commentary

18:00 local time: A series to cherish for the Bangladesh cricket team. They might not be a great red-ball team outside home, but in white ball cricket they are a force to reckon with irrespective of the conditions. Windies need to sort their middle-order, the innings of Hope today won't give them much hope. They need to sort that out. We are sorted for the time being as we take leave. This is Varun Dixit signing off on behalf of Raju Peethala, Abhinand and Naga. Take good care of yourselves. See you soon!

Tamim Iqbal, Man of the Match and Man of the Series: Didn't have a great Test series personally. We put a lot of effort in the practice. This is a format we are comfortable with. My team asked me to bat long; this was the plan. It's not easy to bat here in West Indies. You need to spend a lot of time. Patience is the key.

Mortaza, Bangladesh captain: Cricket is a mental game. We lost the last ODI, and that too after having the game in our bag for 99 overs, but today I think it was a professional performance from the boys. Boys are in good touch. Tamim, Shakib and Mushy played really well. Now the juniors have to step up and take responsibility. With the T20I series coming up, it won't be easy to play against a side like Windies.

Jason Holder, Windies Captain: We struggled completely throughout the series. Just not good enough today, particularly. We should have done better with the ball. We came back well in the last game, but we couldn't quite make it happen today. Lost momentum in the middle. Credit to Chris and Powell, they gave us a chance and credit must also go to Bangladesh as well, they kept mounting pressure on us. Got a lot of work to do building up to the WC next year. Hetmyer and Keemo Paul were good in the series. Chris (Gayle) and Powell are the big positives for us.

17:27 Local Time, 21:27 GMT, 02:57 IST: Handshakes and hugs all around, Bangladesh would be a happy unit. This one went right down to the wire courtesy Rovman Powell. He is a gem of a hitter but unfortunately ended up on the wrong side of the result today. Chris Gayle looked in his elements today, he was threatening to take the match away from the Bangladesh but Rubel got him at the right time. After that what transpired in the middle overs was beyond me, there wasn't any intent from Hope. He kept consuming deliveries and never got going, there wasn't any fourth or fifth gear in his innings. Windies had to suffer, the required rate kept going up and by the time Rovman Powell arrived, it was too late. He tried his best with some lusty blows but it was never going to be enough. Earlier in the day, excellent efforts of Tamim and Mahmudullah took Bangladesh to a formidable total. Skipper Mortaza pushed himself up the order and that changed the momentum of the innings which was meandering along at one point and assisted Bangladesh in posting an above par total. Bowlers held their nerves while defending the total and Windies fell 18 runs short. Time for the presentations.

Mustafizur to Powell, no run, oh dear! Had Mushy hit that, Powell would have gone. It was another slower ball at the stumps, Powell misses the flick and he was rapped on the pads. Huge shout from the bowler for lbw, but it pitched outside leg. Powell, distracted by it, went for a single when there wasn't any run. He was late to turn around and make the ground.
