Gee, Rahim had been saving these celebrations for a couple of years. He had to let it out. What a win for Bangladesh, just terrific. So that's it from us here. I've been Sagar Chawla, and on behalf of Akshay Maanay, Rishi Roy, Raju Peethala and our scorer Venky, it's a goodbye.

Mahmudullah, Bangladesh captain: Game of quite a bit of nerves. It was a good wicket to bat on. Batters showed the capability that we have. When we started batting, Tamim and Liton gave us a great start. Mushy was outstanding in the way he held his nerves. Knew that they might bring Akila early, that's why we sent Liton at the top of the order.

Chandimal, SL captain: Really good game of cricket. Credit to the batters for putting a really good total. As a bowling unit, we didn't execute well. I'm sure they will come back in the next game. There were a few plans. It was too good a wicket. I'm sure we'll execute our plans in the next game. Looking forward to the next game.

Rahim, MoM: We badly needed that win. Can't ask much more than this. Gave away too many runs. 190 would have been chaseable. Liton and Tamim were outstanding to set it up. Dedicate this knock to my son, who's only 35 days old. At the end of the day, result is the most important thing. It was just a cramp. Hopefully I will recover soon.

Highest targets chased down in T20Is:
244 Aus v NZ, Auckland, 2018
232 WI v SA, Wanderers, 2015
230 Eng v SA, Wankhede, 2016
215 Ban v SL, Colombo PUNE, 2018*

You'd have thought that Bangladesh would fizzle away after Liton Das's early fireworks, and then after Tamim's untimely dismissal, but Rahim came out looking in scintillating touch. He overcame the dip in momentum, which Bangladesh endured after a rollicking powerplay, and roared his team to victory. Sri Lanka, who were taken aback by the early onslaught, used their cutters well during the middle. But the pressure got to them in the end. Misfields, high full tosses, too many freebies. Eventually, they were left relying on Bangladesh's track-record. But Rahim wasn't going to choke here. Not today.

23:01 Local Time, 17:31 GMT, 23:01 IST: Those are some scenes out there. There's Rahim who can't stop screaming, he can't stop himself from yelling in Perera's face, and he can't stop himself from doing a cobra dance. It's all preposterous, but go Bangladesh, do what you have to. It's been an absolutely sensational run-chase - the fourth-highest successful chase in T20Is. So much frustration, so many bottled emotions, they're all on display for this mute Sri Lankan crowd to bear witness. The tri-series is alive and kicking.

Perera to Rahim, 1 run, full toss outside off, knocks it away through mid-wicket before unleashing some hysterical celebrations. Bangladesh with a thrilling win to open up the tri-series

Just one more needed

Perera to Rahim, 2 runs, nudges this yorker length ball towards long-on, where there's a fumble. Gunathilaka buckles under pressure, allows Rahim to get back
Perera to Rahim, FOUR, vigorous claps from the Bangladeshi substitutes, probably the only thing you can hear. The stadium has gone absolutely silent otherwise. Very fortunate boundary for Rahim, who had made room to carve this full ball over extra-cover. Instead, it balloons off a thick outside edge and loops over backward point before trickling away
Perera to Rahim, 2 runs, overpitched just outside off, Rahim clears his front leg and smears it past the diving cover fielder. It's been cut off in the deep though

Thisara Perera [3.0-0-27-1] is back into the attack

Perera to bowl the final one. Nine needed. So much hangs on Rahim. The crowd at the edge of their seats

Pradeep to Rahim, 1 run, back of a length delivery on leg, nudged softly into the on-side. Rahim happy to keep strike

Big discussion now between the Sri Lankans. In between, Rahim goes up to the umpire for an animated chat. Not sure what that was about. Seems like the umpire has denied him an impromptu drink. Anyway, Here we go. "Rahim went up to the umpire pointing at the mini-conference, he doesn't want the momentum to drift at all. He wants the game to just go on, he is in the zone. Immediately after that animated chat with the umpire, the Sri Lankan players disperse," informs Shirshendu

Pradeep to Rahim, SIX, he's launched this many rows back! Pradeep errs in length for once, delivers a full toss, and Rahim got absolutely stuck into it. Towering blow over deep mid-wicket
Pradeep to Mehidy Hasan, leg byes, 1 run, curves in late and smashes onto Hasan's pad as he backs away. The ricochet rolls towards point
Pradeep to Rahim, 1 run, tailing in very full on leg, Rahim tries but can't get under it. Mistimed drive to long-on

Mehidy Hasan, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Pradeep to Sabbir Rahman, out Sabbir Rahman Run Out!! Rahman has given up, and he's gone. Gee, should he have at least attempted to make it in? Seemed to have given up too early. Anyway, this is excellent bowling from Pradeep. He hits the yorker length again, Rahman can only jam it towards mid-off, before Rahim urges him across. Excellent work from Perera for the direct-hit. One of the Bangladesh substitutes smashed a bottle onto the floor. Sabbir Rahman run out (Perera) 0(2)

Pradeep to Sabbir Rahman, THAT'S OUT!! Run Out!!

Pradeep to Rahim, 1 run, right in the blockhole on off, Rahim squeezes it out wide of mid-wicket

Nuwan Pradeep [3.0-0-28-2] is back into the attack

Very tense faces in the Bangladesh camp. Rahim is critical here.

Chameera to Sabbir Rahman, no run, huge cheers as Chameera finishes off with a dot ball. All Rahman could do was to dig it out to short mid-wicket
Chameera to Rahim, 1 run, low full toss tailing in on middle and leg, punched down to long-on
Chameera to Rahim, 2 runs, makes room and smears it to sweeper cover, where there's another fumble. Rahim hobbles across for the second

Sabbir Rahman, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Chameera to Mahmudullah, out Caught by Kusal Mendis!! Hoodwinked by the slower ball, swings through it too early and chips it up. Pretty good catch from Kusal Mendis, running in from deep square leg. Did he really need to do that? The biggest challenge Bangladesh face here is from themselves. Mahmudullah c Kusal Mendis b Chameera 20(11) [4s-1 6s-1]

Chameera to Mahmudullah, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

Chameera to Rahim, 1 run, slower short ball that is wide of off, cut away to deep point
Chameera to Rahim, FOUR, oh he's in trouble, limping across for the second, but a horrbile misfield from Kusal Perera lets it through for four. Fifty for Rahim. Bangladesh should do it from here. Short and wide delivery, flayed away through point, should have been no more than two

Dushmantha Chameera [3.0-0-36-0] is back into the attack

Rahim seemed to be in some discomfort after completing that second. Seemed to have picked a groin strain. Bit of a delay

J Mendis to Mahmudullah, 2 runs, hammered straight back past the bowler, long-off cuts it off. They'll get two nonetheless
J Mendis to Rahim, 1 run, fired in full, squeezed out to extra-cover. Have to hurry for the single, direct-hit may have got him
J Mendis to Rahim, SIX, it's pretty full from Mendis, but Rahim has still imparted enough power on it to clear long-on. Just evades the leaping fingertips of Kusal Mendis
J Mendis to Rahim, 2 runs, switched for the reverse-sweep too early, gave Mendis enough time to fire it down leg. Hard to get power on it from there, Rahim can only chip it through the covers. Such is the lack of power that sweeper cover has to run in, allowing Rahim some time to scamper back for two
J Mendis to Mahmudullah, 1 run, wanted to get this over extra-cover, but ends up slicing it towards the sweeper
J Mendis to Rahim, 1 run, very full on middle, squeezed down to long-on

Jeevan Mendis [1.0-0-12-0] is back into the attack

High Alert: "Lot of security personnel doing the rounds," says Shirshendu Roy from the ground. "I didn't notice any miscreants but there are a lot of security guards taking a full round of the stadium."

Perera to Mahmudullah, FOUR, and a boundary off the free-hit. Camps back against this short ball and slaps the pull behind square. Bangladesh should back themselves now
Perera to Mahmudullah, no ball, SIX, pretty high full toss, heaved away over long-on. It's been given as a no-ball too. Oh Perera. He was on the way to complete such a fine over, but it's completely ruined now. He's actually unlucky here, it was a slower ball and it had dipped under Mahmudullah's waist when it reached him
Perera to Mahmudullah, no run, sharp short ball, rushes Mahmudullah for pace and vaults over his left shoulder. Mahmudullah not happy that this wasn't given a wide, but the umpire's spot on here
