4

to Dickwella, FOUR, that's Dickwella's strength. Can't bowl on the pads to him. errs with his first delivery and is picked away backward of square, just a flick of the wrist from Dickwella to collect his first boundary

4

to Dickwella, FOUR, once more is too straight in his line, on off and middle, Dickwella flicks it over mid-wicket and the timing was good enough to bring him his second boundary

4

Thakur to Dickwella, FOUR, the margin for error against Dickwella is minimal. This was fraction short and on off, Dickwella hangs back, swivels on one leg and places the pull behind square leg. Looking dangerous

W

Thakur to Dickwella, out Caught by Dhoni!! That was a superb review. Got to hand it to Dhoni for hearing something amidst all the sound the crowd are making. He was absolutely sure and went up immediately, the umpire thought it was a bluff and signalled a wide. Kohli took Dhoni's word and challenged the decision. UltraEdge shows a mark and Dickwella has to walk back. Short delivery down leg, Dickwella was attempting to help it along the way, the ball brushed the glove on the way to Dhoni. A lucky breakthrough for Thakur, but it is his first in ODIs and he will remember it for a long time. Dickwella c Dhoni b Thakur 14(11) [4s-3]

OT

to Munaweera, 1 run, touch fuller than the previous deliveries, Munaweera is not fully forward as he aims to drive, the ball squirts off the inside edge towards square leg. Pandya takes his own time to throw by which time Mendis is in

W

to Munaweera, out Kusal Mendis Run Out!! Big wicket this. Needless though. There was never a single and Mendis was sent back late. Good length ball around off, Munaweera defends towards point and takes a step out, Mendis was halfway down before Munaweera put his hand up, Rahul ran to his right and got a good bounce, takes aim and strikes the stumps at the bowler's end. Mendis knew he was a goner. Rahul and Pandya celebrate the wicket with a dab. Kusal Mendis run out (Rahul) 1(7)

4

Thakur to Thirimanne, FOUR, the form showing in that drive from Thirimanne. Nothing much wrong with the delivery, good length ball outside off, Thirimanne drives on the up and pierces the off-side field

4

to Munaweera, FOUR, fraction fuller and that allowed Munaweera to lift the ball over mid-off's head. Not off the middle and the ball plugged in the outfield as well, but had enough to reach the rope

W

to Munaweera, out Caught by Dhoni!! Can you believe it? Two batsmen strangled down leg in the same innings. I have not seen that for a long time. Short ball angled down leg, Munaweera walked away and was cramped for room, he then tried to adjust and glance it fine, but all he could manage was a glove to Dhoni. There was a sound as ball passed Munaweera, but umpire Reiffel was not convinced. Dhoni and Kohli referred it upstairs and got it overturned. India's DRS success rate exceeds exceptionally when Dhoni is behind the stumps. Sri Lanka in trouble now. Munaweera c Dhoni b 11(24) [4s-1]

4

to Mathews, FOUR, strays on the pads, again. Mathews shuffles across to get inside the line and clips it backward of square, the timing takes care of beating the man from deep mid-wicket

4

to Mathews, FOUR, not in control of this one, but Mathews will collect four more. Another one down leg, Mathews hops and gets more of a leading edge past short fine leg

6

Pandya to Thirimanne, SIX, Thirimanne was not in control, but the ball still sailed a long way over fine leg. Short delivery that hurried onto Thirimanne, who instinctively went for the pull and the top edge flies away

W

Pandya to Thirimanne, out Caught by Dhawan!! Thirimanne can't believe that he's picked out the fielder. Not a wicket taking delivery. Short and wide outside off, Thirimanne hops and slashes the cut uppishly, Dhawan from sweeper covers good ground and takes a good catch. The slap of the thigh from Dhawan after he completed the catch. He could have hit that anywhere and instead Thirimanne has found the fielder. Sri Lanka slip further. Thirimanne c Dhawan b Pandya 18(27) [4s-1 6s-1]

4

Yadav to Mathews, FOUR, gift from Yadav and Mathews accepts. Full toss just outside off, Mathews relies on placing the drive and he beats the dive from the cover fielder

4

Pandya to Siriwardana, FOUR, short and outside off, sat up nicely for Siriwardana, who camps on the back foot and crashes it square on the off-side. Dhawan had no chance of getting across this time

4

Pandya to Mathews, FOUR, Mathews is good with the pull shot. Banged in halfway and there was not much pace to trouble Mathews, who gets into position and rolls his wrists over the pull shot, struck it well in front of square

6

Yadav to Siriwardana, SIX, Sri Lanka need more of these. Siriwardana skips down the track and sends it sailing over long-on for a huge six

4

to Mathews, FOUR, Hardik Pandya gives chase and tries to pull the ball back with a dive, but the ball manages to dribble over the ropes at long-on. This was in the air for eternity. But there was no fielder stationed in the deep, hence the ball falls to ground and rolls away

4

to Siriwardana, FOUR, poor delivery and gets the treatment it deserved. Siriwardana rocks on the back foot and pulls it wide of deep backward square leg. Into the fence in a jiffy

4

Pandya to Mathews, FOUR, not the ideal ball to bowl at that pace. Short delivery sits up nicely to be pulled. Mathews picks his spot and nails it to deep mid-wicket

4

Pandya to Siriwardana, FOUR, Pandya is struggling with his length. It is short and wide asking to be hit. Siriwardana gets on top of the bounce and smokes it to deep extra cover

4

to Mathews, FOUR, Patel darts it on the pads. Mathews gets a tickle on the flick and it races away down to the fine leg fence

6

Pandya to Siriwardana, SIX, well nothing has changed. angles it into the pads. Siriwardana picks it up off the pads and helps it over deep mid-wicket

W

Pandya to Siriwardana, out Caught by Dhoni!! He has nicked it! Oh wait, the umpires are checking for the no-ball. Looks like Pandya has got some part of his boot inside the popping crease and Siriwardana has to walk. A lazy shot from the batsman. It was full and wide outside off. Siriwardana doesn't get to the pitch of the ball and drives away from the body. Gets a thick outside edge to Dhoni, who completes the formalities behind the stumps. Siriwardana c Dhoni b Pandya 39(43) [4s-3 6s-2]

OT

Thakur to Mathews, 1 run, width on offer outside off, Mathews cuts it to point and gets to yet another fifty. He is battling alone. Crowd applaud his effort

4

Thakur to Mathews, FOUR, Mathews charges down the wicket and goes full monty. Drills it to the left of mid-on, who had no chance to get across and cut that. Rockets to the fence

4

to Wanidu Hasaranga, FOUR, two boundaries in two balls for Sri Lanka. Wanidu Hasaranga sinks low and slog sweeps it to deep mid-wicket. The ball lands just inside the boundary rope and bounces over

4

to Wanidu Hasaranga, FOUR, gets into position quickly on seeing the flight and slogsweeps it for a one-bounce four over mid-wicket

6

to Wanidu Hasaranga, SIX, he is second guessing here; knows he ain't trying to turn the ball. Skates out of his crease, sees the flatter trajectory and smokes it straight down the ground for a maximum

4

to Mathews, FOUR, Mathews wants to have some fun now. Down on one knee and dispatches Patel over mid-wicket; terrific timing on the slogsweep

W

to Mathews, out Wanidu Hasaranga Run Out!! Mathews was looking for a strike-retaining single; doesn't get enough width to flash one into the gaps. Just pushes it straight to Bumrah at mid-wicket, Wanidu Hasaranga was backing up too far from his crease. Sent back and even the dive couldn't save him. Good throw from Bumrah, kept his composure and hurled it just beside the stumps. Mathews seemed disappointed, a belated signal to his partner that there was never a run there. Wanidu Hasaranga run out (Bumrah/) 22(22) [4s-2 6s-1]

4

to Mathews, FOUR, spots 's movement with the arm and nails the sweep through square leg

W

to Mathews, out Caught by SN Thakur!! Bowls it wide of off stump making Mathews fetch from that far; tries to mow it into the leg-side and gets a big edge which goes straight into the hands of short third man. Mathews c SN Thakur b 70(80) [4s-10]

OT

Yadav to Pushpakumara, no run, run out chance missed! Knocked to the left of square leg where Shardul Thakur collects sharply to send a rapid throw to Yadav. Dananjaya was half way down the pitch and would have been gone had gathered cleanly. It came quite low making the bounce awkward, that could be the only issue

W

to Pushpakumara, out Caught by Hardik Pandya!! Another one, dug hard into the pitch, the extra bounce always creates problems. As it did in this case; Pushpakumara was on his heels, looking to ramp it over third man, but instead he sends it straight down to that fielder. Pandya barely moved an inch. Pushpakumara c Hardik Pandya b 3(18)

4

to Dananjaya, FOUR, clears his front leg and clobbers the ball straigh past the non-striker. Picked the length early and threw everything at it

4

Yadav to Vishwa Fernando, FOUR, right in the swinging zone, didn't come back enough, Fernando gets underneath the flight and lofts him inside out over extra cover

W

Yadav to Vishwa Fernando, out Caught&Bowled!! Tosses it up generously, invites the drive and takes a simple catch. Fernando shapes up for a biggie straight down the ground, couldn't get underneath and chips the simplest of catches back to the bowler. India, just one away. Vishwa Fernando c and b Yadav 5(4) [4s-1]

W

Yadav to Malinga, out Bowled!! Knocked him over. India win by 168 runs. Sri Lanka's biggest defeat - in terms of runs at home in ODIs. Malinga exposes all three and swings his bat in all possible directions. Only he must know where he was intending to hit. Misses by a country mile and sees his country stoop to its biggest defeat. Malinga b Yadav 0(1)

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, first ball, doesn't matter. Dhawan sees a wide half-volley and he lays into it. Drills the ball past a diving cover for four

W

Fernando to Dhawan, out Caught by Pushpakumara!! Dhawan throws his hands so hard on the ball that his thick outside edge carries all the way to third man. Fernando is pumped. It was a full, wide delivery and Dhawan just flung his hands at it, but the little bit of outswing meant that he couldn't quite middle it. Pushpakumara is standing a few yards inside the boundary, and he moves smoothly to his right to take it comfortably. Dhawan c Pushpakumara b Fernando 4(6) [4s-1]

4

Fernando to Kohli, FOUR, pitched up outside off, Kohli leans into the ball and drives through the covers. Didn't really get his foot across that much, just trusted his hands and eyes

4

Fernando to Kohli, FOUR, now an off-drive. This one's further devoid of risk as the ball is closer to off and Kohli handsomely drives the ball past a diving mid-off. Lovely timing

4

Fernando to Kohli, FOUR, this is just glorious! Three consecutive full balls that Kohli has dispatched to the boundary, and all three have been timed beautifully. Even closer to off from Fernando, and Kohli languidly picks it away through mid-wicket

4

to Kohli, FOUR, steps out to the pitch of the ball and flicks it away through mid-wicket. He's come out very positive, looking to take the bowling on, and yet there's very little risk in what he does

4

Fernando to Kohli, FOUR, very proactive with his footwork since he's come out. Takes a couple of steps down the pitch and converts the ball into a low full toss, and then it's a simple roll of the wrists to split mid-on and mid-wicket

4

Fernando to Kohli, FOUR, watch out for Kohli. He seems to be in the mood. Another glorious off-drive straight of mid-off. The timing is impeccable again. He's making his own length by walking towards the bowler. But admittedly, this was too full from Fernando anyway

4

to Rohit, FOUR, the ease with which he clears the field is frightening. Not quite a full ball, closer to a good length if anything, but Rohit just hits through the line over extra-cover. It drops merely a metre short of the ropes

OT

to Kohli, no run, with this pair, the possibility of a run-out can never be discarded. But a superb dive from Kohli sees him home. Drifting in on middle, Kohli clips to the left of backward square and seeks a single. Rohit responds initially but then stops to leave Kohli in big trouble. But what athleticism from the Indian captain to turn around and then throw himself. Most times, the batsman will find himself short from Kohli's position

6

to Rohit, SIX, dispatched off the front foot! At 117kph, simply can't bowl short. This delivery might not have been all that short either, but with the pitch being a beauty, Rohit can trust the bounce of it. He nails the pull over mid-wicket

4

to Kohli, FOUR, whipped with tremendous force back down the pitch, and the ball deflects off the outside of the stump to the long-on boundary. It's too full from , just too full. But what power off Kohli's wrists

4

to Kohli, FOUR, now that's not good in the field. It wasn't the most straightforward stop with the fielder having to dive to his left, but it still should have been stopped. Instead, Kohli's cover-drive slips through the infield into the boundary

4

to Kohli, FOUR, for once, Kohli picks a streaky boundary. He was surprised by the bumper, and despite his best efforts to get his wrists on top of it, he's in no control whatsoever and it deflects off a thick top-edge into the fine leg boundary. Took his eyes off the ball there

OT

to Kohli, 1 run, dabs the slower ball in front of backward point and ambles across for a quick single. This single also brings up his half-century. Can't keep him out of the runs for too long in this format. And what a delight it's been to watch him bat in full flow today

4

Hasaranga to Kohli, FOUR, 2000 ODI runs against Sri Lanka for Virat Kohli. And he gets there with a deft touch out of the keeper's gloves. Waited for the ball and played it late to ensure that he dabs it fine enough. He's toying with them right now

4

to Rohit, FOUR, he has tried a carrom ball, but has dropped it so short that Rohit has enough time to get under it even after coming down the track. Swatted away wide of long-on

6

to Rohit, SIX, now a conventional off-break, Rohit sizes it up while sitting on the back knee and wallops it over deep mid-wicket. Ominous signs for Sri Lanka

4

Hasaranga to Kohli, FOUR, overpitched around off, and it's met with a trademark Virat drive. Whips the cover-drive through extra-cover for four

4

Hasaranga to Kohli, FOUR, poor. Very, very poor. A rank half-tracker from Hasaranga, and that's just too easy. Kohli nonchalantly pulls it over mid-wicket for four

6

to Kohli, SIX, races to the pitch of the ball and lofts it over long-on. What an innings this has been from Kohli. Absolute class

4

to Rohit, FOUR, the outside edge runs away for four. Sri Lanka bleeding from all corners. Flighted ball, just a wee bit of turn and it takes Rohit's edge as he lazily tries to drive through cover. No slip in place, not with the way this partnership is going, and it leads to frustration for

4

to Rohit, FOUR, flighted full ball, right in the slot for Rohit. He drills it over extra-cover for four. Sri Lanka don't have too many answers right now. Even their best bowler is looking clueless

OT

to Rohit, 1 run, eases the ball to long-on and brings up his half-century. He has gone past fifty three times this series

4

to Rohit, FOUR, cut away through point. Slightly short from and Rohit is quick to take toll

4

to Kohli, FOUR, typical Kohli shot. Uses his wrists to split the gap on the on-side. Whips the full delivery off the pads and sends it to the cow corner fence

OT

to Kohli, 1 run, 150-run stand comes up between these two. Kohli wrists it to deep mid-wicket for a run

4

to Rohit, FOUR, does it so easily. Makes room and cuts it towards point. The man in the deep had no chance of stopping that

6

to Rohit, SIX, this is even better. Wasn't a bad ball, but Rohit is in that kind of form. Just a chip over cover after stepping. Timing it so well as the ball goes over the boundary rope

4

to Kohli, FOUR, what a way to get to his 29th ODI hundred. Whips it away into the on-side without any feet movement. That almost carried over the ropes. Bounces once and hits the ad boards. Kohli raises his bat to the crowd and soaks in the applause. What a knock this has been. Authoritative!

4

to Rohit, FOUR, width on offer outside off. Rohit looks to drive. The ball catches the outside edge and rolls past the diving short third man fielder and into the fence

6

Fernando to Kohli, SIX, Kohli greets Fernando with a thumping six over long-off. Stays leg-side and hits it through the line. A clean swing of the bat and it sails well over the ropes

4

Fernando to Kohli, FOUR, Kohli has been making batting look ridiculously easy with his timing and placements. Full delivery on the pads, he clips it wide of mid-wicket and collects his 15th boundary

OT

Fernando to Kohli, 1 run, 200 of the partnership comes up with that in just 154 deliveries. A misfield from the stand-in skipper at mid-on allows Kohli to steal a run

4

Fernando to Kohli, FOUR, juicy full toss and Kohli won't miss out on that. Skips down the track and swats it to deep mid-wicket. Looked like Fernando tried the slower delivery. Ended up gifting Kohli another boundary

4

to Kohli, FOUR, its getting bad to worse from the Sri Lankan point of view. That shouldn't have been more than a single. The fielder gets to the ball at deep mid-wicket and lets it slip under his hands. Kohli whips it over mid-wicket and collects four more

4

to Rohit, FOUR, classy from Rohit. Hits it against the turn. Presents the full face of the bat and chips it over the infield. A couple of bounces and into the fence long-on fence

W

to Kohli, out Caught by Munaweera!! Wicket number 300 for . Took him a while to reach the landmark. Only his second wicket in the series too. The change of willow hasn't worked for Kohli. Hits it very well, but finds the fielder. This was just short of a yorker. Kohli gets under the ball and nails it to sweeper cover. Munaweera didn't have to move an inch to pouch that. Rohit Sharma acknowledges the milestone of his Mumbai team mate with a hug. Kohli c Munaweera b 131(96) [4s-17 6s-2]

4

to Rohit, FOUR, a gift from . Full toss on the pads. Rohit flicks it to deep mid-wicket and there is no protection in the deep. Runs away to the fence

4

to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, now steps down the line and hits straight down the ground. Long-off did not have much to cover but could not reach there in time

OT

to Hardik Pandya, no run, Hardik Pandya, like mentioned already, stepped down but failed to reach the pitch. Then tried to quell in a hurry but the ball popped up to short leg off the pads. The appeal was acknowledged only for the third umpire to rule it in Hardik Pandya's favour

6

to Hardik Pandya, SIX, the wrong 'un and now he gets it in his radar. Slogs across the line and hits well over the deep mid-wicket region. Big hit

4

to Rohit, FOUR, 13th ODI ton for Rohit. All smiles. First Indian to hit back to back hundreds against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. Got a full toss and punched it past the man at mid-on to get there

4

to Rohit, FOUR, not off the middle but that actually ended up helping him. A short ball going down leg. Rohit, compulsively, goes for the pull and hits off something which was definitely not the meat of the willow. Dickwella had to get to his left like light to stop that... did not happen. Races to fine leg

D

to Hardik Pandya, no run, Dananjaya drops Hardik Pandya extra cover. A fuller ball outside off and Hardik Pandya cracks it, loses the grip of the bat to take the power of the shot. Finds the fielder as well. But it's that kind of a day for the Lankans

W

to Hardik Pandya, out Caught by Wanidu Hasaranga!! Hardik Pandya got a million chances today. But he was in no mood to cash in. Finally the luck decides to switch sides. A short ball that was high and wide enough to negate the pull shot. But Hardik Pandya had other ideas, took his chance to fetch it from there. Got off the toe - I am guessing because he was staring at the bottom of the bat after - and found the fielder at deep mid-wicket. Oh, it was a slow bouncer so needed to put much more power than he could in the end. Hardik Pandya c Wanidu Hasaranga b 19(18) [4s-1 6s-1]

W

to Rohit, out Caught by Dickwella!! Now the centurion walks back. These slower deliveries are working well for . Short one, cramped Rohit a bit. He wanted to guide it over the keeper, got a feather to the keeper. Two wickets in two balls and Sri Lanka are back in it for a while at least. Also chances of India getting 400 are bleak now. Rohit c Dickwella b 104(88) [4s-11 6s-3]

W

to Rahul, out Caught by Wanidu Hasaranga!! Rahul's string of bad form continues. Once again gets him - third successive time. The move to give him his last over has done wonders. Rahul failed to read the turn perhaps, played the flick too early when he should have waited. Ended up chipping to mid-wicket for an easy reverse-cupped grab. Rahul c Wanidu Hasaranga b 7(8)

4

to Dhoni, leg byes, FOUR, lot of things happening there. Dhoni wants to turn it away, gets off the pad to short leg. There is a loud appeal but the umpire is not interested. The fielder senses Pandey is out of the crease at the other end and throws there, misses the target and the ball races to the face unchallenged

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, first boundary after seven overs. Stepped down and took it on the full; flicked through mid-wicket to beat a dive in the deep

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, too short and he has got the fine leg inside the ring. Pandey goes back and pulls over the fielder there

4

to Dhoni, FOUR, did he get some bat there? Yes! Fired down leg and Dhoni helps with a paddle that comes naturally only to him

4

to Dhoni, FOUR, misses the length by a bit and that is enough for Dhoni. Muscles over the bowler's head and bisects long-on and long-off with precision

4

Fernando to M Pandey, FOUR, that's delicate. Uses the angle and then fences it between the keeper and the short third man. Used the pace on it to guide away. Did not quite fence

4

to Dhoni, FOUR, now he approaches with his little trigger movement and then lofts over extra cover. Just about clears the fence there. Hitting the fence on the half-volley

4

Fernando to M Pandey, FOUR, Pandey clears the front leg and lofts inside-out over extra cover to beat sweeper to his right

D

to Dhoni, 1 run, Munaweera drops Dhoni. That's criminal. Dhoni got across to this slower ball to send it out of Colombo. Sliced off the outer part of the blade and skied wide of backward point. Three fielders approached it, including the keeper. But Munaweera seemed to have called, only to shell out in the end

6

to Dhoni, SIX, this has gone out of here. Munaweera's drop will haunt him more now. Got across and found the ball in his zone. Was a slower delivery as well. Clubbed over the deep mid-wicket fence for a maximum

4

Fernando to Dhoni, FOUR, mishit! Only if you saw Dhoni rotate himself on the shot. Was a full toss. Dhoni wanted to crack it through mid-wicket, got off the higher part of the bat to beat extra cover

4

to Dhoni, FOUR, triggers across to cover the widish angle. Inside outs over the extra cover region and long-off has no chance to his left

OT

to Dhoni, 1 run, fuller ball outside off. Dhoni gets across and wrists the drive down to long-on. Wants two but Pandey sends him back

OT

to M Pandey, 1 run, fifty for Pandey but he will be disappointed to have missed out on the full toss. Could only whip it to deep mid-wicket
