commentary

A bit of a snoozefest in the end, further reinforced by the fact that it's past 3AM in India. Good on Bangladesh for coming back strong in the ODI series after a miserable tenure in the whites. That's a wrap from today then, as I, Kumar Abhisekh Das, bid you farewell on behalf of Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Shashikant Singh and Rishi Roy. Tata!

Mashrafe Mortaza: I have not bowled for long. The knee is alright. It is always hard but I enjoy on the ground. Just play with your heart as you are playing for your nation. Hopefully, we will carry on from here. We won here against South Africa in 2007. Batting was challenging but Shakib and Tamim set the tone for us and Mushy played a blinder at the end.

Tamim Iqbal, Man of the Match: I think the first 10 overs were very very difficult. It got better after the 25th over. Luckily Mushy played a valuable knock and got us 20-30 runs extra. This is one format where we feel we are very comfortable. We had a new captain and a new voice.

Jason Holder: They played some good cricket today. I felt we were pretty good till the 45th over but it fell away after that. Not enough partnerships with the bat as well. We did not execute today. We need to do it better with the bat and the ball. We just got to prepare well. We obviously had our plans today but that did no go well.

Windies on their part were never in the chase. Gayle's out-of-character knock where he tried to run cheeky singles signalled the Windies team that it was never going to be easy. The middle overs were choked away by the spinners and timely blows by their skipper Mashrafe meant Windies were blown of the chase even before they hit the 40 over mark. The last pair of Bishoo and Joseph threw their bats around and got personal highest scores to keep the players on the field for the entire set of 50 overs. But the game was long lost. Hang on for the award ceremony.

Bangladesh 1, Windies 0: Experienced heads in the form of Tamim, Shakib, Mushy and Mashrafe have played a major part in ensuring Bangladesh's white ball cricket is like cheese compared to the chalk that they are in the whites. A sloth slow ton almost was a self shot from Tamim before Mushy drove home some momentum with a few lusty hits. This after the Tamim-Shakib pair added 207 runs for the second wicket, only the second time that a Bangladeshi pair had added more than 200 for any wicket in ODIs. They scaled 279 on the board and with the wicket slowing down, it was always going to be tough.

Mustafizur to Devendra Bishoo, no run, slower bouncer and the slog across the line is missed. Bangladesh win this by 48 runs! This has been a comprehensive win for the visitors after being ridiculed in the Tests
49.5
0
Mustafizur to Devendra Bishoo, no run, pushed back to the bowler. Solidly done. Not the need of the hour though
49.4
2
Mustafizur to Devendra Bishoo, 2 runs, another overthrow and they get an extra run. That was dragged away to mid-off, who aimed a direct hit at the bowler's end and missed to allow the extra run
49.3
0
Mustafizur to Devendra Bishoo, no run, goes for the reverse paddle and does not get it anywhere as he was cramped with the line and the length. Might have got some bat on it as it scooped up to land in the proximity of the sticks

These are the highest scores for both number 10 and 11!

Rubel to Devendra Bishoo, FOUR, short ball and punished. The batsman cleared his feet and tonked the pull away. There was no one at the deep mid fence

Must say Mushy's cameo at the end was very very important if you look at it in hindsight.

Rubel to Devendra Bishoo, FOUR, length ball and has been swiped across the line. The man at long-on got to it but then the momentum took it away. The one-handed effort was never good enough
47.6
0
Mustafizur to Alzarri Joseph, no run, full ball and well outside off, the batsman could never reach it only to let it go. The ball was just inside the tramline and hence was not called a wide
