4

to Rahane, FOUR, lovely shot, aggression from Rahane, shimmies down the track to this cross-seam delivery, made room as he did so and gets it over cover, a few bounces and over the ropes

6

Cummins to Rohit, SIX, massive, exceptional pull from Rohit, this was short and this was fast, he swivelled across, didn't bother to keep it down and pulled it high and over square leg for a maximum. Hit the second tier of the stands

4

to Rohit, FOUR, lovely, Rohit is looking in gorgeous touch at the moment, too straight from , ends up drifting onto the pads, Rohit gets forward and clips it in front of square on the on-side, beat mid-wicket to his right and rolled away to the fence

6

to Rohit, SIX, cracking shot, the short boundaries are no friends of the bowlers. On a good length and just outside off, right in the hitting zone for Rohit, he leans forward, drives it through the line and sends it high and deep into the stands at long-off

4

Richardson to Rohit, FOUR, chance, ferocious cut and Maxwell has just done well to get some hand on it, still it raced away to the point boundary. A chance, but harsh to call it as a drop. Too much width from Richardson and Rohit laced the cut in the air - to the left of backward point. The ball was travelling and Maxwell had very little reaction time, got both hands on the ball but can't hold on

4

Richardson to Rohit, FOUR, Rohit is in the mood for a big knock today, too short from Richardson, can't bowl those at his pace. Rohit swivels across and pulls it over mid-wicket, one bounce and over the ropes

6

Richardson to Rohit, SIX, massive, that has been smashed out of the ground. Ravi Shastri though stays still in his seat. Rohit shimmied down the track, Richardson spotted it and shortened his length, Rohit wasn't to be outdone though, went through with the pull and sends it sailing over the stands at deep square leg

4

to Rahane, FOUR, Rahane wants a piece of the action as well, but this merely is an agricultural slog, ran down the track and was looking to go over mid-on, dragged it off the inner half of the bat and beat the diving fielder at mid-on

4

to Rahane, FOUR, elegant from Rahane, this was short and on Rahane's hips, he gets inside the line and flicks it behind square on the on-side. The man at backward square leg was inside the circle and has no chance

4

to Rahane, FOUR, classy, much better from Rahane, he doesn't need to match Rohit with aggression, this was short and this was wide of off, he got across, got on top of the bounce and merely directed it behind point, no one in the deep and it's another boundary

6

to Rohit, SIX, fifty for Rohit, yet another clean strike into the stands at long-on. Too full and too straight from , Rohit gets a good stride forward and thumps it high and over the man at long-on, 33rd ODI fifty for Rohit

4

to Rohit, FOUR, things are slipping away from Australia and Coulter-Nile is down, he seems OK though. This was dropped short and wide of off, Sharma makes room and cuts it square on the off-side. Coulter-Nile came across from the deep and seemed to have jarred his elbow against the ground as he dived. On replays, he actually smacked his face against the hard ground, that should be painful

4

to Rahane, FOUR, cracking shot, a long-hop from , Rahane is quick to rock back and pulls it past Maxwell at mid-wicket, was in the air - but well wide of the fielder, no one in the deep and it's another boundary

OT

to Rahane, 1 run, pushed through on Rahane's pads, worked away in front of square on the on-side for a single, raises the 100-run stand

4

to Rahane, FOUR, this is easy pickings for Rahane, too short and on the stumps, Rahane settles into a half-swivel, rolled his wrists over and pulls it past square leg. The man in the deep is very square and has no chance

4

Cummins to Rohit, FOUR, lovely, length ball outside off, Rohit gets forward and thumps it back over the bowler's head, one bounce and over the ropes

4

Cummins to Rohit, FOUR, back-to-back boundaries from Rohit, this was short and on the stumps, Rohit swivels across, rolls his wrists and pulls it past square leg. Used the pace on the ball and bisected the two fielders in the deep. Agar sprints across, puts in the dive but can't pull it back in

D

Cummins to Rohit, no run, edged and dropped, Handscomb is just a part-time keeper and this was a tough chance by his standards. This was a back of a length delivery outside off, Rohit was looking to run it down towards third man, went a lot finer and to the right of the keeper. It was dying onto him, he dived forward, got his right gloves underneath but can't hold on. How much will this miss cost?

4

to Rahane, FOUR, veering on his left thigh and Rahane's hopped into a one-legged glance to the fine leg fence. 21st ODI fifty for Rahane!

4

to Rahane, FOUR, the short balls haven't risen for the Australian seamers, especially, on this pitch. Rahane is able to swivel and smack the pull round the corner

4

to Rahane, FOUR, that chipped shot has evaded two fielders. Firstly, it's close to a return catch and then beats Warner at mid-off. Rahane seemed to have done enough to lessen the impact last minute, after he played early at the ball. Not a slower ball, just natural variation off the pitch

W

to Rohit, out Caught by (sub)Cartwright!! That went high into the air but Cartwright takes a good catch, braving the lights. A short ball which Rohit seemed to be nailing tonight. This time, he's not quite back to play this - well, when he was today? Anyway. - and slices it high off a top-edge to deep mid-wicket. Rohit c (sub)Cartwright b 71(62) [4s-6 6s-4]

W

Cummins to Rahane, out Lbw!! Rahane walks back. Beaten by the pace here. Skids off the deck and raps the knee-roll of the front pad, as Rahane tried to work it across into the leg-side. Rahane being made to wait for the front-foot no-ball check is it? Looks like they aren't sure about who'll walk out, so Rahane waits near the ropes. Ball-tracking shows impact as umpire's call and the ball was hitting the stumps, so all fair from the umpire. Rahane lbw b Cummins 70(76) [4s-9]

6

to Hardik Pandya, SIX, well he's doing what he does, best. Stays put in the crease, loads up on the slog-sweep over deep mid-wicket

4

Cummins to Kohli, FOUR, shuffles and the bottom hand takes over. Gentle flick round the corner; Indore breaks its voice

6

to Hardik Pandya, SIX, gosh. He's blasted it over wide long-on. Making just the little bit of room - patronizingly for shifting his front leg for his bat swing - and smokes it away. Twice now that he's done it to

4

Cummins to Kohli, FOUR, now, now, what do you call that? He's reached across on his front foot and then just given it a little push. And it drills away to the long-off fence

W

to Kohli, out Caught by Finch!! Kohli and run-chases for some other day. Makes room for the inside-out loft but is deceived by an iota of turn there. Finds Finch at long-off there. Good loop from , enticing that big shot. Do Australia still have a chance in this? 91 off 93 needed. Kohli c Finch b 28(35) [4s-2]

W

Richardson to Kedar Jadhav, out Caught by Handscomb!! Two successive wickets. Australia have an opening. A nothing shot from Jadhav. The ploy to send him above Pandey does not work out. The cross-seam back of a length delivery, Jadhav sees the length and tries to unleash a cut, too close to his body and a thin outside edge makes its way into Handscomb's mitts. Kedar Jadhav c Handscomb b Richardson 2(4)

6

to Hardik Pandya, SIX, very small margins for . Dragged the length back and Pandya deposits him into the stands, stands in the crease and whips the pull over cow corner

4

to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, in an attempt to fire it in is bowling half trackers, Pandya is picking his spots, small swivel and the pull is right between deep mid-wicket and long-on, one bounce four this time

D

to Hardik Pandya, 1 run, dropped! Tough one. But with so much air time and Smith under it that should have been taken. for a change tosses it up outside off, Pandya has no second gear against flighted deliveries, slices the loft towards extra cover. Smith tracks back and is swirling under the skier, in the end only gets a fingertip to it. Game-changing moment this?

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, freebie from NCN to his KOL team-mate to open his account. On the hips, Pandey stood his crease and whipped with plenty of bottom hand to the fine leg fence

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, back to back fours. The pressure that was built with those two wickets is being released. Full delivery almost close to the yorker, Pandey jams it down hard and the ball races past . That's how hard Pandey brought his bat down

6

to Hardik Pandya, SIX, clean strike! Lovely use of the feet. First time he has done that today. Shimmies down and gets to the pitch of the ball and once to the pitch, the rest is easy and the bat flow swings it over long-on

OT

to Hardik Pandya, 1 run, fifty for Pandya. Second in the series. The promotion has worked for him and India. Kohli has the double thumbs up. It was his idea to send Pandya at No. 4. Raises the bat does Pandya and soaks in the applause. Flatter delivery on off, Pandya moves across and nudges it in front of square on the leg-side

4

Cummins to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, oh! Nearly.. When you are in form everything seems to go your way. The cross-seam delivery that nips in a touch, Pandya is in no man's land with his feet, drives and the inside edge misses the off-stump by a whisker

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, Pandey has his own style of handling certain deliveries. Fraction short and outside off, Pandey drives it with a horizontal bat through extra cover. No one sweeping and the ball races away

4

Cummins to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, shot of the match! The crowd enjoyed it as well. Nothing much wrong with the delivery, fuller and around off, Pandya presents the straight bat and the on-drive pings off the middle, beat long-on comfortably. It was a textbook drive and something that you do not expect from Pandya hence it is the shot of the match, for me at least

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, joins the sledging battle now and whatever they are trying, it is not working for the visitors. overpitches full and in the slot, Pandey slogs, goes off the inside half of the bat and beats mid-on

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, that's the one-legged pull shot, Pandey takes India closer. Looked like the slower ball bumper, Pandey placed that to the right of mid-wicket and it's back-to-back fours for India

4

to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, these two are answering those sledges in the best possible way. Let the mouths be shut and the bats do the talking. goes for the normal pace bumper, Pandya guides it very late and straight over the keeper's head for the third boundary of the over

4

to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, and the carnage continues. Four boundaries in five balls. Australia have lost this, on the field, with the words too. Short and on the stumps, Pandya pulls fiercely, splits mid-on and mid-wicket to perfection

W

Cummins to Hardik Pandya, out Caught by Kane Richardson!! He wanted to close this innings out, but holes out. End of an exceptional knock. Absorbed the pressure, showed excellent maturity with the bat and provided great stability. Meanwhile, the crowd don't mind the wicket and there's a loud roar heard. Well of course MSD walks out to the middle. Coming back to the ball, Pandya wanted to muscle this length ball over long-on, got the toe end of the bat on it and the ball carried straight to mid-on. Hardik Pandya c Kane Richardson b Cummins 78(72) [4s-5 6s-4]

4

Richardson to M Pandey, FOUR, smashed over the bowler's head and it's just bounced inside the long-off rope. Full delivery outside off stump, Pandey launches himself into the lofted shot and India are just one hit away

4

to Finch, FOUR, edged as Finch is squared up on his attempt to on-drive the ball. Full and angled in on the off stump, the scrambled seam delivery, maybe just nipped away to surprise the batsman, luckily the edge was wide enough from the man at lone slip and third man

4

to Finch, FOUR, absolutely nothing in it for the bowler from the pitch, I mean the fast bowler, short of length delivery outside off stump, sat up nicely and the bounce isn't steep enough to trouble the batsman, Finch stood tall and punched nicely through cover for four

4

to Warner, FOUR, fine leg is inside the ring and anything on middle and leg or leg is poor from the bowler. Good length delivery down the leg-side, Warner gets a soft tickle on that and collects a boundary

OT

to Warner, 1 run, a direct-hit would have been curtains for Warner. hit the bat hard with this length delivery, Warner walked forward and punched to the left of cover, Kohli had a real go at the bowler's end but missed

4

to Finch, FOUR, that's not where he intended to hit the ball, but Finch will take it. Overpitched and in the slot, Finch is good with the lofted-drives as well, targets mid-on, but this takes the inside edge and luckily misses the man at 45

4

to Warner, FOUR, Bhuvi has been off radar trying to cramp Warner for room from round the wicket, got away with one previous over, but this time Warner glances it to the right of the man at short fine leg

4

to Warner, FOUR, lovely hit. Mid-off didn't even bother to move, wouldn't have mattered though. overpitches outside off stump, Warner leans forward, doesn't try to hit the ball hard, places the drive between mid-off and extra-cover

6

to Warner, SIX, that's the first maximum of the day. flights the ball inviting the batsman to take the aerial route, Warner goes for the lofted drive, didn't connect that well, luckily placed it to the right of long-on and it went flat

4

Pandya to Warner, FOUR, Kedar Jadhav dives and bangs his head into the ground. Poor effort, should have been stopped. Short of a length delivery outside off stump, Warner punches nicely to the right of mid-off, Pandya is livid with the effort from Jadhav

W

Pandya to Warner, out Bowled!! "How on earth did I miss that?" That's the expression Warner wears on his face. What a ball from Pandya out of nowhere. Warner was threatening to bat long, but this is a clever delivery from India's newest fast-bowling all rounder. The off-cutter, which Warner didn't read from the hands. Pitched on the back of a length zone, Warner played for the straight ball and held his bat in defence, but this one just gripped the surface and moved away to hit the top of middle stump. Yes, top of middle stump. How good a sight is that for a pacer? So , maybe it was a deliberate ploy from Jadhav to misfield the first ball. Warner could have been off strike for this ball had he not let that go through to the boundary. Be kind on him! Warner b Pandya 42(44) [4s-4 6s-1]

4

Pandya to Smith, FOUR, Smith is off the mark with a trademark flick shot through mid-wicket, walked across a touch and timed the shot to perfection to beat the dive in the deep

6

to Finch, SIX, when Finch connects the lofted-drives, they stay hit. Looked like he picked this googly from , got into great position to tonk the ball that cleared the man at long-on

4

to Smith, FOUR, calculated hit. Stepped down the pitch, the ball isn't turning much, got close to the pitch of the ball and flicked to the right mid-wicket and the timing was good enough to take deep mid-wicket out of the equation

4

Pandya to Finch, FOUR, edged and there is no one at third man. Good length delivery outside off stump, Finch tries to drive, the ball just tails away, takes the thick edge and runs into the Australia dressing room

OT

Pandya to Finch, 1 run, that's a brilliant stop by Pandey and if he had released an accurate throw, Finch would have been in trouble. The batsman punched this short of length delivery to the right of cover, set off, Pandey lost balance while trying to have a shy

4

to Finch, FOUR, on the leg stump, Finch glances fine, Bumrah chases from short fine leg, gets to the ball, flicks it back and also drags it into the boundary

4

to Finch, FOUR, bludgeoned down the ground and that's the fifty on comeback - 17th fifty in ODIs. Very full and on the stumps, Finch smashes it back over the bowler's head

4

Yadav to Finch, FOUR, spinning down the leg-side, Finch paddles, gets a bottom edge, Dhoni jumps to his left to stop the ball but it sneaks low between his legs

4

Pandya to Smith, FOUR, fifty-partnership between the duo. Drifts on the legs of Smith, who anyway was shuffling across; flicked through backward square leg

4

Pandya to Finch, FOUR, too full. Pandya is just trying too hard at times. Finch cracks this half-volley through extra cover, no chance for the man at sweeper to get across in the deep

6

to Finch, SIX, he has played that well. Slower one but Finch read it. Did not try to hit it too hard, went for a lofted drive with a straight bat. With mid-off in the ring, it was always going to be easy. Guess what goes all the way

4

to Finch, FOUR, trifle short and it's enough for Finch. Rocks back and pulls hard to beat the mid-wicket fielder

6

Yadav to Finch, SIX, he did not hit it well but the short boundary has helped Finch here. Went inside out and played it a bit early. Got the elevation and managed to get enough distance as well. Bumrah at long-off could only be a spectator

4

Yadav to Finch, FOUR, this one has not come at the mercy of a short boundary. Floated around off and Finch almost killed it. Decimated straight down the ground to bisect long-on and long-off to perfection

4

to Smith, FOUR, that's brute served with a spoon of class. Stepped down and then wristed it over the infield at mid-wicket. No chance for the fielder trying to get across in the deep

4

Yadav to Finch, FOUR, 8th ODI ton for Finch. Punches in the air and takes off the helmet. The dressing room applauds. Swept this one hard and away from short fine leg

6

Yadav to Finch, SIX, this is as big as you'd see. Goes with the turn, did not have to step down. Got low in the crease and cracked it over the long-on fence. Went to the second tier

4

Pandya to Finch, FOUR, the pitch is now living up to all the hype that was created during the pre-match reports. Short one that does not rise at all. Finch goes back, takes a nap, and then pulls in front of square on the on-side. Races away to the fence

6

Yadav to Finch, SIX, that would have been a catch in my backyard. Exaggerated a bit. Didn't I? But this one was completely miscued. Tried to slog across the line and sliced it in the air to clear the long-off fence. Bowlers leave Indore immediately. This is not the world you should be in

OT

Pandya to Finch, 1 run, short and wide. No pace at all. Finch plays the square cut to find sweeper cover

OT

Pandya to Smith, 1 run, fifty for Smith. Comes in a manner that is incongruous to the innings that he has played so far. Got across to flick, got the inside edge on to the pad that rolled towards short fine leg. There was an appeal from Pandya but the umpire had spotted the edge

W

Yadav to Finch, out Caught by Kedar Jadhav!! Finch waits for a while but has to go. He thought Jadhav dropped it. He did drop something but that was not the ball for sure. Was stationed at deep mid-wicket and the ball carried straight to him. Finch had picked the bones of this one, flogged it off the meat of the willow and hit it flat to find the man. A wicket against the run of play. India won't mind though. Finch c Kedar Jadhav b Yadav 124(125) [4s-12 6s-5]

4

Pandya to Smith, FOUR, not the ideal way to end your spell, but Pandya has been impressive. On a batting paradise, he ends with figures of 10-0-58-1. Fuller and just outside off, Smith drives with feet stuck in clay and the outside edge beats short third man to his left

W

Yadav to Smith, out Caught by Bumrah!! Pressure. Pressure. Pressure. That is what dot balls can do. Australia had scored only 15 runs in four overs before this and Smith thought it was time to go especially with Maxwell struggling at the other end. He skips down the wicket and gets a bit too close to the wrong 'un, still went through with the loft and sliced it to long-off. Credit to for tossing 'em up even after beating smacked all day. Smith c Bumrah b Yadav 63(71) [4s-5]

W

to Maxwell, out Stumped!! Three in three. winning the contest against Maxwell hands down. Does him in cleverly once again. The idea is simple from the leggie - keep it well outside off and let Maxwell do all the hard work. He flighted this miles outside off and might have also been a wide if Maxwell had stood his crease, instead he comes down and flashes blindly. The turn beats the bat and Dhoni does a Dhoni behind the stumps. Bad cricket from Maxwell throwing it away immediately after the wicket of Smith. Australia have to restart their engine now. Maxwell st Dhoni b 5(13)

6

Yadav to Stoinis, SIX, the innings in Kolkata has instilled a lot of confidence in Stoinis, just came to the crease and he takes on the spinner, sees the flight and goes straight. Clears long-off comfortably

OT

to Stoinis, 1 run, went up for the LBW. There was no support from anyone close in. Kohli came up from long-on and went for the review. Full delivery tailed in a touch, Stoinis shuffled across and was late in bringing his bat down, first pad and then bat before rolling to long-on. With the movement across his stumps saving Stoinis as ball-tracking showed it to be hitting off-stump

W

to Head, out Bowled!! Australia have lost their way. Wickets at regular intervals after the depature of Finch has derailed their innings. This was the special - off-cutter which grips the surface and holds up, Head does not pick it and is early into the flick, the ball arrives later to crash into middle. Another big-hitter who is sent back cheaply. India have made an excellent recovery. Head b 4(6)

OT

to Handscomb, 1 run, Stoinis had given up. Handscomb steps out and drops it in front of cover, Chahal attacks the ball and fires at the striker's end. Stoinis was nowhere in the frame. The duo have a chuckle after that

4

to Stoinis, FOUR, missed the yorker by a couple of inches and Stoinis makes him pay. That is the margin for error on this surface. Stoinis clears his front leg and drills it down the ground, beating long-off

W

to Handscomb, out Caught by M Pandey!! Wow! Superb catch from Pandey. He's one of the best in this Indian team. Handscomb charges down and this time gives himself room to go over the off-side, deceived by the slower delivery and he still goes through with the loft, the ball seemed to be sailing over long-off before Pandey came into the frame. Timed his jump to perfection and held on, since he was tracking back, threw the ball up and went over the rope, came back in and completed the catch. Made it look ridiculously easy. Handscomb c M Pandey b 3(7)

4

to Agar, FOUR, errs in line does . The slower delivery is on leg-stump, Agar is swinging everything to the leg-side, makes a decent enough contact to send it over backward square. No one in the deep in that region
