W

to Tare, out Tare Run Out!! This was very similar to the Buttler dismissal, the fielding aspect. Tare's horror run this season continues. His scores: 18, 0 and 0. Back of a length and close to off, Tare knocks it towards cover and sets off on a suicidal run, Hardik runs across, gets a good bounce and under-arms a throw onto the sticks at the bowler's end. Tare was diving to make his ground, but was still short. Tare run out (Hardik Pandya) 0(1)

4

to Samson, FOUR, crunched! pounds it short of length around off, Samson stands tall and punches it through the crowded off-side field, the ball races away to the fence

4

to Samson, FOUR, consecutive boundaries to finish an eventful first over. Too straight, on middle and leg, Samson flicks it off his pads past the square leg umpire, the quick outfield does the rest

W

to Samson, out Caught by Rohit!! What's happening DEL? This game ain't over. It has in fact come alive. The in-form Samson departs. Two early wickets for MUM and just the started they needed. Good length ball around off, might have stopped on Samson, who checked his front foot push and spooned a dolly to mid-off. Full marks for Rohit, he had placed himself close in. If he was on the edge, it wouldn't have carried. is pumped up. Samson c Rohit b 9(6) [4s-2]

4

to Shreyas Iyer, FOUR, poor delivery and Iyer is off the mark. Slips it onto the legs, just needed a tickle and Iyer got plenty of wood on that, the ball raced away to the fine leg fence

W

to Shreyas Iyer, out Caught by Parthiv Patel!! Iyer has been strangled down the leg-side. The hometown lad doesn't cause much damage. Short and down leg, would have been a wide had Iyer let it pass, instead he sees a run-scoring opportunity, gets inside the line and gloves it to Parthiv. This time he had the bowler and umpire on his side. Third wicket down and DEL are in deep trouble. This was a nothing delivery from and it still produced a wicket. Tells you that the rub of the green is with MUM. Shreyas Iyer c Parthiv Patel b 6(7) [4s-1]

W

to Corey Anderson, out Lbw!! Anderson is gone for nought. is running riot. The extra delivery brings MUM a wicket. Fourth wicket down and things look bleak for DEL. They need something special to get out of this. Good length delivery with a bit of inward movement, Anderson is caught in the crease, beaten on the inside edge and the ball hits the back pad right in front of middle. Umpire Ravi had his finger up in a flash. 's current figures: 2-0-7-3. Corey Anderson lbw b 0(3)

W

to Pant, out Caught by Harbhajan!! Another batsman goes without troubling the scorers. has both has his hands up in a gesture which says, that was easy. Back of a length delivery angled across off, Pant hangs his bat away from the body, the ball takes a healthy edge and flies to the lone slipper, Harbhajan clings on comfortably. Five down and things going down very quickly for DEL. Pant c Harbhajan b 0(3)

W

Pandya to Nair, out Bowled!! Chopped on! is into the act now. Six down and just the 24 on the board. Nair becomes the sixth batsmen to record a single-digit score. This is getting embarrassing for DEL. Short of a length and just outside off, Nair goes half-hearted on the cut shot, the inside edge crashes into the stumps. No respite for the crowd, they keep going bonkers each over. Nair b Pandya 5(15)

4

to Rabada, FOUR, almost another. Rabada after getting squared up thanks to the nagging angle being created out here just throws his bat up looking to cut the ball away. Races away off the top-edge and flies through the hands of slip. Rohit the man out there. Too quick for the classification to come under a drop

4

Pandya to Rabada, FOUR, oh glorious. As clean as it could get. A pitched up delivery in the arc and Rabada gives his top order a facepalm moment with a full bat face presentation. Whizzes past the bowler

4

to Chris Morris, FOUR, would need many more of these. A wide liner this from Bhajji and Morris capitalizes with a reverse as he brooms it past the lone man perched at point

6

to Rabada, SIX, a dance and a dispatch. Right up, close and personal to a friendly tosser up and excutes the lofted drive. Clears the tallest man on operation at long-off

4

to Rabada, FOUR, chipped up. Was a serious miscue. But pockets a boundary for his efforts. With no one at the fence, thanks to all the wickets falling around, Rabada lofts it uppishly off the cue end over mid-off. That's all he had to do

4

to Rabada, FOUR, the French cut now. Rabada keeping the flag fluttering up there. Gets himself too close for the cut but swishes through. Chops it off the under edge past the keeper. So very French

4

to Chris Morris, FOUR, brings up the 50 of the stand. A real fightback this. And gets there in some style as well with a lovely looking square cut. Guess what, there is no one out there

4

Pandya to Chris Morris, FOUR, brilliance to end in some sloppiness. A punishing drive this from Morris through the covers and the other KP runs around, swoops and dives to cut off what was meant to be a certain boundary. But in his attempt to get up and throw has his back leg spike brush the boundary cushions. Oh dear, the misery gets worse

OT

to Rabada, 1 run, shuffles well across. Almost a set of stumps away and flicks it away to short fine. Again, a shy at the stumps at the non-striker's end..a direct hit would have meant curtains

4

to Chris Morris, FOUR, here comes the streak. Morris gives it his all, just throws his bat out at a short, wide pepper. Only manages a top-edge. More than enough to fly through the cordon

6

to Chris Morris, SIX, much needed. Courtesy Morris. Walks across, stands tall and gives the sitting up short one a real spank in getting it to fly over mid-wicket

W

to Rabada, out Bowled!! The zing bails light up the night sky again. gets out the screwdriver in tightening the coffin. The coffin that had brought Delhi out of the dead. On the base of leg and nothing Rabada could do with it. Swings hard but the ball dips in sharply to scoot under the flashy blade. What a welcome Rabada's had to the T20 League nevertheless. Rabada b 44(39) [4s-4 6s-1]

4

Pandya to Chris Morris, FOUR, keeps them in the hunt. Gets low on a knee and throws the bat out in carving it square. In the gap too. 19 needed off 4

OT

Pandya to Chris Morris, 2 runs, more of the same. Pandya persists with the line way outside off and Morris responds with another square drive. Uppish, whistling away off the turf. Just that this time Krunal is present in putting in the dive to keep it down to a couple. Meanwhile Morris has his fifty to boast of. He doesn't know. He doesn't care

6

Morris to Buttler, SIX. Bouncer. Top-edge. Six! Are you surprised? Oh! The bats these days. Big chunk of edge as Morris drops his head in disappointment. Went for the pull did Jos Buttler and Morris' pace took care of the rest

4

Morris to Buttler, FOUR. Edged. One-bounce. Four. The fluke pays off. Buttler comes dancing down the track and slices the flash-drive off the outside edge. Raced away!

D

Morris to Buttler, no run, dropped by Rishabh Pant! Buttler went too far across his off-stump and tried the scoop, he may have played that stroke a touch too early. Spoons it straight to the keeper who was late to pick the ball as the ball swirled around him to distract his attention. Oh, boy!

4

to Parthiv Patel, FOUR, pure timing. Just put bat to ball and the timing will take care of the rest. The thing that coaches tell you. PP did just that to a leg-side dart, dances away to the mid-wicket fence beating a desperate dive from one of the fielders

6

to Buttler, SIX, you don't bowl length to this lad. Not when he's in form. Clears his front leg and smokes it with superb ease over mid-wicket

W

to Parthiv Patel, out Bowled!! Welcome to T20 League, Kagiso . Spears a 145ks tail-smashing yorker in the blockhole, opens PP up and thrashes his leg-stump. World class fast bowling. Nothing much PP could do about it. Too hot to handle. is all pumped up, why not? Parthiv Patel b 8(11) [4s-1]

4

to Buttler, FOUR. Help-me please. Leg-side fodder, Buttler tickles it fine

OT

to Nitish Rana, 1 run, subtle change of pace. Rana plays it late as he tucks it to short fine. A good throw from the fielder would have had Rana struggling at the non-striker's end

4

to Buttler, FOUR. Right into his plate. Sits up perfectly for Buttler, he lifts it with lovely extension of the arms over extra cover

W

Morris to Nitish Rana, out Buttler Run Out!! Rana slams his bat in disgust. Error in judgement and he ends up selling his partner. Just taps the ball to cover and sets off, Samson runs forward, picks it up clean and smashes the stumps. Buttler was nowhere to be seen in the frame. There was no single there, Buttler looked ominous, gee! Buttler run out (Samson) 28(18) [4s-3 6s-2]

4

to Nitish Rana, FOUR, picks the length and reverse-sweeps Amit through backward point. There was a slip in place, but he got the timing right. Risky, but worth it

W

Cummins to Nitish Rana, out Caught by Corey Anderson!! Corey Anderson didn't have to move an inch. Straight as a dolly. 140ks short ball. Rana, with the kind of form he is in, looks to tonk it over deep square with a pull. He might have timed that well, but with 140ks thudding your bat, you can't clear the fence every day. Deep square plucks it reverse-cupped. Replays show it came off the toe end. Nitish Rana c Corey Anderson b Cummins 8(9) [4s-1]

W

to Rohit, out Caught by Pat Cummins!! Rohit Sharma has been googlied again. Legspinners are having him for dinner this T20 League. Big, big wicket this. Not sure if he read the wrong 'un, was on his knees looking to clear deep square with a slog sweep. Miscued, big time. Cummins gobbles it up at the edge of the boundary. Rohit c Pat Cummins b 5(9)

4

to Krunal Pandya, FOUR. No pace. Krunal Pandya picked the bones out it. Shuffles towards the line of the ball and smears it in the gap between mid-off and extra cover

W

to Krunal Pandya, out Caught by Pant!! Two for -gee! Googly again. Krunal Pandya hides his bat between his legs after running it off the face of the bat. But, the umpire isn't fooled by any of his tactics. Pings his index finger straight up acknowleding the appeal from the keeper. It twirls away from a good length and massages the edge en route to Rishabh Pant. Krunal Pandya c Pant b 17(16) [4s-1]

4

to Pollard, FOUR, fine delivery that didn't deserve a boundary. Short delivery right under the batsman's throat, Pollard was backing away and was hurried on the pull, the top-edge flies away fine, one bounce and into the fence

4

to Pollard, FOUR, second boundary of the over for Pollard. He holds the key for MUM. goes full and Pollard says thank you very much, drilled down the ground past mid-off. That ends 's spell, 4-0-36-0. He's still searching for his 100th T20 League wicket

4

to Pollard, FOUR, smashed! The crowd are slowly finding their voices again. Flighted just outside off, Pollard drives it down the ground. How hard did he strike that? He didn't bother to run, that sums it up

4

Cummins to Pollard, FOUR, would you believe it? Morris allows the ball to escape past him. Has his hands up to apologise to Cummins. Short delivery and Pollard pulls it without much timing. Morris was reluctant to come for the catch. Tries to take it on the bounce, but the side spins beats him

6

Morris to Hardik Pandya, SIX, for a second the ball seemed to be heading out of Wankhede. But just clears the rope. Slower delivery on middle and leg, Pandya clears his front leg and heaves it to deep mid-wicket. Not off the middle and hence didn't go a long way

W

Cummins to Pollard, out Caught by Samson!! Huge, huge wicket. With 18 balls to go, Pollard could have produced a match-defining innings. Clever cricket from Cummins though, rolled his fingers across the ball at the last instant, Pollard had made room to go for a big heave-ho, went through even though there was no pace on the ball. The ball went high up and the cool, calm Samson was under it at long-on. Taken comfortably. Pollard c Samson b Cummins 26(29) [4s-4]

6

to Hardik Pandya, SIX, smoked! Back of a length delivery, Pandya was almost cramped for space, but got a decent connection on the short-arm pull, the ball travels to second tier at the deep mid-wicket fence. Head right on top of the ball was the key there

W

to Hardik Pandya, out Harbhajan Run Out!! School boy stuff from Harbhajan. He doesn't slide the bat in and hence pays the price. does not offer any width to Pandya, spears it in the blockhole, an inside edge hits the pad and drops on the pitch. Harbhajan calls for the run and he forgets to slide the ball. Good footballing skills from , runs forward and kicks the ball onto the stumps. If he had slid his bat in, Harbhajan might have survived. Harbhajan run out () 2(2)

W

Morris to Hardik Pandya, out Hardik Pandya Run Out!! 1 run completed. Pandya had to go for it. He was the man who could cause more damage. Squeezes out the yorker to mid-wicket. Nair had a long way to run in and the batsmen thought the second was on. Nair gets there quickly and fires a flat throw to Pant, who does the rest. Even a full stretch from Pandya is not enough to save him. Hardik Pandya run out (Nair/Pant) 24(23) [6s-2]

4

Morris to Johnson, FOUR, streaky! But Johnson won't mind. He's off the mark in this T20 League with a boundary. Very full and on leg-stump, Johnson slogs and the inside edge evades the leg-stump, runs away to the fine leg fence
