Zimbabwe vs Pakistan - 1st Match

Series: Australia and Pakistan in Zimbabwe T20I Tri-Series, 2018
Venue: Harare Sports Club, Harare
Date: 01 July 2018

Zimbabwe 108/10 (17.5 Ovs) RR: 6.06 | Pakistan won by 74 runs

commentary

Pakistan are off to a sensational start in this tri-series. The gulf between the sides was evident on the park. The greater challenge lies against Australia but for now, let them enjoy this victory. Join us for Pakistan against Australia tomorrow, it promises to be a tasty encounter. Until then, this is Varun Dixit signing off on behalf of Sagar Chawla and Siva.

Asif Ali is the Man of the Match.

Sarfraz Ahmed: First match of the series is really important. Fakhar Zaman played really well at the top and Shoaib Malik and Asif finished the innings well. It looked like a really good wicket. There was some movement initially but later on it became an excellent track to bat on. We were little bit lethargic in the field but our bowling was exceptional, specially Nawaz. Plenty of cricket still to be played in this series.

Hamilton Masakadza: Only bright point was winning the toss. I think we gave them 20 runs extra. We started ok but we lost our way in the middle period. Our batting order was fine, we need to work on the execution part. We don't need to make changes in the team yet, we need to apply better at the top of the order.

13:16 Local Time, 11:16 GMT, 16:46 IST: Resounding victory for Pakistan. There is a gap of 11 places between these two sides in the T20 rankings and Pakistan justified that gap. Hosts were never in the game while chasing this. It was just a matter of victory margin and that was a comprehensive 74-run one in the end. Musakanda would be happy with his effort on debut but his team's effort was a disaster. Musakanda's effort with the bat and couple of lusty blows from Chigumbura and Mire were the only bright spots for Zimbabwe in the batting department.
