moment opens the bat upwards in a dab past the outstretched Parthiv leg

6

to M Pandey, SIX, this was coming. With keeping it short and wide and Pandey's orthodox cuts failing, he decides to arch back with a toe-rise and ramps his bat upwards in teasing the man at third man over the ropes

4

to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR, just the hint of width. Enough for Yadav to sniff a boundary out of it. Throws the kitchen sink at it with a crack through the off-side

4

to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR, the width is back. And so is the allied length that starts off from half way down. A wristy chop quite off the outside half of the bat. Hurries away through third man

6

to M Pandey, SIX, oh boy. Smoked one down. For a change he stays put in his crease without moving around and bends low in plundering what should have been a yorker. A vicious bat swing in tonking it into the black screen

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, and now he toys around further. responds with a length delivery outside off and Pandey after threatening to muscle another one out, stays composed and guides it behind point

W

to Suryakumar Yadav, out Caught by Pollard!! The sucker ball. On the umpteenth occasion a set batsman perishes after the team passes on a strategy in the break. Can't blame Yadav for anticipating the toe-crushing yorker. He gets one just that there is no pace at all on this one. Swings through his shot, gets one hand off the handle and eventually watches the ball pick out Pollard to perfection at long-on. Suryakumar Yadav c Pollard b 17(15) [4s-2]

OT

to M Pandey, 1 run, here's his half-ton. Playing a vital hand here. Gets there with a flat batted agricultural heave. Then watches all his effort neutralized by the ball finding deep mid-wicket on the bounce

W

to Woakes, out Caught by Pollard!! The wheels falling off here. Looks for his favoured flat batted pull through cow corner. Does get it right but neither manages the elevation nor does he keep it down. Yet another batsman picks out Pollard at the fence. The ploy of keeping it short and slow doing the trick out here. Woakes c Pollard b 9(8)

6

to M Pandey, SIX, a sink, a swing and a crowd deposit. Picks out the predictable off-spinner and waits for the ball to get into his arc. Unleashes a full bat swing and goes through with it in holding the pose as he drills one several rows into the cow corner stands

6

to M Pandey, SIX, the sitting up length. Right where he wanted to and with all the pace on it as well for it to be dealt with severity. A full-blooded pull and just the sound ensures the maximum

4

to M Pandey, no ball, FOUR, he oversteps and then bowls it in the arc as well. More of the sunken bat swings in intercepting the two men at the leg-side fence. Pandey with help here from the bowler giving KOL the final catapult. Free hit coming up

6

to M Pandey, SIX, misses the mark yet again. A yorker attempted only to be missed by a cool few centimeters. Ample time for Pandey to settle himself under it as he hammers it over long-on. Just cannot keep it down

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, a full toss now. Nothing coming out right here. Tailing away and Pandey is more than glad to use the width in just tickling it past the keeper

W

to Narine, out Lbw!! Dead straight. Just that it goes onto the pad after smashing the bat. A yorker on the stumps, quite where he should have been right from the start. Narine tries hard in getting his bat down in digging it out. Almost does well in the end, gets right off the toe-end to ricochet onto his boot. Too quick for the umpire to spot it as well. Never mind. KOL finish with 178. Narine lbw b 1(2)
