India have crusaded through the first ODI. Not too many pundits saw this coming. A mismatch like the first T20I. The next stop is at Lord's. Only a day of rest for both the teams but plenty of it for our team. This is Kumar Abhisekh Das signing off on behalf of MS Ramakrishnan, Akshay Maanay, Hariprasad, Sriram and the ever smiling Shashikant Singh!

Kuldeep Yadav, Man of the Match: For me it is a big day. I started off well in the first few overs. Luckily I got a couple of wickets in the first two overs. For me it does not matter if the ground is small. Initially I thought there was a lot of turn and after the first over, I knew I was in the game. If you are bowling in the right areas and you are using the variations perfectly, then it is pretty hard for the batsman. I know they will come back hard at us in the next game. I am hoping for a Test call.

(2/2) Anything is possible with the selections for Tests and there might be a few surprises. Kuldeep is making a strong case for himself and so is Chahal. And looking at the way, the English batsmen have struggled against them, we might be tempted to do it. But the focus now is winning the next two games. Especially the next game looking at it from the series perspective. The weather has been lovely. It has been very welcoming. The crowd support has been brilliant. The tour is really long and there is some tough cricket ahead of us which we are looking forward to.

Virat Kohli: (1/2) As clinical as it can be. We knew it was a good wicket to play on. Those wrist spinners in the middle overs are going to be tricky. Given more overs and more time in the middle, they become even more lethal. When guys are not going hard at them, they have 10 overs and they know they have something to comeback and have the skill to do it. Kuldeep was outstanding. To give away 25 runs and pick up 6 wickets on that kind of a wicket, I don't think I have seen a better spell of bowling in ODIs of late. After that, Rohit batting very long and finishing the game for us. We made a tactical decision (at Bristol) looking at the dimensions of the ground and the breeze flowing into the shorter boundary. When it comes to longer game, you need players to make an impact. These two wrist spinners have been making the difference since they have come in. They did it in South Africa in the middle overs. They remain as our key weapons.

Eoin Morgan: Certainly not our best day out here. Full credit to India as they completely outplayed us. Kuldeep had a very good day at the office. Playing spin against India is one challenge that hopefully we will keep improving upon. But today we were well off the mark. I think both the games there has been more turn than on the grounds that we have played on and that is one thing probably that we have identified. I think Lord's will be different as it won't offer a great deal of turn. But certainly he (Kuldeep) extracted more turn out of this than any other spinner. We need to improve as a side. The seamers on this wicket come on to the bat on this wicket and hence the high scoring nature of the ground. We need to expose our areas of weakness before the WC and this seems to be one of them. And because it is a rare chance to be coming up against two wrist spinners. During the winter, we tour to West Indies and Sri Lanka and this will be good practice for those series.

- England pacers failing to take a wicket in a home ODI (overs) - only the third time it has happened:
27.2 vs SL, Durham, 2006
24.0 vs SL, Leeds, 2006
21.0 vs Ind, Trent Bridge, 2018*

- Second biggest win for India against England in England in terms of balls to spare. Only bigger win came by 117 balls in Edgbaston in 2014 (Target 207).

Most wins after 50 ODIs as captain:
39 C Lloyd/ R Ponting/ V KOHLI
37 H Cronje
36 V Richards
34 S Pollcok
33 Wasim Akram/ Waqar Younis

- Rohit Sharma's 137* is now the highest score by an Indian batsman vs England in England in ODIs. PRE: 107 by Kohli, Cardiff, 2011.

13th July, 2002. Almost 16 years back, India scripted a famous win at Lord's to announce the world that they won't crumble under a chase. And now you see the results. After restricting the hosts for only 268, India have just had a walk in the park to topple it down. 39 wins out of 50 ODIs for Kohli as captain. India continue to be ruthless. A six-for which brought about a hell lot of records also brought down an English batting line up which has been tormenting bowlers for fun. But the script was reversed. India set about their chase with Dhawan being the boundary merchant before he ran down the track, looked to play a swipe and top-edged it for him to pave way for India's number 3. After a lot of hullabaloo it was Kohli who came out and India had the chase under control. Rohit Sharma brought up his 18th ODI ton with his second successive century on the tour. Kohli did get out stumped, 7 years since it last happened, to Rashid. But by then India needed a dawdle and they did it with elan.

Moeen Ali to Rahul, 1 run, inside halves the slog away to deep mid and India bring up a convincing win. This has been a shellacking. India have won this with 8 wickets and 59 balls to spare. It was supposed to be a contest not a mismatch
Moeen Ali to Rahul, wide, spills the half-tracker well down leg and wided

Will KL finish it off? Or will he hand the strike back to Rohit.

Root to Rahul, 1 run, outside off and flighted up, the batsman opens the face of the blade to get a single
Root to Rahul, no run, yorked back to the bowler as it was again too full
Root to Rohit, 1 run, too full and nudged away into the on-side for a single. Only a shot away now
Root to Rohit, 5 wides, a dice rolled along down leg, the keeper had no chance as the bowler tried a seam up delivery which went horribly wrong. Five more added
Root to Rohit, 2 runs, stays back and opens the face of the bat. Before the man at sweeper could get across to his left, they bargain a couple
Root to Rohit, no run, down leg, paddled fine but fails to beat the man at short fine leg
Root to Rohit, no run, flatter ball at the sticks and has been defended

Only 11 needed now..Last over? Joe Root to bowl now. Ravi Shastri seen talking to Kohli. They seem so relaxed.

Moeen Ali to Rahul, no run, walks down a few steps and then tries to nurdle the ball away. Finds the man at mid-wicket
Moeen Ali to Rohit, 1 run, loopy ball and has been driven to long-on
Moeen Ali to Rohit, FOUR, kicks back and pulls the ball away over mid-wicket. That was short, not much but enough for the batsman to pounce on it. Few bounces and into the ropes
Moeen Ali to Rohit, 2 runs, lifts the ball over covers for a couple as the ball again was flighted up. The man at sweeper cover hauled it back
Moeen Ali to Rahul, 1 run, fuller ball and has been on-driven to long-on for a single
Moeen Ali to Rohit, 1 run, pokes the ball out with soft hands into the square region for a single

Moeen Ali [7.0-0-49-1] is back into the attack

Willey to Rohit, 1 run, full delivery and the batsman opened his stance, got his feet out of the way to nail the drive between cover and mid-off but could not get it in the gap. The man at mid-off picked the ball up and had a shy at the bowler's end only to miss it. 20 needed now
Willey to Rahul, 1 run, short ball, camps back and pulls. In front of wicket to find the man at deep square leg for a single
Willey to Rahul, no run, walks across his sticks and drives. Finds the man at mid-off
Willey to Rohit, 1 run, chips down the track and outside halves the ball away past cover for a single. That was another length ball
Willey to Rohit, no run, length ball and has been pushed off the front foot to mid-off
Willey to Rohit, no run, angles it in from round the wicket and has been blocked under the nose of the batsman
Adil Rashid to Rohit, 1 run, plays with the turn and again a meek push into the covers for a single. Rashid finishes his quota. Nothing much to write home about barring his excellent guille to remove Kohli
Adil Rashid to Rohit, FOUR, he screw drives a nail over the man at cover. That was flighted outside off and the batsman just dismissed it out of his sight. Transferred all his weight into the shot and bang!
Adil Rashid to Rahul, 1 run, nudges the ball off the pads to fine leg for a single
Adil Rashid to Rahul, no run, almost yorks the ball out in an inside out drive to find the man at cover
Adil Rashid to Rahul, no run, tossed up delivery and has been pushed away to cover
Adil Rashid to Rohit, 1 run, flattish ball and has been pushed back past the dive of the bowler, who fails to stop it as he rolls over the ball. No Neymar jokes

Still 30 more needed. India have slowed down a bit after the fall of Kohli as Rahul is playing himself in. An unprecedented break. I got it wrong then. Now they are taking drinks and did not take it after Kohli's wicket. Even 350 would have been dwarfed by this phenomenal chase. India have hardly broken a sweat so far.

Willey to Rohit, 1 run, again too full, the batsman push drives the ball away to long-on
Willey to Rohit, no run, too full, the ball has been clipped into the on-side. It finds the man at mid-wicket
Willey to Rahul, 1 run, yorkerish delivery and they eke out a single. The bowler went up but he missed the inside edge as the batsman tried to clip the ball away
Willey to Rahul, no run, angles the ball in and has been pushed back to the bowler
Willey to Rahul, no run, again a little of bend into the batsman but does not dart away for the batsman to push the ball away into the off-side
