Joseph to Dhawan, FOUR, rank long hop and Dhawan is all over it. Yes, he had got out playing this shot in the third ODI, but not today. Made the most width Joseph provided on a shortish length, slapped over and behind square for the first boundary. Third man had no chance

W

Joseph to Dhawan, out Caught by Lewis!! Dhawan gone! Third successive failure for him. Joseph once more provides the early breakthrough for the Windies. Good length ball that might have just held up on the surface, Dhawan was looking to drive, had to check his shot and spooned a dolly to cover. Just the start Windies would have talked about before getting onto the field. Dhawan c Lewis b Joseph 4(3) [4s-1]

D

to Rahane, 1 run, dropped! Rahane got a reprieve in the last game as well. Relatively easy chance that Bishoo has put down. Short and wide outside off, Rahane cracks the cut towards cover-point, Bishoo bends low to his left and spills it. Straight in and straight out, hangs his head back in disappointment. That would have been massive

4

Joseph to Rahane, FOUR, that is Laxmanesque. Picked the length delivery from outside off and placed it wide of mid-on. Only a batsman with supple wrists can do that, the timing was also excellent as the ball raced away to the fence

4

to Rahane, FOUR, errs in line and that's easy peasy for the highest run-getter in the series. Length delivery on middle and leg, just needed some wood and Rahane gets more than just, raced away to the fine leg fence

4

to Rahane, FOUR, superb stuff! This delivery was almost similar to the previous one, just that it was much wider, Rahane comes forward, opens the bat face and drives it square, splitting backward point and cover-point to perfection

4

to Rahane, FOUR, third boundary of the over. Rahane is already making Windies pay for the drop catch. Short and hint of width on offer, enough for Rahane to crack it behind point. No need to run for those

4

Joseph to Kohli, FOUR, Kohli at his best. Driving. Nothing wrong with the delivery from Joseph, on a length and close to off, Kohli drives on the up past the bowler and mid-off would only fetch the ball from the fence. Timed beautifully!

4

Joseph to Kohli, FOUR, the boundaries are flowing far too easily for Windies' liking. The idea is right to bowl short, but the line was wrong from Joseph, on middle and leg, Kohli moves inside the line, swivels and pulls behind square leg in typical Caribbean style with one feet in the air

D

to Kohli, 1 run, did it carry? Even if it did, was a tough one for Nurse. Dropped short of the gully fielder. troubles his counterpart with that awkward bouncing shortish length delivery, Kohli tries his best to get on top of it, but doesn't and the steer lands in front of Nurse. Why play those?

4

Joseph to Kohli, FOUR, that is authoritative. That is dismissive. A statement made by Kohli. DO NOT BOWL SHORT. Gets into position ever so quickly, right on top of the bounce and pulls it in front of square. Three men patrolling that side of the field and he threaded them to perfection

4

Bishoo to Kohli, FOUR, width offered and no half measures from Kohli. His eyes lit and went for his favourite whippy drive through extra cover, the ball took the outer part of the bat and beat backward point to his left

4

Bishoo to Rahane, FOUR, an inside edge saves Rahane. Hope was lining up for the stumping, but a bit of deflection puts him off. Rahane gives the charge and tries the big shot down the ground, the ball squirts off the edge beating a helpless Hope

4

Williams to Kohli, FOUR, buffet served to Kohli. On the legs and he helps himself to a boundary. Is already inside the line and glances it neatly to beat the man at fine leg

W

Bishoo to Rahane, out Lbw!! Drinks brings a wicket. Bishoo provides the breakthrough that the Windies have been waiting for. Nothing but a straight delivery and Rahane plays all round it, wanted to work it through the leg-side, missed and struck in front of middle. Had a quick chat with Kohli and decided to not review it. That looked out from the moment Rahane missed. Might have been a lapse in concentration that brought about Rahane's downfall. Rahane lbw b Bishoo 39(51) [4s-5]

4

Williams to Kohli, FOUR, the drop-kick shot from Kohli. Picked the slower delivery very early and with the angle over mid-wicket, the back leg in the air and the ball scurrying across the fence. All bottom hand from the Indian skipper

4

Bishoo to Karthik, FOUR, short and Karthik is quick to latch on, moves forward and back to transfer his weight, slaps it in front of square, no one sweeping and that's his first boundary

4

to Kohli, FOUR, fifty for Kohli. Problems with the short ball? What problems, asks Kohli. Allows his bat to do all the talking. Gets to the landmark in typical fashion. Floated up outside off, Kohli stays low and whips the drive through extra cover. No chance for sweeper cover. Once again it is the bottom hand that comes into play. Just a wave of the bat from the skipper

6

Bishoo to Kohli, SIX, rank long hop and Kohli ain't missing out. Uses the depth of the crease to make it even shorter and then smacks the pull over the cow corner fence. He is in the mood today

4

to Karthik, FOUR, Karthik getting into the act. It was almost a Virat Kohli sort of drive. Flighted outside off, Karthik maintains a low base and drives it through extra cover, long-off had given up the chase

4

to Kohli, FOUR. 50 partnership between VK and DK. Kohli sits on the back foot and deftly guides the ball past the keeper's glove. All too easy at the moment. Kohli in complete command

4

Joseph to Karthik, FOUR, short and wide, DK throws the kitchen sink and flays it over backward point. Third man had a lot of ground to cover to his right, he tried his best, but just couldn't pull it back. Kesrick Williams was the fielder

4

to Kohli, FOUR, can't be bowling there to Kohli. Too full outside off, he gets to the pitch of it and slams the drive through extra cover. No stopping that

4

to Karthik, FOUR, DK is second guessing the bowler here. Knows which line is gonna bowl and rocks back to late cut a nonspinning delivery behind backward point. Runs coming thick and fast now

4

Bishoo to Kohli, FOUR, that's absolute rubbish. An excited Windies supporter shakes her head in disbelief. A full toss on the stumps, Kohli dismisses it out of his sight. Cross bat swat into the leg-side, for a four to wide long-on

4

Williams to Kohli, FOUR, Kohli and bottom hand are best friends. Always brings the best out of him. May not look elegant, but gee...what power! Just waits on the back foot and clubs the punch through cover

4

to Karthik, FOUR, the partnership between DK and VK is now 100, a relatively full ball on off and middle, DK wrists the on-drive wide of mid-on. Has the legs to go all the way

4

Williams to Kohli, FOUR. King Kohli. Master Kohli. The ever-hungry young man. The chase chauffeur. ________ Place your favourite adjective. Virat Kohli goes past the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to hold the record of most number of centuries while chasing in ODI cricket. 28th in ODIs and 18th in run chases. Windies, and Holder in particular, bounced him out in the last two games. But when he arrived at the crease today, there was a clear intent, "I'm not gonna throw my wicket away come hell or high water" sort of look on his face. Holder gave him a stare. Kohli responded with an equally intimidating stare. And that moment, I had a hunch VK will score big and it did pan out the way I guessed. What a memorable landmark for the Indian skipper, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Considering, the gloom that surrounded Indian cricket after Kumble's departure, this ton should put a lot of questions to bed. He gets there with a powerful whip wide of mid-on. Sprints to the other end, takes his helmet off and yells the life out of his lungs. A very animated celebration this. Warm reception from the dressing room as well...

OT

Chase to Karthik, 1 run, a delayed cut to the left of short third to bring up his fifty and India's 200. Just a raise of the bat, a handshake from the skipper. The dressing room rise as one to applaud

6

Chase to Kohli, SIX. That's it from Chase and that'll be it from the Chasemaster. Whiplashed away over long-on and that's a series victory for India. They win this 3-1. Their third consecutive series win against the Windies in the Caribbean Island. Holder and Co. swarm around Kohli to congratulate him on the series win and on his personal landmark. One more series in the bag for India

4

Yadav to Kyle Hope, FOR, the warm p line. Copled with the messed p length. Too straight on the hips. All Hope has to do is get a chnk of wood midway and does it with aplomb. Too easy. The first fence hitter

4

Yadav to Kyle Hope, FOR, disdain. The freebie short-wide combo from mesh and pnished with a hard ct. Past point and whistles away frther. The change of ends not qite serving the prpose

4

Yadav to Kyle Hope, FOR, horrific again. Too wide, too short, too easy. The wind keeps taking the ball away and this time dealt with a solid angled batted pnch. In front of point she goes - into the fence of corse

4

to Kyle Hope, FOUR, the surprise yorker. Meets a surprise flick. Right in the blockhole after the batsman shuffles and then gets a powerful overbalancing flick to take it into the fence behind square

4

Yadav to Kyle Hope, FOR, 135kph, another drifter. Another dispatch. Hope keeps walking across the stmps and mesh keeps firing them in the arc to be pnished. On the pads and those wrists take over. They cannot be stopped. Backward sqare leg does try

W

Pandya to Lewis, out Caught by Kohli!! The show stops. At the other end though. Not a shade of the timing Hope has been dishing out and it is the unlikeliest of pacers to have struck. Shows once again why keeping it tight on top of the stumps is never a bad ploy. Gets it full for Lewis to drive and he obliges. Goes upwards, minus the timing and chips it in the air to a waiting Kohli at short cover. The blitz at the top is nipped. Lewis c Kohli b Pandya 9(20)

OT

Pandya to Shai Hope, 1 run, plonks the bat in..just in time. The Indians had a few high-fives in celebration too after the direct hit at the bowler's end. All after Shai tucks it around to square leg and brother dear steps out, only to return

4

to Kyle Hope, FOUR, the echo. Bats would be proud. Strays a millimeter in line and Kyle plucks out a mile. Gets close after his walk across and slashes hard at it in spanking it through point

4

to Kyle Hope, FOUR, and now the showman takes over. Follows up a horizontal blade with a perpendicular. A fullish delivery from and shown the fence down the ground with a delightful straight drive. All mid-off could do was admire

4

Pandya to Shai Hope, FOUR, a floater. A gentle one too. Gets a wide half-volley and obliged with a lean and a stoop in timing the pants off it with the drive to take it through the covers and into the ropes

4

to Shai Hope, FOUR, nailed away! Gets down quickly, cuts the fullish length mid-way and sweeps it behind square

4

Yadav to Kyle Hope, FOR, all bottom-handed. Nothing really wrong with this delivery bt Hope slips into the death-batting zone. Clears his leg and plnders a length delivery down the grond

4

Yadav to Kyle Hope, FOR, plls the length back, and Hope plls ot the pll. The reslt - never mind. Lets the ball get p and drags it from otside off with more of the mrderos instincts. This time throgh mid-wicket it is

W

Yadav to Kyle Hope, ot Caght by Dhawan!! Digs his grave. Or rather plls himself to his grave. One shot too many. Cripes, the greed I tell yo. mesh keeps p with similar deliveries, on a back of a length and arond the forth stmp line. After forehanding a cople and defending a cople, Hope decides it is time to get back to the former. A mighty flat batted heave follows, that is neither kept down or ppish. Finds Dhawan at short mid-wicket. Yes, yes, the thigh-whacking Kabaddi celebrations come ot too. Kyle Hope c Dhawan b Yadav 46(50) [4s-9]

W

Yadav to Roston Chase, ot Lbw!! A rip-roaring yorker. And the mpire stays kind to the Indians' appeal. The perfect welcome to a newcomer at the crease and add the drinks break effect to that too. Chase, nexpectedly is caght napping, waiting on his back foot and is late in getting the bat down in time to dig it ot. Strck flsh on the base of the front pad in front of middle. Okay, after a lengthy consltation with himself and his partner he decides to take matters pstairs. Nothing wrong with the no ball, and it is three reds. Roston Chase lbw b Yadav 0(1)

4

Yadav to Shai Hope, FOR, the slashing width. The cstomary bad ball of the over. Walks across, rises on the toes and wields the slapping sword. Takes the leather off it in whacking it sqare

OT

to J Mohammed, 2 runs, another alarm for the third ump to snooze away. The most nagging of all the ones he's faced thus far. A flat bullet arm of a fast bowler from the deep extra cover fence. After diving and cutting it off. And Dhoni is quick to whip the bails off too. The dive comes to Mohammed's rescue as well. Just in. A matter of millimeters. Before I forget, it all came off an extravagant drive to a full toss, wide of long-off

4

Jadhav to Shai Hope, FOUR, quicker outside off. Shai Hope cracks the cut and places past it cover. Rahane chases it but is a little late to put in the dive. First boundary in 61 balls

W

Jadhav to J Mohammed, out Caught&Bowled!! You plan for Jadeja, plan for Kuldeep.. plan for everyone and then this man comes and gets you out. Soft dismissal indeed. Flat short ball, never came to Jason as he goes back to pull/punch (looked a cross of both). Ends up chipping back to the bowler. Easy one for him. Dislodges the bails at the bowler's end to be safe. J Mohammed c and b Jadhav 16(39)

D

Jadhav to Holder, no run, edges to Dhoni trying to defend. Too thick a edge for Dhoni to read that. Will go down as a drop

4

to Holder, FOUR, someone had to. Who better than the skipper? Quicker ball and Holder swings across the line, over mid-wicket and fetches a welcome four

4

Pandya to Shai Hope, FOUR, hurried him for pace on the bouncer. Shai Hope wanted to get done with the hook somehow, deflects off the glove over Dhoni and into the fine leg after a few bounces

4

Yadav to Holder, FOUR, fetches the reverse sweep from well outside leg and sends it past the point fielder

6

Pandya to Holder, SIX, this will take a while to sink in. Holder fetched it from outside off and then whipped flat over mid-wicket. Goes all the way. Windies need some of these

OT

Pandya to Shai Hope, 1 run, 94-ball fifty for Shai Hope. Lets the ball come to him before working through mid-wicket to get to the milestone

4

Yadav to Holder, FOUR, that he is making Holder do these kind of things is a mini victory for Yadav. Reverse sweep this time, fetched from middle and leg and sent down to the deep point fence

4

to Holder, FOUR, DK is 5 miles away from this because it has gone over extra cover. Holder made a bit of room and whacked over the fielder in the ring. Holder is pushing things now

W

to Holder, out Caught by Dhawan!! Dhawan does the thigh slapping. And why? Because he has caught the skipper at long-on. Short ball and Holder premeditated by making room. Would have expected something fuller, did not get that. Was never going to back down anyway so slapped it with a flat bat. Got enough power but not the height to tower over Dhawan, who ran to his left and grabbed that one. Holder c Dhawan b 36(34) [4s-4 6s-1]

W

to Shai Hope, out Caught by Rahane!! Brilliant catch from Rahane. Ran from deep square leg and dived at the last moment to get his hands under it. Perfect technique, if some youngster wants to learn. Kept his eyes on the ball before making the final move. Now coming to the shot: Shai Hope read the slower ball and tried to swing across the line, did so but ended up miscuing in the air. Rahane from deep square leg ran to his left and got that one. Had his hand raised to signal 'I've got it mates,' as he ran for the catch. Shai Hope c Rahane b 51(98) [4s-5]

W

to Nurse, out Caught by Kuldeep Yadav!! Is this pitch holding up? Seems so. Was a normal 141kph ball and Nurse's bat turned on the flick and it appeared as if the ball stopped on him. The ball popped out to Kuldeep Yadav at mid-wicket. Easy overhead catch for the young man. Nurse c Kuldeep Yadav b 0(4)

D

Yadav to Devendra Bishoo, no run, dropped by Dhoni behind the stumps. Devendra Bishoo stayed back to punch and edged it. Thick one, Dhoni got gloves to it but the ball popped out. Could not reach on the second attempt

4

to Devendra Bishoo, FOUR, full ball that was going across Devendra Bishoo and it helped him. Edged the push and it ran past Dhoni to the third man fence

W

to Devendra Bishoo, out Caught by Dhoni!! Four wickets for . Was gifted this one by Devendra Bishoo, who tried something innovative that did not come out well. Made room to a length ball in his bid to guide over the keeper. The ball deflected off the face of the bat into Mahi's mitts. Devendra Bishoo c Dhoni b 6(15) [4s-1]

6

to Rovman Powell, SIX, clears the front leg and sends it soaring high. People anticipate a fifer but it clears the long-on fence with ease

6

Yadav to Rovman Powell, SIX, bad ball. Fll jst otside off and Rovman Powell goes across before cracking it over long-on. 200 is p

W

Yadav to Rovman Powell, ot Caght by Dhoni!! Ninth one goes down, trying to pll a short ball. Was not in a good position to pll that, gloved it to Dhoni's left for an easy one. Bt Rovman Powell has done a little to ensre that Windies will have something to play for. Rovman Powell c Dhoni b Yadav 31(32) [6s-2]
