W

to K Powell, out Caught by Dhoni!! Just the start India wanted in the defence of this massive score. A loose, loose swish from Powell and he pays the penalty. A short of a good length delivery outside off and shaping away, Powell was rooted to the crease as he aimed a drive, ended up grazing an outside edge to Dhoni. The Indians were confident, didn't even appeal as he started celebrating, so did Dhoni. The umpire wasn't so enthused though, the Indians asked for the replay and get the decision in their favour. K Powell c Dhoni b 0(3)

W

to J Mohammed, out Caught by Hardik Pandya!! Double strike from and West Indies are in all sorts of bother now. Mohammed has a disappointed look at the pitch as he wanders away. This was full and wide of off, looking to lure Mohammed into the drive - he obliges, goes with hard hands and slices it straight into the bucket like hands of Pandya at backward point. He doesn't drop those and India have got their second wicket. J Mohammed c Hardik Pandya b 0(8)

4

Yadav to Shai Hope, FOR, lovely shot, length ball on the stmps, Hope waits on it and clips it powerflly past mid-wicket, beats the fielder to his left and rolls away to the fence in a hrry

4

to Shai Hope, FOUR, Hope breaks the shackles, slightly overpitched and just outside off, Hope leans forward, gets close to the ball and thumps it back over the bowler's head, no need to0 run for those

4

Yadav to Shai Hope, FOUR, uff! That's a shot of authority from Hope. Doesn't want to let settle. Squats low and gallops it over mid-wicket. Couple of bounces and into the fence

4

Yadav to Shai Hope, FOUR, not the greatest start to his ODI career. Second boundary of the over. Again errs in line and spears it down leg, Hope sinks low and employs the paddle, gets it very fine and Yuvi's tired legs doesn't help

4

to Lewis, FOUR, fabulous shot. Saunters out and meets the pitch, then drills it hard through extra cover. Superb placement and the sweeper cover fielder had no chance

4

Yadav to Shai Hope, FOUR, is not learning, need to adapt his lines fast. Pure fodder down leg, Hope plays his go-to shot - the sweep. Sends it behind square and it races away to the fence as the dive from the fielder at deep backward square is in vain

4

Yadav to Lewis, FOUR, now adheres to the leg-stump half-volley to the left-hander, same result. Lewis takes a leaf out of Hope's book and brooms it away very fine with swagger

OT

to Shai Hope, 2 runs, 2nd ODI fifty for Hope. Loud cheers from the crowd. Plays his favourite shot to reach the landmark. The paddle towards fine for a brace

6

to Shai Hope, SIX, stand and deliver. Seek and destroy. Filth from , a rank long hop, Hope had enough time to rock back and club it over deep mid-wicket for a maximum

6

Yadav to Shai Hope, SIX, a reminscent off the one he hit the previous over. drops it short, Hope is onto it in a flash, transfers his weight back and smokes it over deep mid-wicket. Just over Dhawan's head

W

Yadav to Lewis, out Stumped!! Maiden ODI scalp for Yadav. What a moment for the youngster. Shows great courage and removes Lewis. A budding partnership has been snapped. Lovely ball, it was the wrong 'un, Lewis shimmied out to smack it down the ground, fails to read the googly and misses it completely. An easy stumping for Dhoni. Lewis st Dhoni b Yadav 21(37) [4s-2]

6

Yadav to Shai Hope, SIX, Hope has looked immensely comfortable against Yadav and he is putting up a clinic here. His second six against . Spots the flight and goes inside out over extra cover. All the way...

W

Yadav to Shai Hope, out Lbw!! Gone for 81, oh he deserved a 100 this lad. Handled Ash and with supreme ease. Playing his 1st ODI against India, looked fearless and smoked some eye-pleasing strokes. A flat delivery bowled full, lands in line with middle and pings him low. Didn't turn much expectedly and was gonna hit the leg pole. Good review from India. MS was convinced which prompted VK to go for it. Shai Hope lbw b Yadav 81(88) [4s-5 6s-3]

4

to J Carter, FOUR, right in the gap! Between backward point and short third. Gets the timing on the reverse sweep spot on and once he hit the gap there's no stopping

W

to J Carter, out Lbw!! Was it too high? Don't think so. Reckon it may have gone with umpire's call. A struggling Carter tried to break the shackles with a sweep, but the ball came much slower than he anticipated. Hung in the air enough to deceive him and defeated his sweep, a shot that was played more in hope than conviction. Hits him around the midriff, but on one knee and inside the crease means it's always going to be out 9/10 times. Good call from umpire Chris Gaffaney. J Carter lbw b 13(31) [4s-1]

4

to Holder, FOUR, that's smashed over extra cover, full and in his zone, Holder doesn't hold back, puts all his might into the shot

6

Yadav to Holder, SIX, he likes pace, doesn't he? Clobbers an overpitched delivery over extra cover, lands jst over the bondary triangles. Powerfl wrists

4

Yadav to Roston Chase, FOR, hops inside the crease and pnches on the p, everything right abot that shot. Probably a perfect example on how to play a back foot pnch, throgh point

4

Yadav to Roston Chase, FOR, hrries the batsman for pace, a short ball, took Chase by srprise who swivelled to pll. He had no idea where the ball was heading, fortnately it blleted off the middle behind sqare

W

Yadav to Holder, out Stumped!! This will go straight into Dhoni's videos list on YouTube. As I'm typing this, I'm sure someone is busy making a GIF of this wicket. Brilliant from Yadav, bowled a wrong 'un and defeated Holder all ends up. Was nowhere near the pitch of the delivery, had a huge swing and missed it by a country mile. There was a bit of comical moment as Dhoni waited for an eternity before dislodging the stumps. Holder looked back stunned, and how! Holder st Dhoni b Yadav 29(29) [4s-1 6s-1]

4

to Nurse, FOUR, thick edge on the swish and Ash makes an ash of it at third man. Running behind and falling fairly short, desperate attempt but no dice

4

Joseph to Rahane, FOUR, cracking shot, too short from Joseph, Rahane swivels across, uses Joseph's pace and helps it over square leg with a swivel pull, one bounce and over the ropes

6

Joseph to Rahane, SIX, short, wide and six, width on offer from Joseph and Rahane cashed in. Throws his bat at that and sends it high and behind square on the off-side, has enough to clear the ropes on the full

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, cracking shot, width on offer from , Dhawan gets on top of the bounce and cracks it square on the off-side, beats the diving fielder and rolls away to the fence

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, this is lovely batting from Dhawan, rank half-volley, wide of off. Dhawan gets forward and drives it with supreme timing, through the gap at cover and into the fence

4

to Rahane, FOUR, that ruins the over for , full and sliding onto Rahane's pads, he's strong there, uses his wrists and flicks it in front of square on the on-side, beats mid-wicket and rolls away to the fence in a hurry

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, lovely shot, tad too full and just outside off, Dhawan gets forward, presents the full face of the bat and drives it back past the non-striker, no need to run for those

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, this is even better, full and just outside off, Dhawan leans forward, plays with a straight bat and drives it past the non-striker, mid-off is wide and has no chance

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, this is poor bowling from , fine leg was inside the ring and he bowls a poor short ball. Dhawan swivels across, rolls his wrists and pulls it behind square on the on-side, no need to run for those

4

Joseph to Dhawan, FOUR, Joseph has had a tough time so far, this was a loopy wide full-toss, Dhawan was looking to smack it over the top, didn't get hold of the shot but has enough to clear the man in the ring, beats the fielder in the deep as well

4

Joseph to Dhawan, FOUR, magnificent. Gave an inkling that it came right off the middle. He's been driving well, here's another instance. A half-volley outside off, Dhawan leans forward, presents a full face of the bat with nice high elbows and drills it past mid-off. Picture-perfect!

4

Joseph to Dhawan, FOUR, wow. He's been in tremendous form. Balance, timing and placement all in sync. Hurls in the half-volley again does Joseph, well outside off, Dhawan bends his back knee and creams the drive through extra cover. Raced away to the fence

4

Joseph to Dhawan, FOUR, expensive over. Third boundary in the over. Joseph overcorrects his length and banged it short, reared up a bit but Dhawan pulls it, not quite off the middle but gets it over mid-wicket off the top half of the willow

OT

Bishoo to Dhawan, 1 run, gives more air, turns out to be a low full toss, Dhawan eases it to long-off and raises his fifty. His 21st in this format and continues his fine form. More importantly will look to convert it into a ton. Jinks walks up and embraces his partner

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, superb from Dhawan, that's his bread and butter shot. Sinks low in time and brings out the broom to direct it behind square. None there and he earns himself a boundary

OT

to Dhawan, 2 runs, cracked hard through extra cover and benefits a couple of runs. 100-run stand for these two

4

Bishoo to Rahane, FOUR, lovely from Rahane. He was itching to smack a few, ventures out and engineers some room to lift it over extra cover. No half-measures at all this time

4

Bishoo to Rahane, FOUR, missed out on the first occasion but not this time. He's too good a player, Bishoo errs in line and spears it down leg, Rahane goes low and helps it on its way with a swivel-pull. Beats the man at 45 comfortably

W

to Dhawan, out Stumped!! has his man. Loss of concentration from Dhawan. This was much fuller, dipped, drifted and turned past a poking Dhawan's willow. He dragged his back leg and the keeper does the rest. is pumped. Yet again, the Delhi batsman misses out on a hundred. He walks off disappointed. He took off his helmet and wore a cap. Turned out to be a bad omen, nonetheless, this wicket will lift the morale for the West Indies. Dhawan st Shai Hope b 63(59) [4s-10]

4

Cummins to Rahane, FOUR, Rahane brings up his fifty in style. Sees the width on offer, goes deep and slices it with a lot of bottom hand behind point. No chance for the third man fielder. Back-to-back half-centure for the Mumbai batsman. Raises his bat to soak in the applause

4

Bishoo to Rahane, FOUR, slam-bang slog-sweep this. He was well on top of it. Read the line and length, picked it from outside off and scorched it through mid-wicket

4

Bishoo to Rahane, FOUR, now nurdles a push through covers. Just about that. Yes the ball is pitched too full but try blaming Rahane's bat. Class

6

Cummins to Rahane, SIX, so good was Rahane on the pull that Darren Ganga mistakes him for Kohli on air. Already hinged on the back foot, and with the ball around his right shoulder, he unleashes one out here. Right on top and gets it over the leg infield

4

Cummins to Rahane, FOUR, this was more like a swivel pull. Turned the torso more and kept it down through backward square. Gets to 78* -- his highest score vs Windies

4

Bishoo to Rahane, FOUR, just wide of cover. Slaps at the width but looked a tad early. Air-borne, the fielder tumbled to his right, one-handed, but couldn't hold on

OT

Cummins to Rahane, leg byes, 1 run, caught on the shuffle. A loud appeal and do West Indies review this? Yes they have. Looks to have pinned Rahane in front of leg-stump and it's headed down with the angle. Definitely no bat, as the slowmo replays and snicko suggest; the ball completely beat the inside of that flick there. Just some skid off the deck. Ball-tracking has it as just clipping leg-stump and the on-field decision stays. Windies lose the review. And then there was a runout attempt at the bowler's end too. Rahane was quick but you never know, with all those distractions of the appeal

4

Bishoo to Kohli, FOUR, woah, quite a shot. Uses his bottom hand on this loft over extra cover. Muscled it away

4

Bishoo to Kohli, FOUR, a slide at third man but for the cameras. Kohli and his class. He's on the back foot, so is able to play this leg break very late. Allows it to turn and then dabs it off the keeper's gloves

4

Cummins to Rahane, FOUR, India's 29-year-old intern has a century! Guess with the opening slot deservedly belonging to Rohit Sharma, he will have to keep making runs. And keep waiting, like he has. And gets to his ton with a cover drive, the best of them all. Becomes the second India opener to makes a 100 in the West Indies. *Three claps and a whistle*

W

Cummins to Rahane, out Bowled!! This is not Rahane. Just not him. In a bid to up the ante, he's slogged through the line of a ball here. Just did that to a ball not there -- it was shorter than he wanted. Missed and the ball shaved the off-stump. Nobody was even aware that he's been bowled, least so Rahane. Rahane b Cummins 103(104) [4s-10 6s-2]

6

Joseph to Kohli, SIX, launches it. On his front foot to murder a cover drive away. Leaned across and never intended to keep it along the ground. The width allowed him to swing through

W

Joseph to Hardik Pandya, out Caught by Miguel Cummins!! Pandya has had a five-minute feature film here. Edged it behind first ball, only for Joseph to overstep. And now has been caught at third man, the same region he's miscued whatever he has connected today. And to the same bowler who offered him a lifeline with a no-ball. And in the same over. Threw his hands at the width and all he does is slice it down third man's throat. Make it his chest. Hardik Pandya c Miguel Cummins b Joseph 4(5)

4

Joseph to Yuvraj, FOUR, might just be deliberate. I think it is, as much as his form tries to sway me otherwise. Waits and cuts it so, so late that he's played it much finer of the third man in place. Bishoo covers good ground with a dive but Yuvi played it so well

OT

Cummins to Kohli, 1 run, 43rd ODI fifty for Kohli. Just realized that he has more of them than years. Works a full toss to long-on and runs

4

Cummins to Kohli, FOUR, clow cutter, on a good length, and what VK has done is delayed his shot here. Is able to steer the punch through backward point, evading the fielder in the deep

6

Cummins to Kohli, SIX, Dhoni who? He's helicoptered one over cow corner. A shot hijacked by his bottom hand. Right in the slot. Fullish, around off-stump and Kohli's feet didn't move an inch as his hands traced an arc. The Dhoni arc

W

to Yuvraj, out Caught by Shai Hope!! Yuvraj Singh walks back on 14 in his 300th ODI for India. And those 300 ODIs showed in the footwork here. None of it. Tired legs. Threw his hands on a drive, when even the length wasn't there. Yes, there to be driven on the up but it was wide, out of Yuvi's reach and he's edged one behind to the keeper. The ball just might have straightened off the seam. But only just. A tighter line and Yuvraj might have negotiated it with aplomb. Not to be. Decided to drive his way to doom. Yuvraj c Shai Hope b 14(10) [4s-1]

4

to Kohli, FOUR, ways to deal a slow bouncer -- the Virat Kohli way 006. Waits and ramps it over the keeper's head

6

Joseph to Kohli, SIX, this is a sight-screen marauder. Picks the ball from outside off and swings through the line. Nothing else matters. Kohli hits a six straight down the ground

6

to Kohli, SIX, umm, a full toss. He's clobbered it over deep mid-wicket. What else do you do if you are Virat Kohli?

W

Joseph to Kohli, out Caught by Nurse!! All the more reason to believe the Australians: Kohli falls on 87. And in such a warm blood of form. Tried an encore of the helicopter shot he'd cleared the playing area with earlier. Couldn't quite. A cutter this, Kohli got it off the toe end and found long-off. A good innings nonetheless. Kohli c Nurse b Joseph 87(66) [4s-4 6s-4]

4

to Kedar Jadhav, FOUR, wasn't it above the waist there, that full toss? Certainly. Kedar Jadhav hacked an uppish cut there and got a one-bounce four through third man

4

to Dhoni, no ball, FOUR, is seeing Dhoni at least 2 feet taller. This one's at his chest, this full toss. And Dhoni has managed to pull it through fine leg, thanks to 's pace. Or the lack of it

4

to Kedar Jadhav, no ball, FOUR, has been taken out of the attack for bowling beamers. Bowls another no-ball that's at Kedar Jadhav's chest. Yes, the batsman archs back and ramps it away for a boundary but that was a dangerous delivery. So goes, mistaking Dhoni to be batting on struts. He wasn't
