All|Overs 1-50
4

to Rohit, FOUR, that should calm the nerves. shortens the length and offers a bit of space outside off, Rohit stands tall and presents a straight bat to punch it through cover-point. No one bothered to chase that

6

to Rohit, SIX, so pleasing to the eyes. He missed one early in the over, not this time though. drifted onto the pads, Rohit picked him off nonchalantly over mid-wicket. The timing was such that it traveled the distance

4

Fernando to Dhawan, FOUR, Fernando takes a leaf out of Malinga's manual. A gentle length delivery on the legs, Dhawan hangs back and tucks it neatly backward of square, the timing took care of the rest

4

Fernando to Rohit, FOUR, nothing much wrong with the delivery, just the class of Rohit fetches him a boundary. Short of length and on off, Rohit short-arm pulls it through the vacant mid-wicket region and timing is never an issue with him

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, the runs are flowing far too easily. Very full delivery outside off, Dhawan crouches low and is almost on knee as he slices the drive along the ground past the diving backward point fielder. No chance for third man

4

to Rohit, FOUR, these two have played a lot of cricket together and know each others game pretty well. has switched his line just outside off to Rohit from the last over, but this time he overpitches and Rohit tonks him over mid-off for a one bounce four

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, the attempted slower yorker, ends up as a dipping full toss, Dhawan is not committed to the shot, waits for the ball before clipping it backward of square. has a wry smile on his face

4

to Rohit, FOUR, class! shortens the length and Rohit is all over it. The line was just outside off, Rohit stands tall and punches it in front of square. The textbook style punch - straight bat, high elbows and more importantly in the gap

6

to Rohit, SIX, arrogance! was a bit too predictable with his length, once more short of length just outside off, Rohit shuffled across, crouched low and scooped it over fine leg. The pace of taking it for a maximum

6

to Rohit, SIX, four dot balls and then two sixes. Ruins the over completely for . Short and outside off, Rohit's eyes widened on seeing the width and he flashed hard, the thickish outside edge carried the ball over the third man fence

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, it had been a while since Dhawan had scored a boundary and you could sense he was feeling a bit itchy, this should release any pressure on him. Short and just outside off, Dhawan cuts it hard into the surface and the ball bounces over the backward point fielder

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, fabulous shot! Never easy to hit against the spin. Dhawan jumped out of the crease and got close to the pitch of the ball, the bottom hand then takes over to whip it wide of mid-on

4

to Dhawan, FOUR, the inexperience of showing. Once again he became predictable with his length, short of length and angled into the batsman, Dhawan swivels with his front foot in the air and nails the pull in front of square. Giving deep square leg no chance

OT

to Rohit, 1 run, fifty for Rohit. Only his second in 23 innings in Sri Lanka. The captain applauds from the dressing room. Reaches the landmark with a punch down to long-on

4

to Rohit, FOUR, boundary to end the over. slides down leg, Rohit sinks to one knee and helps it along the way with a powerful sweep shot. No one in the deep to stop that

6

to Dhawan, SIX, lovely shot! For the second time Dhawan has hit against the spin. Flighted delivery and Dhawan shimmied down the wicket, isn't to the pitch but still goes through with the loft. Right off the middle and over long-on

W

to Rohit, out Lbw!! A much needed wicket for Sri Lanka. At least gets the fans going. Rohit was struggling to pick and sweep is not one of his preferred shots. It was the leg-break from that landed on a fullish length, Rohit went down to sweep and missed it completely. He was struck in front of middle and the only thing that could have saved him was if the ball had pitched outside leg, it didn't and a very good decision from umpire Ranmore Martinesz. Rohit lbw b 54(45) [4s-5 6s-3]

W

to Dhawan, out Caught by Mathews!! Stunner from Mathews. Injury concerns? Does not seem like it, especially after this blinder. This was the Mathews of the old. Remember the 2009 T20 WC, him flying over the boundary rope to flick a ball in. It was as electrifying as that. Tossed up delivery on the stumps, Dhawan goes down to sweep and gets it off the base of the bat towards backward square. Mathews from short fine, sprints forward and then flies parallel to the ground to take it inches from the ground. He was ecstatic after hanging on. Throws the ball up and is mobbed by his mates. Sri Lanka have an opening now. Dhawan c Mathews b 49(50) [4s-6 6s-1]

W

to Kedar Jadhav, out Bowled!! Three wickets in quick time for Sri Lanka and they are back in it. No one seems to be picking . It is Ajantha Mendis all over again. The googly that pitches and skids across the surface, Jadhav hangs back and has no clue what the ball would do, just hangs his bat away from the body in a hope, is beaten on the inside edge and the ball crashes into middle stump. The fans are up on their feet in anticipation. Kedar Jadhav b 1(3)

4

to Kohli, FOUR, horrible delivery from . Rank long hop and it was turning down leg, the wrong 'un it was and Kohli waited for it before pulling it along the ground past mid-wicket

W

to Kohli, out Bowled!! Someone catch . He's off on a run. This is one heck of a spell. Looks all too familiar when India played Mendis and had no idea as to what he was bowling. The googly does the job once more, on a driveable length and Kohli obliged, the ball spun back in to sneak through the bat and pad to hit the middle stump. Kohli first has a look at the wicket and then at Rahul as if gesturing what he did wrong there. The trumpets are out and so are the voices. Kohli b 4(2) [4s-1]

W

to Rahul, out Bowled!! Wow! Another batsman has been castled. The aeroplane like celebration from . Sri Lanka are cock-a-hoop. They run towards the hero who has just put them ahead in this game. From 109/0 to 119/5, this was the miraculous collapse I was referring to during the drinks break. Rahul like his mates does not pick the googly, pushes at it and the ball beats the inside edge, brushes the pad and deflects onto the stumps. India need someone to play properly if they have to win this. Rahul b 4(6)

W

to Hardik Pandya, out Stumped!! Fifer for . Take a bow champ! Has completely turned the game around and more importantly got the crowd back into the game. The umpires check for a possible no-ball, but 's foot was well behind the line. Duck for Pandya and India slip further. That was the second ball Pandya was facing off and he advanced down to get to pitch, is nowhere close to the ball as it dips in front of him, beats him on the inside edge and Dickwella does the rest. Hardik Pandya st Dickwella b 0(3)

W

to Axar, out Lbw!! Sixth wicket. Sri Lanka are running away with the game. Scratch that. is running away with the game. Glum faces in the Indian dressing room. They can't believe what has just happened. The slider and it is the offie, Axar prods forward to defend and is beaten on the inside edge, the ball strikes him on the pad and it would have gone on to hit off and middle. Ball-tracker shows impact umpire's call. So, even if India had the review, it would not have helped Axar. Axar lbw b 6(9)

4

to Dhoni, FOUR, India will hope till Dhoni is out there. Tossed up delivery and Dhoni is quick to skip out of the crease, takes it on the full and whips it past mid-on

OT

to Bhuvneshwar, no run, Sri Lanka review: Bhuvneshwar misses the sweep here. Looks like it pitched on leg-stump here. Snicko suggests that there wasn't any bat. Ball-tracking is in, pitches on leg-stump but the impact is umpire's call on leg-stump. So the original decision stays.

6

to Bhuvneshwar, SIX, now this is a bolt from the blue. Gets into a good position and slog-sweeps it over deep mid-wicket. He picks his moments well, does

4

to Bhuvneshwar, FOUR, good bounce on this leg break and the cut shot beats Malinga at deep cover. Was always going to. How good has Bhuvneshwar been today, eh?

4

to Bhuvneshwar, FOUR, flatter leg break and look what Bhuvneshwar's done. Goes back and hammers it over mid-wicket. Good bat swing there

4

to Bhuvneshwar, FOUR, now that's a glance. Quick but down leg, Bhuvneshwar is quick to shuffle across, getting beside the line and nudging it through to the fine leg fence

4

to Bhuvneshwar, FOUR, full toss on leg-stump and this is a sign, folks. That Sri Lanka are cooked. Glanced to fine leg for a boundary by Bhuvneshwar here; India need only 14 runs

OT

to Bhuvneshwar, 2 runs, maiden ODI fifty for Bhuvi! Raises his bat to the dressing room, as Kohli stands up and applauds the miracle that 'good times' can be. And how Bhuvneshwar gets there? Reaches across and drives through covers, becoming only the second Indian batsman to get a fifty at No.9 in both Tests and ODIs

OT

Fernando to Dhoni, wide, on a day infested with wides down leg, only fair that Sri Lanka bowl one more.. and this time to usher India to a memorable 3-wicket win for a 2-0 lead

4

to Dickwella, FOUR, lofted over the top, sort of a short-arm jab flick from Dickwella. Played this length delivery on the rise and hit it over mid-on for the first boundary of the day

4

to Gunathilaka, FOUR, that's in the airrr, not timed well, but timed well enough to clear Kohli at mid-off and escape for four. goes full and the ball isn't doing much in the air, thus allowing Gunathilaka to loft through the line

4

to Dickwella, FOUR, gee! What a shot! Watchout for this lad when the ball isn't doing much. This wasn't a bad ball at all from . Spotted Dickwella backing away, so followed him with a back of a length with an idea to cramp him for room. Dickwella somehow manufactures room and punches the ball fiercely through the point region

6

to Dickwella, SIX, now then, he's hit that all the way and how effortlessly was it done! This is excellent thinking from Dickwella, read the bowler's mind precisely. With him previously moving to the leg-side to free the off-side, he expected the bowler to bowl a leg stump line yet again and did exactly that. Stood tall to this shortish delivery and whipped it away over the long leg ropes

6

to Dickwella, SIX, how good are those hands? There is something with Sri Lanka, left-handers and the pick-up shots! They make it look so simple. Short of a length delivery angled in, Dickwella uses his bottom hand to great effort and hits the ball in the air, timed well enough to clear the backward square leg fence

4

to Dickwella, FOUR, punched in the gap between cover and cover-point and it runs away, beating Hardik's dive. The interesting thing to note about this boundary is how gingerly did Rohit Sharma move? He wasn't sprinting at all. He was a little sluggish in the previous game as well. Some fitness issue maybe?

W

to Dickwella, out Caught by Dhawan!! Now that is a brilliantly bought wicket by the bowler. 100 out of 100 for for outsmarting the batsman's movement to the leg-side to free his arms. not only took pace off the ball, but also followed Dickwella and followed him so close that he had absolutely no room to play through the off-side. Dickwella is forced to try the leg-side route and all he manages to do is to flick the ball tamely because he didn't read the slower ball from the hand. Dhawan times his jump to perfection at short mid-wicket and takes an overhead catch. So the ominous looking Dickwella is removed. Dickwella c Dhawan b 31(24) [4s-3 6s-2]

4

to Gunathilaka, leg byes, FOUR, another leg-side freebie but Gunathilaka misses out, the ball beats Bumrah's dive at short fine and runs away for four. Off the thigh pad

4

to Gunathilaka, FOUR, 's radar hasn't been accurate this over. With him bowling round the wicket and a man stationed at short fine leg, anything towards middle and leg would be freebies, Gunathilaka glances this leg stump delivery it to the right of Bumrah this time and it goes for four

4

Pandya to Kusal Mendis, FOUR, outside edge and there is no one at slip. It wouldn't have carried though because Mendis played with soft hands. Mendis did open the bat face at the last moment, but this ran away off the edge

4

Pandya to Kusal Mendis, FOUR, in an attempt to bowl a bouncer, Pandya bowls a half-tracker that had a lot of width on it. Mendis rocks back and cracks the cut shot past backward point for four

W

to Gunathilaka, out Stumped!! 99th stumping for MS Dhoni in ODIs - joins hands with Sangakkara for the most number of stumpings record. He actually fumbled on the first attempt, luckily the ball didn't go too far away from him, but the batsman did. Gunathilaka stepped out a long way, yorked himself to this flighted delivery delivery, missed, Dhoni was blinded a wee bit by the batsman, but managed to grab the rebound and break the bails. A sedate innings comes to an end from Gunathilaka. Gunathilaka st Dhoni b 19(37) [4s-2]

4

to Tharanga, FOUR, full toss and Dhoni immediately went "Naah, Naah" - (meaning No, No in Hindi). Tharanga drives through cover as he accepts the gift, off the mark straightaway

4

to Tharanga, FOUR, that's nicely late-cut by the batsman as drops it short and quick outside off stump, no third man and it was always a four when it was hit well wide of backward point

W

Pandya to Tharanga, out Caught by Kohli!! The bouncer is followed by a normal length ball and there comes the outside edge. Goes straight to second slip and India have their third. Oh please. The cricket world cannot afford to see another collapse! Tharanga's feet were glued, played away from the body, pushed at it and nicked off to his counterpart. By the way, this was a scrambled seamer from Pandya and probably it left the batsman at the last moment. Tharanga c Kohli b Pandya 9(7) [4s-2]

4

Pandya to Mathews, FOUR, pushes the drive this time. Not a drive in complete sense. More of a push but manages to bisect Pandya and mid-on. Was in the air for a while but away from the reach of the fielder

W

to Kusal Mendis, out Lbw!! This was coming. For long now Kusal Mendis was sweeping those full balls and getting away. Especially against Axar where the ball came quickly and hence the bat speed took care of that. In 's case, the ball is devoid of the pace and the sweep is a bit early. The bat goes over the ball and it pings him right in front of off and middle. The umpire rules it in favour of the bowler immediately. To make things worse for the Lankans, Kusal Mendis takes the review back with him. Kusal Mendis lbw b 19(48) [4s-2]

4

to Siriwardana, FOUR, played it nicely. Waited for this one outside off and then late-cut it past the man at short third man. The pace of did the rest

4

Pandya to Mathews, FOUR, there is a vast space at mid-wicket and it comfortably goes through that region. Was in the air for a long-long time though. Mathews charged down for the swing but the bat turned in his hand. Mathews won't mind the end result though

W

to Mathews, out Lbw!! No review left so Mathews cannot do much, just bow his head down and walk off. Poor shot selection indeed, given the ball he chose to play the sweep. Was a fuller ball around off and came in with the arm a bit. Might have struck him just outside off but Mathews cannot do anything with the verdict. Mendis consumed that after committing a similar mistake. We'll have the replays to confirm how right was the umpire this time. Mathews lbw b 20(41) [4s-2]

4

to Kapugedera, FOUR, this was struck nicely. Short ball and Kapugedera is in position for the pull, hits it well in front of square on the on-side. Bounces just inside the ropes

4

to Siriwardana, FOUR, did not time it well but there is no one in the deep at mid-wicket. Was a short ball and at Bhuvi's pace that is asking for trouble. Siriwardana shaped well and pulled it with rather ease

6

Jadhav to Siriwardana, SIX, that clears the fence. Did not have the bounce on this short ball but Siriwardana adjusted well and almost carved it from the ground before dispatching it over the deep mid-wicket fence with a mighty pull

OT

Jadhav to Siriwardana, 3 runs, what happened there? Whatever it is, Siriwardana has compiled a fifty here. Raises the bat to the dressing room. Firstly, Jadhav bowls it flat outside off, Siriwardana cuts it to point, where the fielder fumbles and allows the pair to steal a second. Axar from sweeper cover collects the ball, fires a throw at the keeper's end. Dhoni fumbled a bit and no proper backing up meant they nab the third

4

to Kapugedera, FOUR, edged! No slip and profitable result for Sri Lanka. Lovely deception from , teased it outside off, Kapugedera goes hard at it and gets a thickish outside edge that flies through the vacant first slip

W

to Siriwardana, out Caught by Rohit!! End of a fantastick knock from Siriwardana. The partnership has been snapped. has made amends immediately. The change of pace has worked for him. Kept bowling the off-cutters and this time it was closer to off, Siriwardana backed his hitting abilites but ended up slicing it to extra cover. Easy catch for Rohit. The bat turned in his hand and that foiled his timing. Also, he had to generate some power there. Siriwardana c Rohit b 58(58) [4s-2 6s-1]

OT

to Kapugedera, 1 run, Kohli goes up for a review for lbw. Fair delivery. Clear inside edge and NOT OUT it is. The yorker at the base of the stumps, Kapugedera tries to squeeze it out, in the process gets an inside edge onto his pads. They pinch a single but Kohli from long-on brought the T-sign and reviewed it

W

to Kapugedera, out Bowled!! There's the boom boom special. Nothing much Kapugedera could do about it. A rip-roaring yorker into the blockhole, Kapugedera was an hour late in bringing his bat down to negotiate it. He fails and the ball crashes into the stumps to light up the LED. Kapugedera b 40(61) [4s-2]

4

to Dananjaya, FOUR, this will do! Audacious from Dananjaya. It was as though he was waiting for it. Cleared his front leg and stayed leg-sidish, banged it short and Dananjaya mows him over mid-wicket. No chance for the fielder at long-on

W

to Dananjaya, out Caught by Axar!! One shot too many for Dananjaya. In a bid to step up the pedal, Dananjaya combusts. The slower balls is doing wonders for . This was on a length around off, Dananjaya swings a tad too early and skews a sitter to mid-off, where Axar pouches it with ease. Dananjaya c Axar b 9(11) [4s-1]
