Cummins to Rahane, FOUR, cracking shot, Rahane is off and running in some style, too straight from Cummins, ends up drifting onto Rahane's pads, he gets inside the line, flicks his wrists and finds the gap past mid-wicket, gets going with a boundary

4

Cummins to Rahane, FOUR, lovely shot, on a good length and on the stumps, Rahane leans forward, he didn't go hard on the shot, just let the ball come onto him and then placed it back past the non-striker, beats mid-on to his left and rolls away to the fence

4

Cummins to Rohit, FOUR, lovely shot, that should settle Rohit, half-volley outside off, Rohit leans forward, presents the full face of the bat and drives it sweetly back past the bowler. Mid-off was wide and has no chance

4

Cummins to Rohit, FOUR, back-to-back boundaries, on a good length and just outside off, Rohit gets a big stride forward, opens his arms and lifts it through the line, bounces once and sails over the ropes

4

to Rahane, FOUR, sublime from Rahane, nothing much wrong with that ball, perhaps a bit wide of off, Rahane leans forward, presents the full face of the bat and punches it on the up, bisects the tiny gap between cover and extra-cover. Shot of the match so far

4

to Rohit, FOUR, floaty half-volley outside off, can't bowl that length at a pace around 130 kmph. Rohit leans forward and caresses it into the gap past square leg, no need to run for those

4

to Rohit, FOUR, easy pickings for Rohit, short and on his hips, all he needs to do is to get some bat on that. He swivels across, one leg in the air as he rolled his wrists and plced it behind square on the on-side for a boundary

4

to Rahane, FOUR, creamed, lovely from Rahane, on a good length and well outside off, Rahane gets forward and caresses it wide of extra-cover, the man in the deep has no chance

4

to Rohit, FOUR, this is excellent bowling from , gave this one more air, drew Rohit forward into the drive and then got the ball to spin away. Rohit was completely done in by the flight, went hard on the shot and gets a thick edge past Wade

4

to Rohit, FOUR, cracking shot, poor ball to end the over, dropped it short and on the stumps, Rohit swivelled across and pulled it past square leg. The man in the deep is very square and has no chance

4

to Rahane, FOUR, beautifully played, gift from , full-toss outside off, Rahane gets a big stride forward and drives it through cover, beats the man getting across from the deep

6

to Rohit, SIX, boom. You string up dots by diving, he goes upwards. Violently. Rushes down the track to start, realizes he isn't as close as he'd like to have been. But swings, almighty in lofting this over long-on

4

to Rohit, FOUR, the defensive follow up from , typically darted full and wide outside off. After the brute, he goes smeary in taking it through the covers

OT

to Rohit, 2 runs, # 35. A loopy full toss on the pads and the elegant tickle off the boots in front of square. A half-century meanwhile, yet another one of it

4

to Rohit, FOUR, races down, oh he's having fun here. Sitting up on the hips with the short ball going wrong and Sharma swats it away. Mid-wicket again, this time the boundary. And now India have three 100+ consecutive opening stands

4

to Rahane, FOUR, wow. He's stealing Rohit's style here. Length balls in the slot at 's pace here is raw meat. Walks down, compounds the misery but making us aww. The high elbows in a smash down the ground. What's more - that's four fifties in a row

4

to Rahane, FOUR, 140kph. Slipping down onto middle with a hint of tail coming in. A walk down from Rahane, well across and whips. Ahh, that bottom hand

W

to Rahane, out Lbw!! Rahane thinks, consults and goes upstairs. The Aussies finally have their moment, but looks like they'd have to wait for a few more seconds. Rahane was caught shuffling yet again on the clip off the pads. Done in by the lack of pace to be pinned in front of middle. The leg-stump was to be seen as well. The only saving grace - he was on his toes. Nope. Not today. Umpire's call with the ball clipping the top of leg. Could we have a twist? Rahane lbw b 61(74) [4s-7]

4

to Rohit, FOUR, a nothing ball. Way too wide, way too short. Rocked back, slapped and bisects the gap between point and gully

4

to Rohit, FOUR, taken on. After his bunch of rejections, Rohit gives in. Bites the bullet, goes inside-out, full-blooded in lofting it over extra cover

6

to Rohit, SIX, out comes the dance. Oh Rohit. The big bat swing, the massive followthrough and the pose. Unfurls those levers, and the trajectory is parabolic enough to sail over long-on

OT

Cummins to Rohit, 1 run, 6000 ODI runs for Rohit Sharma. Gets there with a nice steer to third man

6

to Rohit, SIX, and he does it in style! 14th ODI hundred for Rohit Sharma. This is a seriously good shot to bring it up. He picks length in a flash and effortlessly dispatches a front foot pull over mid-wicket. Up go the arms, as he looks to the dressing room which is on its feet. Brilliant

4

to Rohit, FOUR, oh boy! This is just special. Not many things better than watching Rohit in full flow. Short of length, gets up around the hips, and Rohit whips a pull backward of square with such elegance - his front foot in the air, and the back foot swivelling across. Delightful

6

to Rohit, SIX, he has pulled that over mid-on for six. Back of length at most, but he's seeing it so well out there, gets on the front foot and swats it away

4

to Kohli, FOUR, too short. Kohli climbs into it. He jumps back into the crease and wallops the pull away over mid-wicket

OT

to Kohli, wide, really desperate appeal from Australia. And they've even gone for a review. Oh hang on, are they onto something? The ball is pretty close to the inside-edge as it goes by, but UltraEdge shows nothing. So on the basis of that evidence, it will remain not out. It was given as a wide down the leg-side, but was excited straightaway

6

to Rohit, SIX, back of length outside off, just a step forward from Rohit before unleashing his hands to mow it over long-on. These are effortless sixes

W

to Rohit, out Caught by Coulter-Nile!! Fatigue, not Australia, has conquered Rohit. Tired shot, this. It's a half-tracker from which holds in the pitch. Rohit picks it early, and is eager to smash it away, but the ball just doesn't skid on like he wants. He is eventually left reaching out in front of him, and drags it off the bottom of his bat for a miscue to deep mid-wicket. Rohit c Coulter-Nile b 125(109) [4s-11 6s-5]

4

to Kohli, FOUR, half-tracker, bludgeoned. Kohli rocks back and hammers it away over mid-wicket

W

to Kohli, out Caught by Stoinis at long off!! Now Kohli falls. He aims for his favourite inside-out lofted drive, but gets it much straighter than intended. That's because it came off the inside half of his bat. Some joy for . He'll latch onto any joy he can find at this stage. Kohli c Stoinis b 39(55) [4s-2]

4

to Kedar Jadhav, FOUR, oh another half-tracker. Can't say this over hasn't been eventful. Easy pickings for Jadhav who hammers it over mid-wicket

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, out comes the hoick - it's uppish but it's in the gap between mid-on and mid-wicket

4

to M Pandey, FOUR, absolutely drills it down the ground to complete the win. 4-1 to India

4

to Finch, FOUR, cracking shot, fraction too short and just outside off, Finch reads the length, swivels across and pulls it over midf-wicket, a few bounces and over the ropes

4

to Finch, FOUR, back-to-back boundaries for Finch, persists with the short stuff, this one is a tad higher as well. Finch swivels across, rolls his wrists and drags the pull past square leg. Axar is fine and he can't get across in time

4

to Warner, FOUR, nicely played by Warner, short of a length and on the stumps, Warner use his bottom hand well as he swivels across, plays a sort of a half-arm jab and sends the ball scorching across the outfield, beats the man getting across from long leg

4

to Warner, FOUR, just over mid-wicket, banged in short and on the stumps, Warner swivels across and plays the half-arm jab, clears the leaping fielder and rolls away to the fence in a hurry

4

to Warner, FOUR, back-to-back boundaries for Warner, another expensive over from , 12 came from it. Short and wide of off, Warner came down hard on the cut and bisected the two fielders - at cover and cover-point

4

to Finch, FOUR, easy pickings for Finch, too straight from , ends up drifting onto Finch's pads, tucked away behind square and beats the fielder diving to his left at short fine

4

to Finch, FOUR, lovely shot, length delivery and angling into Finch's pads, he uses the angle and clips it over mid-wicket. Kedar got across from deep square leg, but the ball beats him to the fence. Kohli isn't amused, he wanted his fielder to at least put in a dive

4

to Finch, FOUR, cracking shot, a long half-volley from , Finch leans forward, presents the full face of the bat and punches it back past the non-striker, beats mid-on to his left and rolls away for another boundary

4

to Warner, FOUR, this is turning out to be another superb start from Australia. Back of a length and well outside off, Warner stands tall and punches it in front of square on the off-side, beats cover and races away to the fence

4

Pandya to Finch, FOUR, edged and four, no slip and the third man was inside the ring. Finch was looking to run it fine, gets a thick edge and the ball rolls away to the fence

W

Pandya to Finch, out Caught by Bumrah!! No fifty for Finch and India have their first wicket. Nicely bowled by , on a good length and just outside off, Finch wasn't fully forward on the lofted drive, went through with the shot, toe-ended it wide of mid-off. Bumrah ran across and doesn't grab it at cleanly, luckily for him, the ball lobbed off his body, then hit his thigh and lobbed up. Bumrah then somehow got his right-hand across and held on. Looked very ugly on replays, but the important thing for India was he somehow managed to hold on. The third umpire has a look and is convinced it's a clean catch, off he goes. Finch c Bumrah b Pandya 32(36) [4s-6]

4

Pandya to Smith, FOUR, cracking shot, that's a gift for Smith and he accepts it gleefully. A long half-volley outside off, Smith leans forward and drives it sweetly through cover, off the mark with a boundary

4

Yadav to Warner, FOUR, lovely shot, too full and too wide of off, Warner gets a big stride forward and beats extra-cover with the drive, the man in the deep can't get across in time either

OT

Jadhav to Warner, 1 run, flat on off, punches to long-off for a single. Fifty for Warner, to follow his ton from the previous match

W

Jadhav to Smith, out Lbw!! Jadhav has done it again with his low trajectory. He's already become the best so-so bowler ever, surely. Smith attempts a shot which you just don't want to be attempting when the bowler is so averse to extract bounce. He looks to sweep it off middle stump, it sneaks under his bat and traps him plumb in front. Jadhav is ecstatic. There are so many jokes about his limited abilities, he has no right to get all these wickets. Smith lbw b Jadhav 16(25) [4s-1]

W

to Warner, out Caught by M Pandey!! Shimmies out and chips the ball with such good timing, that it carries all the way to long-on. Warner didn't intend for it to go so far, and he's devastated to have thrown his wicket away. So two wickets in quick succession here, and Australia are losing their way after a good start. Warner c M Pandey b 53(62) [4s-5]

W

to Handscomb, out Caught by Rahane!! Top-edged, and nicely judged by Rahane running back from slip. This is the third wicket in the last 18 runs. India's spinners are hurting Australia pretty bad. Flighted ball just outside off, Handscomb goes down to sweep, but fails to get on top of the bounce, which led to the top-edge. Handscomb c Rahane b 13(17)

4

Jadhav to Head, FOUR, twinkles down the track and hammers the ball straight back down the ground. Powerful stroke from Head

4

to Stoinis, FOUR, oh dear. A genuine edge from Stoinis, which goes through unhindered to the left of Rahane at slip. Rahane didn't even make a move. The ball gripped beautifully off a length to find the edge. Not sure what happened there, maybe he didn't pick it up

4

to Head, FOUR, flights it up well but errs a bit too full and Head slaps it through extra-cover. Excellent timing on that

4

to Stoinis, FOUR, and again, Stoinis's edge has split Dhoni and Rahane to perfection. If anything, Rahane seemed to be even wider this time. Slanted in from round the wicket, and it wasn't very slow either, but the ball still grips and opens Stoinis up, finding his outside edge. turns back and throws his head back in frustration

4

Jadhav to Head, FOUR, fires this on leg, and Head is so quick to pick the line. As soon as he judges it to be on leg-stump, he bends down low and sweeps it away backward of square

6

Jadhav to Stoinis, SIX, excellent footwork from Stoinis. He delayed his charge so Jadhav couldn't see him coming, and once to the pitch of the ball, he smoked it over long-on. Actually, Stoinis got a bit too close than he wanted to. Just about clears the field

OT

Yadav to Head, no run, India have taken a review here. It's a flighted delivery outside off, and it turns further away from Head as he tries to fetch a sweep. The ball goes under his bat through to Dhoni, who appeals immediately. But as the side replays show, there's a big gap between bat and ball. Will stay as not out

4

Yadav to Stoinis, FOUR, airy now. And breaks the stranglehold. He's been wanting to sink on the sweep and this time gets the length in his slot. Goes slogging and into cow corner

4

Yadav to Stoinis, FOUR, picks out the googly. Never a threat with it pitching half way down the track. Stoinis makes it look worse with his trek back, and slaps it through the covers. 11 off this one

4

Yadav to Head, FOUR, the calculated mow. He's taking a liking for here. Spots the conventional turn, gets it on a length and sits under it to sky it over mid-wicket. One bounced

OT

Yadav to Stoinis, no run, the umpire waits. And waits some more. And refuses to stop appealing. And the decision turns his way. So very Indian domestic cricket. Okay here's what happened - Stoinis tries to sweep a ball way too full and strikes his front pad right in front of middle. After sneaking under the bat. Was there a kiss? Stoinis went up in a flash. Here we go..yeah, a clear spike on the UltraEdge. Dhoni wasn't in the least interested. That's your giveaway

W

to Head, out Bowled!! Cleaned up. Was a matter of time before something gave in here. Dot balls, mere singles and not surprisingly Head looks for some innovation. floats it up, getting it to dip down sharply into off with the wide of the crease drift. Head lines up for the sweep, realizes he is in no position and looks to bail out with the flick. All around it in the end and finds the zingers lighting up. Head b 42(59) [4s-4]

W

to Stoinis, out Lbw!! A desperate Aussie review. Could be the last straw the Aussies were clinging on to out here to get somewhere respectable. gets one of his famed in-cutters right. Stoinis ends up falling over on the flick and playing it down the wrong line. Done in by the sharp deck in to get struck, pretty plumb. And the time he took to ponder on a review should tell us that there wouldn't be an inside edge. And there isn't - courtesy UltraEdge. Here we go on the HawkEye: Pitching - in line, impact - umpire's call, and stumps - hitting. That's the marching order. And they lose a review too..the 1st of October for this series starts tomorrow. Stoinis lbw b 46(63) [4s-4 6s-1]

6

to Wade, SIX, finally. That's some blow. gets one wrong, spots the change of pace too and swings it through the line, ful faced in tonking it straight back

W

to Wade, out Caught by Rahane!! Ends in style. That's some recovery here from , and he celebrates with a wicket to cap it off. Was one of his low full-tosses, Wade still not able to get under under can only go airy with the slice. The mis-slice. Down sweeper's throat. So Wade does better than what he has most series, not enough am afraid. Wade c Rahane b 20(18) [6s-1]

D

to Faulkner, 1 run, put down. It is Pandya turning culprit here. Bhuvi starts full, low. Biffed straight back down the ground and Pandya charges in, gets it at a nice comfortable height..only lets it pop out

W

to Faulkner, out Faulkner Run Out!! 1 run completed. The selfless run-out. Chips the lofted drive in the air down to long-on. Gets only the single by the time the ball gets to him but tries his luck punting on India's fielding. Long-on runs in, mops up, flats the throw to the keeper and Faulkner was not even in the frame. Faulkner run out (Hardik Pandya/Dhoni) 12(17)

W

to Coulter-Nile, out Bowled!! On the base of off curving inwards. Yes that's called plucking it out at the root, in reverse-style. 138kph, Coulter-Nile lines up for the big slog downtown. Misses, sneaking under the blade and is cleaned up. Bhuvi gets something to show for his pin-point accuracy. So, Australia finish with 242. Coulter-Nile b 0(1)
