W

Paterson to Kayes, out Caught by Behardien!! Second ball and Kayes hits it straight to Behardien at mid-off. Second scalp in ODI cricket for Paterson. This will boost his confidence for sure; The scorecard pressure and the southpaw succumbs. It was full and in the arc, he wanted to go over-mid-off, doesn't get the desired connection. Early breakthrough for South Africa and Paterson is chuffed. Kayes c Behardien b Paterson 1(6)

4

Paterson to Liton Das, FOUR, he gets off the mark with a not-so-convincing boundary. Swerving away in the corridor, Das flirts it albeit with soft hands, the outside edge rolls past the slip and runs away to the third man fence

4

to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR, the pressure-releaser from . Sarkar will heave a sigh of relief. Half-volley on the pads, Sarkar says thank you very much and whips it through mid-wicket

W

Paterson to Liton Das, out Lbw!! Two in two for Paterson. He kept pleading and the umpire finally raises his dreaded finger. Bangladesh in early trouble. Goodish length delivery accompanied by inward shape - Das was caught playing down the wrong line, misses it altogether and is hit on the pad - just above the knee roll and height was the only factor that could've saved him there. Was struck bang in-line with the stumps and would've clipped the leg-pole, IMO. Liton Das lbw b Paterson 6(6) [4s-1]

4

Paterson to Rahim, FOUR, this will soothe Rahim's nerves. A freebie on offer and the Bangladesh skipper accepts the invitation. Shortish outside off, Rahim flails his hands and caresses it through cover. Bulleted away to the fence

W

to Soumya Sarkar, out Caught by Markram!! Goneeee. First catch in ODI cricket for Markram, he's having a dream debut. The visitors' downward slide continues. picks up his first wicket. It was the sucker ball and the southpaw took the bait. Pitched up tempting the batsman, Sarkar's eyes light up as he went after it. Doesn't employ his feet nor does he cover for the away swing. Went for a ambitious cover drive and outside edge is snapped which is held nicely by Markram at widish first slip. It was flying, he had his eyes on the ball and reverse-cupped it. Soumya Sarkar c Markram b 8(13) [4s-1]

4

Paterson to Shakib, FOUR, oh! What happened there? Rabada lets one through. Sloppy work from the pacer, this won't please the captain and the bowler. Short and down leg, Shakib swivels across with a rolled wrists, controls the pull along the ground to fine leg. Looks like the ball bounced a bit at the last moment as Rabada had his body behind the line, it hits his wrists and bobbles away to the fine fence

4

Paterson to Shakib, FOUR, Shakib special. Straight out of the cricketing manual. Nothing wrong with the delivery at all, on a length and just outside off - Shakib presents his weight forward with a high elbow and full face of the bat. Doesn't try to hit it too hard, just times the drive straight down the ground and poses for the lensmen. Clean, crisp drive!

4

Paterson to Shakib, FOUR, Shakib is looking in excellent touch. Anything loose, he cashes on. This was pitched up and outside off, Shakib lunges across and caresses the drive through extra cover. Beauty!

4

Paterson to Shakib, FOUR, Paterson overbakes and Shakib ain't sparing him. Half-volley on leg, Shakib shuffles across and whips it fiercely behind square on the leg-side. No chance for the fine leg fielder

W

to Rahim, out Caught by Rabada!! strikes gold in his first over. The dangerous Rahim has been sent packing and Bangldesh are quaking. Good ploy by ABD to introduce into the attack and it has bore fruit. It was on a length and just outside off, Rahim mistimed one and escaped. He sought to go over mid-off, messes up his timing. Skews it off the splice and lobs up a sitter to Rabada at mid-off. Rahim c Rabada b 8(21) [4s-1]

4

to Shakib, FOUR, sumptous from Shakib. offers width and Shakib latches onto it in a flash. Plants his front foot across, opens the bat face and times it in the gap through extra cover

W

Mulder to Mahmudullah, out Lbw!! Huge appeal and given. Maiden ODI wicket for Mulder - so he doesn't have to wait long then. Nearly had Shakib in his last over. Swung back in viciously, Mahmudullah went for a swipe across the line, misses it and was pinged on the back pad. Looked plumb straightaway and umpire Aleem Dar had no doubts in lifting his finger. Bangladesh have lost half their side now. He is mobbed by his team-mates and must be over the moon. Hawkeye shows: it's crashing the leg-stump. Mahmudullah lbw b Mulder 2(7)

4

to Sabbir Rahman, FOUR, lucky. Pokes away at this length ball and gets a thick edge that flies past the lone man at slip. Third man did not have time to get around

4

to Shakib, FOUR, short ball down leg. Shakib helps it with a pull to the fine leg fence

OT

to Shakib, 1 run, off the back foot again, turns past mid-wicket to get to his fifty

4

to Sabbir Rahman, FOUR, this a good shot from Sabbir Rahman. Steps down a bit and then connects with the ball, keeps the bat straight and launches it over mid-on; one bounce and over the ropes

4

to Shakib, FOUR, fullish and Shakib picks his spot. Slogs over the man at mid-wicket

4

to Sabbir Rahman, FOUR, really poor ball. Short and down leg. Sabbir Rahman top-edges the pull past short fine leg

4

to Sabbir Rahman, FOUR, this is nicely done. Leans a bit and drives with the turn through covers

4

to Shakib, FOUR, steps down and makes room as well. Lofts it past the man at extra cover, raced away to the fence in no time

4

to Sabbir Rahman, FOUR, now a reverse sweep and this time he finds the gap, places it well wide of the man at short third man

D

to Shakib, 1 run, in the air but ABD cannot get to it. Slogged it with a top-edge over mid-wicket. de Villiers went for it, the ball was over his head and he had to keep his eyes on it, did well but could not latch on to it

W

to Shakib, out Caught by (sub)Duminy!! Shakib runs out of luck. Flatter and fuller. He goes for the slog and hits it really well. Unfortunately, picks out the man at deep mid-wicket. Bangladesh well and truly into the tail now. Shakib c (sub)Duminy b 63(82) [4s-8]

4

to Sabbir Rahman, FOUR, tossed up ball outside off. Sabbir Rahman carves it over the cover region. Two fielders chase, neither reaches it in time

W

to Sabbir Rahman, out Caught by de Kock!! This is the kind of debut you tell your grandchildren about. Keeps it outside off and Sabbir Rahman goes for a big swish outside off, gets a thick edge and de Kock does not drop those. Three more wickets to end the misery, I would say. Sabbir Rahman c de Kock b 39(49) [4s-6]

4

Mulder to Mortaza, FOUR, Mulder pitches it up and ends up bowling one on the pads, flicked away nicely behind square on the leg-side. Fine leg was too fine, and had no chance to get there

4

Paterson to Mortaza, FOUR, another healthy edge and the ball runs away into the fence. Shortened length outside off, Mortaza sticks his bat out and gets a fat outside edge that flies through the vacant slip region and past the boundary rope

4

Mulder to Mehidy Hasan, FOUR, short ball, Mehidy Hasan swivels and pulls it nicely into the fine leg fence. He was in total control of that shot

4

Mulder to Mortaza, FOUR, with mid-on inside the circle that's a good shot. Mortaza backs away and swings his bat hard against a length ball. Tonks it over mid-on

W

Paterson to Mortaza, out Caught by de Kock!! Edged and taken. This was bowled on a good length and in that zone wide of off. Mortaza, who is batting leg-side, sticks his bat out to have a feel for it and gets a thin outside edge that is gobbled up de Kock. Mortaza c de Kock b Paterson 17(17) [4s-3]

D

Paterson to Mehidy Hasan, no run, would you believe it? Bavuma has dropped a sitter. Mehidy Hasan goes for the drive against a pitched up delivery and ends up slicing it off the outside part of the bat. Straight into the hands of Temba Bavuma at backward point and out it pops

W

to Taskin Ahmed, out Caught by (sub)Duminy!! Second catch for Duminy in the deep. This was a slow leg-break from round the wicket. Taskin wanted to play the big shot, gets low and look to slog it over deep mid-wicket. Doesn't time it and holes out to deep mid-wicket. Easy catch for the sub fielder. Taskin Ahmed c (sub)Duminy b 2(6)

W

to Mehidy Hasan, out Caught by de Villiers!! South Africa win by 200 runs. The flatter ball from , Mehidy Hasan gets low to sweep and hits it straight to de Villiers at short mid-wicket. Easily taken and that ends the proceedings. Mehidy Hasan c de Villiers b 15(38) [4s-1]

4

to Bavuma, FOUR, fullish ball and Bavuma latches on. Cracks a square drive and threads the gap through the infield

4

Hasan to de Kock, FOUR, short and wide. de Kock thrives on that, goes back and cuts past backward point

4

Hasan to de Kock, FOUR, this is better. Did not have as much as room as the previous one. But de Kock created some and placed the punch past point again

4

Hasan to de Kock, FOUR, third boundary in that region. de Kock goes back and cuts this flatter ball through point again. Too easy for him

4

to Bavuma, FOUR, short and at that pace, that's asking for trouble. Bavuma swishes it across the line and sends it racing through mid-wicket

4

to de Kock, FOUR, de Kock drives past mid-off. Mortaza chases and dives near the fence, tries to pull it back. Does so but he had moved the boundary cushions a bit and the umpire ruled the ball would have touched the fence

4

to de Kock, FOUR, beautiful shot. Opens the face of the bat a bit, and then drives on the up through cover. Don't run for those

4

to Bavuma, FOUR, that is where he needs to be bowling but not this full for sure. Bavuma leans a bit and drives through extra cover

4

to Bavuma, FOUR, Bavuma skips down the wicket and gets closer to the pitch of the ball. Does not lose his shape and manages to flick along the carpet through mid-wicket

4

Ahmed to de Kock, FOUR, you can preserve this shot for generations to come and see in museums. Straight as an arrow. Keeps his bat straight and does not try to hit hard, places past the bowler and it races away

6

to de Kock, SIX, this has gone out of here. Steps down and makes a bit of room to free his arms, launches over the bowler's head. Mammoth hit. Hits the sightscreen

4

Ahmed to Bavuma, FOUR, Bavuma steps down a bit and goes through the line. Cracks down to the long-off fence

OT

Hasan to de Kock, 1 run, pushed through on off. de Kock eases down to long-off. Another fifty for de Kock. Just another day at office

4

to de Kock, FOUR, such nice flow of the bat. Uses the feet a bit to cover the angle of the ball and then lets his arms take over. Just lofts over the spectator at mid-off

4

to de Kock, FOUR, de Kock waits and taps to point, who throws at the bowler's end. Hits the stumps and richochets to the fence. Free runs

4

Hasan to de Kock, FOUR, thick edge but runs away. de Kock wanted to cut but the ball was too close to the body, beget a thick edge and ran past the man at short third man

W

Hasan to Bavuma, out Caught by Liton Das!! Bavuma has thrown it away. Blame the drinks break? Could be because his concentration is snapped. Falls a couple of runs short of a well-deserved half-century. Anyway, credit to for keeping it tight. He saw the batsman advance and slowed it up. Bavuma, wasn't to the pitch and wanted to go over extra cover. Was undone by the late dip and he holes out to long-on where Liton keeps his eyes on the ball, bends forward and holds onto it. Finally, Bangladesh have broken the opening stand. Bavuma c Liton Das b Hasan 48(47) [4s-5]

W

Hasan to de Kock, out Caught&Bowled!! de Kock's watch has ended. Two wickets in three overs for Hasan. They are fighting back into this contest. They never looked like getting a wicket before the drinks break, but now they have removed both the openers. All thanks to Hasan. de Kock in a rush of blood charged out aiming to nudge it to the leg-side, was defeated in the flight and chalks a top-edge that went straight in the air. The bowler calls for it and he clasps onto it with ease. Has his arms aloft in joy. de Kock c and b Hasan 73(68) [4s-9 6s-1]

6

Hasan to Markram, SIX, oh! Where did this come from? No nerves on debut? Positive intent from Markram, skips out in a hurry and reaches the pitch. Flexes his muscles and thumps it over long-on. The key was - he went with the spin

4

to du Plessis, FOUR, du Plessis brings out the broom and earns a boundary. lasered it on leg, du Plessis preempts by sinking low and sweeps it with the turn behind square. No chance for the fielder in the deep

6

to du Plessis, SIX, wow! The sweep is coming good for du Plessis. Rolls his wrists this time, picked his spot and belted it over square leg. Just about cleared the fence at deep square leg

6

to Markram, SIX, throwdown delivery and Markram accepts it with glee it put it over deep mid-wicket. Rank long hop, he got away with one in the last over, Markram spots it early on this occasion and smashes it into the grass banks

4

to Markram, FOUR, he is stepping up the pedal now. Violence followed by deft touch, pure bottom-hand this time. Slams it through extra cover, no chance for the fielder at sweeper cover

4

to du Plessis, FOUR, 17 runs off the over. An expensive one for Bangladesh. This was streaky from du Plessis, went hard on the cut to a flatter ball. Outside edge runs away past short third man

4

Rahman to Markram, FOUR, Markram brings up South Africa's 200 with a boundary. Rahman drags one short and outside off, Markram after sitting on the back foot had enough time to slash it through point. Loud cheers from the crowd

4

to du Plessis, FOUR, captain to captain and du Plessis shows no respect in putting this one to the fence. Full ball outside off, du Plessis bends his knee and bashes it through mid-wicket

4

to du Plessis, FOUR, acres of gap on the leg-side and du Plessis is picking his spot. Shuffles across his sticks, fetches this full ball from outside off and hacks it along the ground in front of square on the leg-side. Beats a diving attempt from the fielder in the deep

OT

to du Plessis, 1 run, 29th ODI fifty for du Plessis. He reaches the milestone in just 44 balls. A round of applause from the crowd as well. Tapped it in front of point and set off for the single

4

Hasan to Markram, FOUR, short and Markram pounces on it. He goes deep in his crease and in the process moved leg-side as well. That allowed him to free his arms and then cut it through the covers

OT

Hasan to Markram, 1 run, fifty on debut for Aiden Markram! He had a good Test series and starts his ODI stint in a good way. Drills a very full ball wide of a diving bowler to reach the milestone

4

to du Plessis, FOUR, the partnership between du Plessis and Markram is now 102. Cheeky and effective! Short of a length outside off, du Plessis moves across and scoops it superbly. One bounce and into the fence

4

to du Plessis, FOUR, same ball, same shot and same result. du Plessis once again moves off-side, slightly crouches and ramps this length ball outside off into the fine leg fence

4

to du Plessis, FOUR, 15 off the over! du Plessis is shifting gears here. Gives the charge to this gentle-paced delivery and slaps it wide of the bowler. There is nothing can do in his followthrough. Bullets away into the long-off fence

4

to Markram, FOUR, edged, safe and four. This will hurt Bangladesh badly. Even the good deliveries are going into the fence. This was too close to cut and Markram got a thick outside edge that goes past the keeper for four more

4

Ahmed to du Plessis, FOUR, good work, but not good enough from Liton Das in the deep. Width served outside off from a back of a length, du Plessis stands tall and allows his quick hands to take over as he forces it through the point region. Das dives to his left and gets a hand on it, can't pull it back into play

4

Ahmed to du Plessis, FOUR, 14 from the over! Slower ball from and du Plessis spotted it like a hawk. Shimmies down the track and eases the drive down the ground. The ball races away into the long-on fence all along the carpet

4

to du Plessis, FOUR, easily done! No fuss at all. Length ball angling in, du Plessis offers the maker's name to straight-drive it past the bowler. With mid-off inside the circle, the only one who could have stopped that was long-on. Alas, the outfield is quick as well

OT

to du Plessis, 2 runs, slower delivery, du Plessis wrists it through mid-wicket and comes back for the second run. A direct hit at the bowler's end would have made things interesting. 150 up between the duo. Replays suggest that Markram would have been a goner there

4

to de Villiers, FOUR, de Villiers is underway! Gets off the mark with a boundary. A couple of steps down the track and lofts it down the ground. Off the meat of the bat and long-off can't stop it from going into the fence

W

to Markram, out Markram Run Out!! 1 run completed. He was run-out on his Test debut, and not much different in the 50-over format. The second run wasn't on there. Probably wanted de Villiers to have the strike. The debutant turned this length ball through square leg and came back for the non-existent second run. Kayes in the deep was quick to attack the ball and fired in an accurate throw at the keeper's end. Direct hit and despite a dive from Markram, he couldn't make his ground. End of a good knock. Markram run out (Kayes) 66(60) [4s-4 6s-2]

6

to de Villiers, SIX, only AB can do that! His first six of the day. Full ball angling in around off, de Villiers waits for the ball on the back foot and carves it over the cover region. The ball has enough wings to go over the boundary rope. And there's the pose for the photographs

OT

to Behardien, leg byes, 2 runs. Appeal for lbw and Bangladesh have decided to review. Fair delivery. No bat. Looks like it's sliding down leg. At max, clipping leg. Impact: in line; Wickets: missing. NOT OUT. Full and swinging (reverse) in, Behardien misses the flick and the ball rolled towards third man. Two runs taken through leg-byes

4

to Behardien, FOUR, that's a gift and Behardien accepts it with both hands. Low full toss outside off, Behardien bends forward and drives it exquisitely through extra cover

4

Ahmed to Behardien, FOUR, normal paced short ball outside off, Behardien comes forward and flat-bats it over extra cover. Finds the gap and collects his second boundary

4

Ahmed to Behardien, FOUR, another four! Short ball on leg without any venom. Rises only till Behardien's tummy. The batsman swivels and pulls it behind square on the on-side. Long leg can't cut it off

W

to de Villiers, out Caught by Mortaza!! This is a big wicket for Bangladesh! A fullish ball around off, de Villiers moves leg-side and looks to loft it over covers. Clears the front leg, but doesn't time it as it came off the bottom portion of the bat. Mortaza, at extra cover, didn't pick it early, but adjusted well and did well to hold onto it. de Villiers c Mortaza b 20(15) [4s-1 6s-1]

W

Ahmed to Willem Mulder, out Lbw!! Not an auspicious debut for Willem Mulder! He has been given out lbw. A seam-up delivery from that swung in. Mulder, in an attempt to work it through the on-side, plays all around it. The impact was adjacent to middle and leg. Would have definitely crashed into leg. Willem Mulder lbw b Ahmed 2(4)

4

Ahmed to Phehlukwayo, FOUR, Phehlukwayo is underway with a boundary. Back of a length on the ribs, Phehlukwayo jumps and tucks it away behind square on the leg-side. Races away

W

Ahmed to Phehlukwayo, out Caught by Rahim!! Appeal for caught behind and umpire Aleem Dar raises his finger. 143kph fullish ball that was angling across around off. Phehlukwayo, sans any feet movement, throws his bat at it and gets a faint outside nick. Rahim won't drop those. Another good over for the visitors. Two wickets for just six runs. Phehlukwayo c Rahim b Ahmed 5(4) [4s-1]

4

Ahmed to Rabada, FOUR, top shot! bangs it short and Rabada gets into a superb position on the back foot and pulls it uppishly over mid-wicket. Sabbir Rahman, from long-on, moves to his left, but can't stop it

4

Ahmed to Rabada, FOUR, lovely shot! That's Sangakkara-esque. Pitched up outside off, Rabada without much feet movement, creams the cover-drive over the head of extra cover. Elegant!

6

to Rabada, SIX, Rabada is playing a cameo here. A full toss from , Rabada moves leg-side and helps it away over fine leg. It goes all the way. And this is South Africa's highest score against Bangladesh in ODIs

4

to Rabada, FOUR, another full toss and another boundary for Rabada. Moves leg-side and hammers it past a diving extra cover fielder

4

to Behardien, FOUR, boundary to end the innings and South Africa finish on 369. misses his length and ends up bowling a ball right in Behardien's slot, who clears his left leg and slogs it over mid-wicket. Finds the gap between deep mid-wicket and long-on
